  1. Hi Yeti_Man, Just had a look in the Hungarian configurator and found it listed as extra equipment (code: 4ZG). Costs 96 pounds converted. Cheers Zed

  4. Below is Škoda's reply. Dear Mr. T, Via Škoda Info-Line we received your email, in which you asked us for further information about software upgrade for 1,4 TSI engine. We are really sorry, but this type of information about software changes is know-how of VW group development and we are not competent to communicate to the public. Our specialists are still working on optimizing software to reach the best possible results. Therefore we are pleased, that with new version of ECU software you feel better engine performance. 5. Besides bending xenons, I would for sure add heated seats (-15 C yesterday morning!), parking sensors both front and rear (can save you from costly body repairs), heated nozzles (they are a bargain), HHC (not that expensive) and a MF steering wheel (ease of gadget control).
  6. It might be true, however my ECU has never been remapped. The dealer installed a new ECU software, overwriting the previous warranted one.
  7. I have searched for threads on this but found none. Sorry, if I overlooked any hits. Last Thursday I took the car to a VAG garage to troubleshoot my boot lid rattle. While they were investigating the source of the burr, I asked them to check if a new version was available for my ECU (MFD July 2009). And there was! A major upgrade was downloaded directly from Skoda, then installed and set up in a mere ten minutes. The software upgrade was a major one, as the version number is now v5050. Unfortunately, they had no idea about what parameters (or functions, features, values etc.) the upgrade touched in effect. When driving home after the upgrade, the engine felt more responsive at lower revs as well. Up to now, I have not been able to test what else changed or how differently the car/engine behaves when not in city trudge. Does anyone know what exactly the differences are between versions 3981 and 5050?
  8. I have noticed the same twice or three times since I had the car. The xenons extinguished just for a fraction of a second, then flared up immediately. I thought it was a contact fault, but as others here report the same, now I am unsure.
  9. I have xenons too, and have had this setting (that is, wash the headlights every fourth wash) modified in a nearby garage via VAS. Ask them to change the default value (= 4) to whatever you prefer.
  10. I have had my 1.4 TSI for 6 months now. The engine starts at the first try every morning, regardless of the outside temperature (14 degrees C below zero these days). I would take the car to another garage for a second opinion.
  11. Thanks for all your answers. Mine is a HU spec purchased in Hungary (ordered 30 May, delivery and first drive-home 18 July). I live in Budapest. It is strange though, that the HU Skoda configurator still offers dimming door mirrors (plural), while the UK configurator has no mention of them. The only dimming bit there is the "Auto dimming rear view mirror with rain sensor". Must be more up to date than its HU equivalent. I have just had a look at the UK "Build your own" feature and can see several differences between the very same trim levels (Elegance UK and Elegance HU). Some items included there, others missing and vice versa. For instance you pay extra for curtain airbags but not for the Bolero option. Hm, weird.
  12. I think this has nothing to do with VAGCom. Skoda simply put the wrong mirror plate and/or mechanism to the right mirror case. Even its (green-in-dark) plate "foil" is missing. Both of them fold in, however.
  13. Hello, I cannot find an appropriate topic for the below issue, so I have posted a new one. Sorry, if there is one I overlooked, after all. I have a new Octavia Elegance which I ordered with electronically adjustable, heated and foldable door mirrors. They are _supposed to dim automatically_ (mfg. code: PW3). My dealer ordered the car with the necessary code and was given the internal Skoda invoice with this very code shown on it as well. The boot sticker and the servicing register sticker do not have it printed. On my first night drive, I noticed that only the left door mirror and the inside rear view mirror dim automatically. The national VAG distributor told me this was normal, as from May 2009 on only the left door mirror can be equipped with the auto dimming feature (also went to a garage to have it checked, and they said the right door mirror did not even have the necessary cabling and gadgets). Does anyone have auto dim door mirrors on a May-July 2009 Octy? Do both of them dim? If not, can the right one be retrofitted? Is Skoda accountable for this defect? (They probably will offer me free accessories or a service free of charge, if I agree.) Thanks
  14. It was already listed there under Lights&Vision, but had no effect (i.e. selecting its check box did not enable DRL at all). Since it has been enabled via VAGCom, I can turn it on/off by selecting/deselecting the check box from the MF steering-wheel. Hope this is clear.
  15. I have MaxiDot and can enable/disable DRL manually in there (Setup > Lights&Vision). Interestingly, however, the DRL function was disabled on my Elegance 1.4 TSI with xenons by design. Seems logical once these new xenons are cornering anyway (and do a 4 step bounce: down, swivel in and out, and then up). (Though, I had my DRL enabled via VAGCom - now the xenons and the DRL both do the cornering movement.)
  16. Hello, This is my first ever post here, so all hail! I have had my new MY 2010 Octy (1.4 TSI Elegance) for two weeks now, after driving a Renault Clio for nine years. What a difference this new car makes... Been browsing through Briskoda for months and found tons of useful information. I hope I can help others if needed. Cheers
