  1. Hi 2ndskoda, That sounds like a really good idea. Unfortunately I don't have the car with me at the moment, it's still with the garage. Sorry, I'm not sure if the parts used were genuine Skoda or not. To be honest I'm really nervous about having the 2007 Fabia back, all this has knocked my confidence in it. Hence looking to purchase the 2009 one.
  2. Thanks for the reply Wino, neither car is with me at the moment. I'll make a call & try to get the engine numbers. I'll reply again when I have them.
  3. Hi, thanks for your reply. I am looking to change my car for a 2009 model. My 2007 Fabia would not cruise at 60+ without the engine management light coming on & the car going into 'limp' mode. Therefore being imposible to drive on motorways. It was showing multiple missfires on all cylinders, the largest number being on no.3. Since February the following has been done to try & sort it: New coils, spark plugs, injectors. It's been 'Terracleaned'. Compression/leak tests....all normal. Head off, checked & skimmed, as they thought a valve was sticking. ECU sent away to be tested....no faults Specialist auto electrician gone over all wiring....all ok. And after all this, the fault is still there :( Fortunately the dealer has been excellent & paid for all the work. So, now I'm looking to swap it to a 2009 model. I'd like to stick with skoda as I have been pleased with previous ones.
  4. Good evening all, I am just in need of a little engine info please. Is there likely to be any difference in a Fabia Mk2 2007 1.2 HTP engine & a Fabia Mk2 2009 1.2 HTP engine please? They have different engine codes, but not sure what they mean. I had multiple problems with the 2007 engine (multiple unsolved missfires etc.) & am wondering if the 2009 engine would be any better. Any constructive help & info would be most appreciated please.
  5. Just an update: I've taken it for a good 'hard workout' today to burn off the Esso fuel. Filled it back up with Tesco Momentum 99Ron & the problem seems to have gone!!?? May just be a coincidence, so I'll see how it goes over the weekend. Thanks up to now for everyone's advice so far.
  6. Thank-you Wino, for your advice. I'll definately be going back to the Momentum 99ron & see what happens. Also will take your advice & get a suitable lead and download VCDS lite. Is the lead just called a VCDS lead?
  7. Hi Wino, thank-you so much for replying. Not sure exactly what kit my mechanic has. He's been very reliable over the 20+ years I've used him & he seems to keep up to date with technical kit. The only thing i've done differently prior to this happening is put some different fuel in. It was running perfectly & incident free on 'Tesco Momentum 99ron'. Two days before the fault showing i filled up with 'Esso Premium 97ron' from a Tesco express. Could this change cause a problem??
  8. Hello fellow Skoda fans, I currently have a Fabia mk2 (2007) 1.2 HTP 70 which has full dealer service history from new.It has done 34k miles. Never had any issues until this weekend where the engine management light flashes. Here's the symptoms...... * Only ever happens at speed on the Motorway when its been at the constant speed for a while (around 3000 revs). Engine Management Light flashes & car goes into limp mode. * When I pull off the motorway, stop & restart the engine, the light goes out. If I stick to 'A' & 'B' roads light stays off. It only happens when on motorway 60-70mph. * Not faults are showing when it's 'plugged' in to computer. * Car runs totally fine at all other times. Good MPG, no misfire. I welcome any ideas & appreciate any help you can offer please. I don't really want to be taking it a garage who will charge for things that really don't need doing as guesswork!
  9. @SickoZero just noticed your post, i bought my timing chain kit & gasket from Hayselden Skoda in Doncaster for £22.00 http://www.hayselden-cars.co.uk/doncaster-skoda Hope this helps
  10. Just an update for anyone interested. I bought a new timing chain kit & gasket from my local Skoda dealer for £22.00 last week. The parts department told me that the marking issue has been corrected on the latest batch. The kit I bought was marked correctly & now my Fabia sounds brill & running so much better.

  14. Hello, I'm new to this forum site, so please bear with me. I have a 2000 (X reg) Fabia I 1.4 8v (MPI). After having read a few topics, I conclude that my loud engine rattle is possibly due to the timing chain needing changing (it's done 115K miles). Many have mentioned that the marks on some new chains are incorrect, but I can't find anywhere what the correct markings are. Can someone tell me what the correct markings are please or where I can get the correct info regarding the markings. I would truly appreciate any help or advice you can give me please. Kind regards Captain
