  1. My 'Amundson' display has suddenly decided to stop working (i.e. radio/satnav/etc/everything). This has always come on when the ignition is ON. Is it possible that I may have inadvertently operated a switch somewhere that I'm not aware of? Anyone out there have any ideas? Where might I find the fuse for this, if that seems most likely? Very grateful for any help/advice! (The minor display behind the steering wheel works OK).
  2. Thank you all so much for your responses. I've successfully got back to "mph", at last!!. I think I may have a problem though - it took several attempts to get the RH button to respond correctly. Could be a button/switch/mechanical problem or a software problem? I might get the local Skoda dealership to do a diagnostic test (I have a 90 day warranty from "CAZOO"). They've been very good so far, so we'll see what their warranty credentials are like! Thanks again all. Much appreciated. Clive H.
  3. "Folder" button?? Not sure I understand. I've tried pressing the button above the 'Phone' button, but all that appears is "Front Assist" followed by, when I turn the knurled wheel, "Are you sure you want to cancel...". Tried every button on the steering wheel but I can't get back to "mph". 'elp!!
  4. Just bought a 2017 Octavia Estate Auto. New to the latest "Infomation" system(s). Also a computer illiterate, so please bear with me!! I had my mph displayed on the instrument cluster. I then paired my Iphone successfully. Now I have my Iphone details on the instrument cluster. How do I get the instrument cluster to return to "mph"??? I've tried everything I can think of, to no effect! Would welcome any advice!
  5. Just bought a 2017 Octavia Auto Estate from CAZOO. Exchanged my old car for a Ford Focus Titanium. Bad mistake. Appalling road noise (I could feel every bump & imperfection - some, I swear where the was no bump in the road at all!!). Swopped it for the Octavia. What a difference!! Both the ride quality and internal finish are far, far superior. Well chuffed. would strongly recommend CAZOO to anyone seeking to buy/exchange their car! I look forward to joining in the foram again!
  6. Need some urgent advice please! I've replaced the fuel filter on my 130PD many, many times before without any problem. I'm just fitting a 'Mann' filter though, and there appears to be a clear plastic 'cover' inside at the top of the filter element (unlike others that I've fitted). Consequently, I can't get any diesel in to prime the thing! Any help or suggestions would be VERY welcome!!
  7. Bugger, bugger, bugger, and bugger!! Got out-bid in the last 20 seconds on ebay. Now back in the market for a 2008 or later, low mileage VRS estate in red with as many bells & whistles as poss.
  8. You'll probably get as many different views on that as there are members on this forum! I don't myself altogether agree with the 4-wheel-drive argument for towing. My 130PD estate has pulled two different caravans, both 4-berth, the current one a 23 footer, and I've never experienced any problem (and get 30-32mpg towing). With 4WD you're hauling all that extra weight around - 2 diffs etc - (at the expense of mpg) for 90% of the time when you don't really need it. Now back to me VRS - decisions, decisions (I can just picture it parked in me drive-way, but I can also see me bank balance)!!!!!
  9. 9k to 30K then, it seems - wet OR dry. Gotta be down to driving style then, it seems to me. At 72 I'm no boy-racer but do like a bit of oomph when I need it. I pull a caravan as well, so that probably defines my normal driving style!! Any advances on the 'Michelin' recommendation? I'm less interested in performance than economy (but wanna be safe as well of course). Someone out there will be asking why the hell does the old fart want to get a VRS?. Good question, and one I've been agonising over now for 2 days - but it looks a very good car and the price is right, so I've more-or-less talked myself into it! Many, many thanks for all the responses - much appreciated.</p>
  10. Just been to see a good looking 2010 Octavia TDi VRS estate. Only done 15,000 miles and looks a very nice car, but I'm a tad concerned about apparent front tyres tread wear. Never owned a car with low-profile tyres, so I may be worrying about nothing. Are these cars known for excessive front wear (I've no reason to believe it's been driven maniacally!). My existing 130PD estate notches up over 50,000 miles on a set of tyres!! Grateful for any guidance.
  11. Many thanks to all for the advice. Difficult decision, but I've half-decided to go the leasing route. Got a quote for a 140BHP TDi estate SE PLUS with a few 'extras' for £2K down up front and £350 a month for 3 years (10,000 miles/year). It includes servicing and routine maintenance + tyres + breakdown cover. By the time you've factored-in depreciation on a new 'buy outright', and the fact that (in my case at least) I get a higher-spec car than I could afford to buy outright, plus hassle-free motoring............Well, we shall see. If this thread's still open when I get it, I'll update this so you can see how it turns out! many thanks again for the responses. This is a great site!
  12. Has anyone on here had any experience of leasing a Skoda rather than outright ownership? My Mk 1 Octavia is now 8 years' old, and I'm thinking of upgrading to a Superb Elegance estate diesel. Looking at some of the leasing sites, it seems a practical proposition, but I should welcome any opinions/experience others may have had, before I commit!
  13. CORRECTION: it didn't come from 'Jorily'. I bought it from VOLKSBITS (on ebay). £6.29).
  14. Many thanks for the image. Found it! (same place as yours). Replaced, and it seems to work OK i.e. temp gauge on dash runs up to 90 degs and stays there, and the fault hasn't re-appeared so I assume the ECU is being fed OK also. My sensor came from 'Jorily' on ebay (about £6 if I remember correctly) - so not ALL non OE spares are duff it seems!
  15. Many thanks for that mbames. The warning light/code subsequently went out so I left it. Now doing a 10,000 mile service and decided to change it. Problem is I can't find it!!! What I THOUGHT was it, looks to be a fuel temp sensor cos it's in a fuel line. Where the devil is it located??? (the photograph in Haynes is no help - I can't relate it to anywhere on my engine). I have the 130PD MK1. Anyone tell me where the thing is??
