  1. The Eagle has Landed! Our 2nd Yeti has arrived, 110 4x4 SE Steel Grey, 16" Alloys! more or less 6 months to the day from ordered, lead times are still silly, even Citigo is 4 months! apparently larger ships are going to be used for both VW and SkodaM, although I think the main issue is at the factory end. The 16" rims are a definate improvement on the old 17`s yes, you can still feel the bumps but the ride is much improved, looks better in my opinion too!
  2. Just received news that our build week is 34, was sat at 27 for a while, so we sold our existing Yeti...... so new one should be hear early to mid Sept, could it be the last with the 16" `option`?
  3. Towbar Express did the towbar on our Yeti and also did the programming, everything works as it should EXCEPT when the lights are the `auto` position, even in daylight, the trailer sidelights would be on, you have to turn the main light switch off! I have heard this has happened on other peoples Skodas not just Yeti`s. There seems to be a lot of talk regarding extra fans with the factory towbar prep, but Iam not 100% sure that this is in fact the case, all I can say is that we have not got factory towbar prep and have had no issues whatsoever with a lack of cooling. If you go for the twin electrics for the split charging etc, then this is a seperate loom to the front of the car, and is not included in the factory prep. So the choice is yours! my view is that you don`t need the factory prep, it would be nice if Skoda took a leaf out of Land Rovers book and had the loom fitted as standard, simple job to just plug in at the back, job done!
  4. We are in a similar position, we have got a 140 SE 4X4 with 12000 miles on the clock and have ordered a new Yeti for delivery in Sept/October, our dealer offered us £17250 for ours now ( March ) or if we wait until September a guaranteed £ 14500. We have on advice from the dealer to keep our current Yeti out of the deal, and sell it nearer the time, they reckon it will make a good price but from a buisness viewpoint, they couldn`t guarantee a higher price particularly as there was nothing left in the deal on the new one! Bearing in mind yours is a 4x2, which generally make a little less money, so the value you have been given I think is about right for a trade in.
  5. Insurance companies love sending vehicles to their authorised repairers, they usually make it more awkward to for you to go to a Skoda bodyshop, but you can request it, I had my Octavia repaired at an authorised repairer, it went back twice for rectification, 2 years later the lacquer peeled off...... suggest going to D M Keith in Leeds, brilliant bodyshop!
  6. Hi there! If your build date is May, there still may be chance as I was told that any changes, colour, trim etc could be done about 5 weeks before build, if not, you may get your dealer to swap the wheels from an `S` model upon arrival at the dealership. my dealer said this was `do able` if I had no joy at the factory. My reason for wanting the 16`s were for several reasons, ride comfort, aesthetics, price of tyres, choice of tyre particularly with all terrain tyres, there seems to be a trend these days for skinny tyres with minimal sidewall to enable to get round corners quickly, my view is that the Yeti is not that type of vehicle, have the 17 or even an18inch wheel as an option, but put the Yeti on a tyre more suited to it`s intended use!
  7. Hi, didnt speak with Mr Hazlewood but initially e-mailed him which was then passed to his PA, but got a call today from a chap in customer services ( cant remember his name) who is liasing with the dealer. It has only taken a week from initial contact to getting the `nod`. I have a choice of either Moon Alloys or the newer Nevis design with 215/60/16 tyres.
  8. Due to the very high residuals on 4X4 Yetis at the moment, we decided to change our current 1 year old 140 SE, but for an SE with the 16" alloy wheels, a `phone call to Skoda customer services resulted in a flat "no" but with the help of `the plumber` I went to the top and today they phoned back and said yes, no problem, we will intercept the order put in by the dealer on Monday, and change to two digits for the wheel option. So, job done, being a bit cheeky, I asked if there would be a price reduction....... still waiting on that one! Reading between the lines, I wouldn`t be surprised if Skoda UK started offering this option from model year 13 which starts around June/July time, we will see! This is a first for my dealer ( D M Keith ) "never thought it possible" !
  9. Whats your insurance excess like? might be the cheaper route to claim on your own policy?
  10. I know this has probably been done `to death` before but can anyone confirm or deny that there is a noticeable differance in the ride quality between 225/50/17 tyres and 215/60/16? Iam finding that although the ride is quite good over normal road undulations, I can feel every pebble on the really rough bits, having done the various calculations, there would be an increase in sidewall height on the 16" tyre of about 19mm, is this enough to make that much differance?I have considered come tyre change time to get a set of moon alloys and go to 16" tyres. As yet I haven`t driven a Yeti with the 16" wheels, but has anyone got any views? I have also got a Fabia on 195/55/15 tyres and to be honest that is more comfortable in certain respects than the Yeti!
  11. Thanks for all your help guys! appears I dont have a problem, just seems a bit strange! might get it scanned at next serice just to check!
  12. Hi everyone, I have recently taken over the usage of a Fabia 2, level one with the 3 cylinder engine, it is a 2007 model with 16000 miles on the clock, just an observation but when revving the engine ( stationary ) up to say 3500rpm and then taking you foot off the throttle the engine seems to take ages ( around 3 to 4 secs) to slow down to tickover speed, sometimes the revs drop off straight away? Is there a fault or is it a characteristic of this engine? maybe some 1.2 htp owners out there could shed some light? Cheers!
  13. We have had several cars on cover with the green insurance company, only used them once on the octy when a rock went through the sump, and I have to say, fantastic service all for £23.00!!!
  14. We purchased our Yetiin March 2011 from the Ossett branch of D.M Keith as the salesman at Leeds was not prepared to get anywhere near the Drive the deal price, in fact offered no discount and proceeded to "rubbish" Drive the Deal, saying that it wasn`t price protected etc, however the Ossett branch was far more accomodating and got within £500.00 of the internet price! The Leeds branch is far more convenient for us and we have made use of the bodyshop when the car was hit by a Deer, Deer 1 yeti 0! unfortunately the first two attempts at fixing the damage didn`t work, but third time lucky everything was ok. I have to say that the effort that Simon Duckworth put in to resolve the matter was brilliant, after all it was the bodyshop technician that was to blame on this one! and compensated us with a couple of free valets. First service is due soon, so hopefully things will be ok. So in a nutshell, Sales dept, could do better, but top marks to bodyshop/aftersales although it would have been nice to get the car repaired to a good standard first time.
  15. Interesting reading all the comments on the 16" versus 17" debate! our Yeti is on 17" rims and yes, the ride is firmer than our Octavia which has 205/55/16 tyres, even though the sidewall is actually the same height in each case, in factwhen talking Yeti`s the differance in sidewall height between the 225/50/17 and the 215/60/16 is only 15mm is this enough to make a significant differance? I had thought about changing the wheels to 16" but would really like to test drive a Yeti on 16" wheels to see if there is indeed a marked differance. Could it be that our Octavia with 110,000 on the clock is suffering from "saggy" suspension anyway? so maybe a little unfair to compare that to a 9000 mile new car. Incidently, the load rating on the 215/60/16 is 95 which is higher than the 225/50/17 tyre ( 94 ) so potential for there to be a slightly stiffer sidewall? What we need is a "teckie tyre person" to answer these questions!
