  1. Spark plugs are every 4 years or 60,000 km. Interestingly Skoda's maintenance schedule only states distance and not time for changing the oil and filter in the 6-speed DSG gearbox as 60,000 km.
  2. I had a similar problem whereby the blind spot detection and rear traffic alert would stop working when the car was put into reverse. It was very easy to reproduce - enable one or both of the systems then as soon as reverse was selected the error stating they were unavailable would show. This started happening with no other change to the car. Note that both the blind spot detection and rear traffic alert use the same radar(?) sensors fitted within the rear bumper. I got it fixed under warranty and the dealer who fixed it said that the car needed a software update. It's been fine since then. I was expecting one - or both - of the sensors to have failed.
  3. My Superb, built December 2016 with heated steering wheel, lists the following for module 16: Address 16: Steering wheel (J524) Labels:| 5Q0-953-549.clb Part No SW: 5Q0 953 521 LA HW: 5Q0 953 569 B
  4. A bit late to the party on this, but I had the same issue. After 2.5 years of everything working as expected, the error occurred as I was driving along and I eventually noticed that Blind Spot Monitor and Rear Traffic Alert systems were disabled. Enabling them would work for some period of time, but then the error would happen again and they would remain disabled. After some playing around I found that I could reliably get the sensors to fail by simply putting the car into reverse. No obvious faults were logged with VCDS, but I only have the HEX+CAN interface which can't communicate with all the modules in the car. Car was booked into the garage for a warranty repair and on collection it was reported that a fault was found which required a software update to resolve. Since then I've not had the problem re-occur.
  5. I noticed a difference to my daytime running lights after the headlight update was applied earlier this year. From factory the daytime LEDs would fade back to on after the indicator was cancelled but after the headlight update this no longer happens. Instead the daytime LEDs now simply switch back on at once after the indicators (much like they switch off when starting to indicate), so some coding change happened to disable the fade. I've yet to try and investigate what this change might've been as I'm not too fussed about it. Has anybody else noticed this change?
  6. The stiff suspension on my previous VRS was one of the reasons I decided to change cars as it was just plain uncomfortable on anything except perfectly smooth roads. Even with the DCC in sport mode on my 280 it still feels more comfortable than I remember the VRS used to be. Perhaps I'm just getting old!
  7. I went for Corrida red with black leather as I felt that beige wouldn't suit the external colour and I simply didn't like brown. With the lighter colour pillars and roof the black leather doesn't feel as if it darkens the cabin too much (unlike my previous car that had dark seats and dark headlining). Don't regret the colour choices at all!
  8. The other weekend I did ~100 miles along fairly quick roads (mostly all single/dual NSL) and with the family in the car wasn't pushing it too hard but still had a very reasonable average speed for the journey and was astonished to see that my 280 had managed just shy of 40MPG (and no, I don't use eco mode)! I don't sit watching the consumption most of the time but whilst I do visit the pumps more frequently than my previous 170 TDI I wouldn't say it was worryingly so, although the larger tank helps with that which hurts slightly. All is forgiven once back behind the wheel. I'm at ~15k miles in now and consumption figures anywhere between 30-35 are easy to achieve even when making it roar. A 220 should easily match - and almost certainly beat - that.
  9. Do you really need this? I don't have these and they've not caused any problem. Providing the screenwash solution is appropriate to the conditions I've never had them freeze on me...
  10. This was one of the concerns that I had when trying to decide between the 220 and 280 - engine revs at 70 as I didn't want it to be screaming on long journeys and I can honestly say that even with the higher gearing of the 280 you simply don't notice it. The car feels so much more refined than my previous Octavia CD TDI at 70... I'm not really worried about fuel consumption so don't sit there watching it but I have noticed that a nice blast down the motorway mid to upper 30s are easily achievable (even when fully laden with passengers and luggage). Unfortunately most of my driving involves slow congested rural roads between home and work but even then the car seems to manage a long term average somewhere between 32-35 depending on the time of year. I don't doubt that the 220 is better in this respect but the 280 is nowhere near as bad as I was expecting.
  11. I was going to say that I had this exact dilemma, but saw you linked my original post! I've had my 280 for a year now and I've not had a single "I wish I got the 220 instead" regret. Don't get me wrong, the 220 is a really great engine but the 280 - combined with 4x4 - is just so effortless. Around this time of year I normally struggle with grip pulling out into a NSL single carriageway with cold tyres but the Superb has simply shot off down the road like a scolded cat without hesitation. Another 280 benefit is the flaps in the exhaust that operate when giving it some beans. Not to mention the huge grin you get.
  12. It was my understanding that with modern engines lifting off the throttle in gear can be more efficient than coasting in neutral. In neutral the engine needs to stay at idle speed to prevent it from stalling so fuel still needs to be injected into the cylinders whereas lifting off the throttle in gear can allow the engine to essentially free run without any fuel being injected as it'll continue to turn over from the wheels turning the drive shaft.
  13. Someone else might be able to confirm but I think HBA is standard on the L&K so you'd only need to enable TSR. I specified mine with SLA which replaces HBA so I can't check for certain but it doesn't seem to show as a valid option in the brochure for L&K trims (at least not in my MY17 brochure).
  14. There is only the one forward camera which is fitted as standard on the L&K (it's needed for lane assist which is standard on the L&K, possibly some others). It's fairly trivial to enable TSR using VCDS - I did that on mine. Likewise HBA, if not standard, can also be coded with VCDS.
  15. Here's mine (heated steering wheel isn't on but when it is the line under the icon goes red, just like the heated seats):
  16. This could also be a difference between MY17 and MY18 with the new infotainment system, although I do also have ventilated seats...
  17. Yes, the heated steering wheel option adds a new icon to the left of the 'OFF' icon of the driver's heated seat selection to allow manual on/off control (the same as the HVAC menu icon). The level setting can only be changed from the HVAC settings menu.
  18. The standard car has a ride height of 149/148mm (the latter for 4x4 transmission) but I've read on here before that having DCC on the car reduces this further by 10mm, which the L&K has. Sports suspension is a further 5mm lower. Worst case for a L&K will be 139/138mm if DCC does indeed reduce it by 10mm.
  19. Mine look sooty after a few hundred miles but they do clean up very easily with just water.
  20. Those part numbers are for the Superb MKII (3T). The MKIII will have part numbers starting 3V. If you still have access to the old parts you need to replace then the part numbers will be printed on them otherwise good luck finding a source for MKIII part numbers as I've looked before and failed miserably.
  21. Unfortunately it was just coincidence - I noticed the rattle in the driver's door again this afternoon without the umbrella there. It looks to be temperature related as the last few days have been rattle free, but cooler.
  22. 507.00 is for diesel engines. 504.00 (variable) or 502.00 (fixed interval) is the correct oil for petrol engines, which is what @RGKTSi has.
  23. I've had a rattle come and go, most noticeably from the driver's door, anywhere between 1600-2000 rpm which looks like it might be the umbrella in the door causing it. On removing the umbrella the rattle started and came back soon after it was refitted (also simply removing and reinserting can make the rattle disappear for a few days). I've now removed both umbrellas and I'll see over the next week or so whether the rattle has indeed gone away or whether it was just coincidence.
  24. You can enable or disable the automatic rear wiping from Settings -> Mirrors and wipers menu selected from the Car infotainment page.
  25. There's a cover behind the glovebox (which I think you need to remove) and the pollen filter sits behind that.
