  1. I got about 33k from a pair of the original Dunlop Sport Maxx that came on my monte estate, although one was very heavily worn on the inside edge despite the wheel alignment being spot on. I have moved to non directional continental sport contact 5's which seem good so far
  2. It looks like there is a change to the wiper from May 2013 onwards. My car is registered Feb '14 on a 63 plate which means it has the rear aero wiper, which the earlier cars don't seem to have. This one looks like it should fit, part no 1K8955435
  3. So somehow the cover over the rear washer on the wiper arm went missing from my car a few weeks ago. i ordered a new genuine one and it doesn’t seem to remotely fit. Anyone had had to replace this before? Is there a specific way to fit it or have I got the wrong part?
  4. Can i run V spec tyres instead of the factory W speed rating?
  5. I think I have picked up 2 contisport5 for £110 locally on a clearance deal, if they fall through though I'll look into 45s
  6. But that will change the rolling radius by 5% and send the speedo out...?
  7. Mine desperately needs updating, so i will get a card from one of these eBay sellers i think. Is V10 relatively close to being released though? Mine hasn't been updated since 2013.
  8. Interesting, there's a place up the road from me that has 2 reduced to £62 each ill look at the uni royals too Skoda seemed to have fitted Pirelli P Zero Nero to "solve" the pulling to the left thing but they have mixed reviews from what I can tell
  9. I have had my Monte for 3 years and decided to keep it - annoyingly at the last service both left hand tyres had sidewall damage noted on the inside, must have caught something on a pothole or a speedbump i think The car has the factory Dunlops, the car always pulled to the left a bit, but it got better with mileage, and i recall and some results were yielded from the tyres being replaced under warranty by skoda. So now i need to buy a new pair minimum, i wondered what Skoda recommended the swap to or what other forum users have had good response from? I remember Conti sport contacts of some sort or pirellis but can't find the thread from the time Any help much appreciated!
  10. just thought i'd update this over the past week i have done a couple of trips from london to lancaster and back n my 1.6 tdi monte carlo estate, with 3k on the clock. On the way up, i got 62mph average including getting out of London and getting stuck on the Birmingham ring road for an hour because of a diversion On the way back, managed 68.9 average including a pit stop in St Albans. both journeys i just stuck at about 70mph the whole way, as i realised by doing 80 i only ever arrive about 15mins earlier at the other end, and decided the fuel was better in the tank!
  11. yeah, i think leaving it in sport mode and re-driving a load of old local rally routes in the middle of the night put pay to that!
  12. out of interest, how much was it? My monte carlo tech came with one for an iphone 4, which of course i don't have.
  13. adversely, i borrowed my dads black VRS for a few days once and when i gave it him back, he complained that i had managed to "achieve" 9mpg or something!?
  14. in my Monte TDI got me 50.9mpg, including London > Sheffield and back and a weeks worth of running about west London in traffic etc. car's only done around 2000miles so not really run in yet, i expect it to improve once it loosens up a bit. I also read an engineering paper about small capacity TDi efficiency and was surprised to find they respond better to slightly more RPM - theres a point in the rev range where running slightly more RPM and boost makes for much better mpg. I started driving around at 30mph with about 1500rpm around town and have been getting +5/7mpg since. My dad has seen 72mpg on a run back from Plymouth to the lakes in the past in a 1.6 TDI elegance estate
  15. hmm it's odd you mention this as i noticed some surprisingly bad chips on the bonnet of my white monte when i waxed it last weekend. Similarly, the car's only just done 2000 miles, the only thing i can possibly link to it is passing a gritter or something but i've only ever seen one on the roads once since i bought it
  16. Yeah I saw they were listed specifically as estate springs. Will get a set fitted at the first service I think!
  17. is the OEM kit from skoda essentially the eibach pro kit then? Going for that would be an easy option as they have said they can fit it at the first service
  18. yeah 40mm looks alright i think! just want to minimise that arch gap a bit
  19. Now i've not long had the monte estate but i would like it a bit lower over the standard "sports suspension" The salesman told me they do an OE kit you can get, and i've seen the eibach pro kit which i've experienced on other road cars and been happy with. I just wondered if anyone has any opinions/experience on the above? another 40mm or so and a bit stiffer would be nice
  20. I have had a Fabia II hatch before (08 plate 1.4 petrol) and really like the estate, mostly because i can get my bike in the boot with the wheels out without folding the seats! I like the all black and the black / white ones best, maybe i'll have my roof wrapped black or something on mine!? Yeah but didn't like to spam this thread with them
  21. Had mine for 3 weeks now, enjoying it so far. Thinking of doing some subtle mods but not sure what yet. Will be heading to Ace cafe next week for VAG night.
  22. Picked mine up today. '63 plate Monte Carlo Tech Estate, 105 TDI Only extra over tech spec is spare wheel kit, will add some more bits in the future hopefully!
  23. PD100 is not much good to me, needs to be petrol sorry.
