  1. Thats pikey, at best. I would explain to them that you've got photos of their work, and you're not afraid to use them!
  2. Sorry it's taken so long to reply. Right, I replaced the MAF and it made no difference at all. So, my mechanic spent a lot of his own time removing my turbo only to find the a couple of the veins were indeed shattered. I decided that the best cause of action was to put it back together and get shot. It was also FILTHY. Absolutely drowned the tank with Wynns Diesel treatment and brayed the living sdaylights out of it down my local motorway and it seemed ok - down on power but ok. I traded it in and bought a Focus. I only paid a shade over 1400 quid for the Octy so couldn't justify the repair cost for a turbo. I was absolutely gutted. I got a healthy 2500 trade so definitely couldn't grumble. The guy at the garage said he was sending it to the auctions so no comebacks or anything! I still hope to stick around though. Thanks for everyones help. Dave.
  3. Speak to Pastyboy, he gets them and they're real quality. Can get you custom jobbies too if you so wish!
  4. I shall check that first thing in the morning!!! Thanks trundlenut!
  5. Hmm, maybe, just maybe I spoke too soon, it did it again last night. I booted it in neutral as far as it would go, and the black stuff POURED out the back, and it ran lumpy. Off/On with the igntion and all is well again. Hit the limiter again twice and no problems or smoke, but still have the whoosh/chatter sound when changing gear. Any problem pipes I should look for to see if they are split/missing/blown off? Cheers!
  6. Ok, just to finish this topic off. We replaced the MAP sensor and the N75 and it's back to it's good old self! Happy endings! Good times! Thanks to those that helped me out with suggestions etc. It's really appreciated!
  7. Yep, my mechanic went straight to this, behind the O/S headlight. I've ordered one, and an N75 for good measure. Fingers crossed!
  8. Not something I would have thought of... will have to check tomorrow when it's light. Could this cause the 17563 code??? I've also just got 17564 Manifold Pressure Sensor (G71): Open/Short to Ground. It's not going well! I'm not sure on smoke, however, I've just got the emissions code 17552, so looks like there may be! I'm starting to get quite worried now! Ha ha ha!
  9. I've also noticed that the car has now acquired a loud sucking and chattering noise when throttling off. Is this connected in any way???
  10. Hello Briskodians! I currently have a problem with the motor. When driving, if I stray above 2.5k-3k rpm, the turbo 'shuts down' with NO warning lights or anything. If I switch off and restart, it is fine again, until 2.5k-3k rpm and the whole saga starts again. The code is as follows: 17563 - Manifold Pressure Sensor (G71): Short to plus P1155 - 35-10 - - - Intermittent I disagree, it's NOT intermittent, its every bloody time! I've searched on here, and MAF, Sticky Vanes and replacement of the actual pressure sensor have all been mentioned. Any ideas? I may be selling an Octavia real soon! Cheers. Dave.
  11. Hello!!! I've noticed that my local Morrisons is flogging Bio-Diesel at the pumps. It says about checking with the Manufacturers before using it, but thought I would ask here... Anyone used it, thought of using it, or avoiding it like the plague? Cheers. Dave.
  12. I'm stunned - really lost for words. :'( Poor Estelle's and Rapid's
  13. happy to be here!

  14. Nankangs..... Hmm. A chap I know had them on his 200SX... ...he no longer has that car. Total & utter family-killers. Avoid like the plague!
  15. I'm confused!!! Ha ha ha!
  16. I've not been here long, but I LOVE this site. It's a mature and helpful place to be and I'm glad to be part of it. I know no-one (except Damo who I've briefly met) but I STILL feel 'part' of it. This sort of site doesn't run itself. I used to run a couple of smaller local sites for my area, and I know how much time/money they took to run and maintain, not to mention when there are nightmares like this to deal with. In summary, I've been here for 5 minutes, and had no problem 'donating' a quid to Colin, I'm not going to miss it, but if a few more put a quid (or whatever they like) in the kitty, it will be a nice thank you to the Admin. He will have put an enormous amount of (his own) time into this, just so we can post. If I want to give someone some money, I will. I've paid my taxes on it, and I'll give it to who I damn well please. If you don't want to, then no-one is saying you have to, it's called a choice. Rant over.
  17. I'm going to do this tomorrow. You still not had any moisture intrusion Jcb?
  18. Splendid! I thoight I had to remove the whole doorcard!!! Cheers!
  19. Do you have to remove the whole doorcard though Jcb? Or do the grilles remove by themselves?
  20. A requirement of HiD's is self levelling lights/suspension, so they can accurately and constantly point at the correct level, but I have NEVER been dazzled by a car with 'projector' lenses that have HiD's fitted, only regular reflector lenses CAN be a pain.
  21. I can't say I took any notice of what was behind mine when I changed it, but all you need plugged in are the two ISO connectors, one for power, one for speakers (the two female connectors on your harness) and the aerial. The other plug can only be your changer which is now redundant!!! Hope this helps.
  22. Good God, that is extortionate!
