  1. Ordered my Octavia SE 1.8TSI June 2009 with a spare steel as standard in the brochure......in the period until 17/09/16 when I took the keys the spare was removed from the build but mine did come with a complimentary steel spare from the dealer,,,,never been used!
  2. Read my post #280........I was expecting to make a contribution but as it had only been serviced a month before, I think they might have taken pity on me. £5038 on the bill but paid a £1.00 as a warranty contribution.
  3. On L&K trim you can set the seat, mirrors etc to the key as it then knows who has got in the car....one person 5ft tall and the other 6ft 6in.......all that is done for you.
  4. Octavia 1.8TSI registered 17/09/2009 Engine plate dated 24/08/2009. 4 SKODA services including 2 MOTs last one 27/08/2013. 4 new tyres and 2 dip beam bulbs (nothing else!) 10/10/13-exhaust management light appears, booked into Litecliffe Skoda/Pentraeth VW, Abergele. Earliest appointment 18/10/2013. 13/10/2013-drove 1 mile for the Sunday paper and car would not restart. Rescued by Skoda Assist and left at above dealer who also do VW. 38700 miles. 17/10/2013- it is confirmed that timing chain tensioner has failed and they had done a Golf with the same engine with the same fault the previous week. £2500 for a new engine with discount but contact SkodaUK for compensation payment. 18/10/2013-details taken by SkodaUK. 21/10/2013-25/10/2013-couple of phone calls to check progress. 28/10/2013-voicemail stating no payment will be due at dealers!! 29/10/2013-call to SkodaUK who confirmed this. Called at dealers who are ordering engine 30/10/2013 to fit early next week. 06/11/2013-call to dealer, a slight delay on the order of the engine……courtesy car offered due to the delay. 08/11/2013-picked up VW UP 1.O as a courtesy car………60bhp, the power was endless! 12/11/2013-picked up car with the new engine, plate dated 23/06/2013. Overall, I wish the fault had never occurred but it did and managed to stay calm until it was confirmed that the chain tensioner was at fault. Not having to pay anything was an added bonus for a car 13 months out of warranty. Happy with the dealer and I am glad that I had a 4th service with them(the undertray put me off to do an oil change for the first time in my life!)
  5. Remember F1 cars were running 1500cc turbo engines with some ridiculous bhp figues..........so 1200cc 30 years later with more technology and 105bhp on tap is more than enough.........I have driven similar size cars with 75/80 bhp over the years which also got to the 70mph limit ok. I will stick with my 1.8TSI and 160bhp though, as it gets to the 70mph limit very nicely!!
  6. Just had a 3 year service and the front pads were 20% worn and the rears 10% worn after 27500 miles according to the service report.
  7. Remember.........Formula 1 cars, only had 1500cc engines in the early 80s with a turbo.........having said that......they let go on a regular basis!
  8. As the Bolero takes 32GB cards why is anyone using mp3 with anything less than 320kpbs? When your MP3 player only held 128mb or less then a bit rate of 128kpbs was the only way to get a few albums on. You can hear the difference (at the same volume) of tracks recorded at different bit rates.
  9. Have you tried a full size SD card as I have not seen anything saying the micro SD can be used in the Bolero with an adapter?
  10. Have you tried the card on a PC to see if it does the same trick? What make/model card is it?
  11. The TSI cover is just a push fit on........and pull off 6 ball shaped mounting points........very little effort required.
  12. If you lift the bonnet the engine cover usually says what it is. http://s946.photobucket.com/albums/ad306/budgiebandolier/?action=view&current=26-09-2009002.jpg&newest=1
  13. I have a 1.8TSI in SE trim which I had under the scrappage scheme in Sep 2009 when I had wanted a 1.4TSI which could not be supplied within the 4 months allowed under scrappage. Are Skoda supplying 1.8TSI again due to engine shortages?
  14. Translated from a foreign language maybe?!!! Wonder how they describe the clutch? I would not order anything from them based on what they are describing.....maybe a spoof site to get your card details......who knows, who cares.......steer well clear.
  15. Do not forget to take into account the gradient you are on....up or down......30 in 6th down or 2nd up at 30....adjust gearing to the situation. How many times do you follow someone at a steady speed until they come to a hill and they try and go up it until their car comes to a near stop before they decide to change down a cog or two causing everyone else to apply the anchors and then a tail back suddenly happens.
  16. This is my 1.8TSI........you can see a green blob on top of the oil filter when it was 10 days old and after the first service it is now sporting a blue blob which is under the hose running over it now.....and yellow marks on the hose over the inlet manifold which have been there since I took the picture........it helps on the line when the car is being put together I imagine. My link
  17. What is the mileage? I would be disapointed to have anything more than an oil change and visual inspection on a first service.
  18. This has been discussed before here.... http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/152713-red-i/page__p__1900767__fromsearch__1#entry1900767
  19. If you use this link there is a PDF file in English which details the 2.0TSI engine which is identical to the 1.8TSI externally. http://www.mediafire.com/?z9zbbo9jsaeh87z
  20. Diameter of a circle = Circumference of the circle divided by pi(3.142 or 22/7 in old money) So measure it's girth(ooh err missus) and use the above formula.
  21. Cannot help with the correct wheels but this is a 1.8TSI in SE trim.
  22. That picture was taken 12 months ago at 10 days old with 250 miles on the clock!
  23. This is my 1.8TSI.............with that stub looking lonely!
  24. The spare wheel was dropped in the brochure from 01 July 09.........I had ordered mine in June 09 and was not pleased but dealer included one at no extra cost when I said that I would not drive a car without a spare........a can of gunk is no good with a damaged alloy rim!
