  1. LEDs are a massive improvement I found. When I put the old ones back in before selling it, they were so yellow. If you have puddle lights, make sure you do those too as it makes so much difference
  2. Yea, still on FB and I have had his number for years so I would imagine it is the same
  3. Yea, I chatted to him a few weeks ago and he said similar. I bug him on whatsapp instead
  4. what a complete ballache. It is an easy job. I ran the mic up the drivers a pillar by remove it and wedging it in at the top. I did try the oem place which is near the lights in the headlining, but people I called complained of wind noise and I couldn't sort the sound deadening to stuck with the on view a pillar look
  5. I know they are star ones, but cannot recall the size. Best thing to do is buy a little screwdriver pack with stars, hex, flat and phillips. I have one I got from ebay and it is brilliant, use it all the time.
  6. You should be fine, the stereo is quite easy to remove. If you take the top box out too, makes it easier to get the radio back in as you will no doubt have lots of wires to hide
  7. I bought a nextbase hardwire kit to the the mini comes straight from a box mounted under the dash, no USB at all to work with. In the Octavia, it fit just behind the rearview mirror. My screen mount has arrived today, the sticky one so I am hoping this will fit the same so that no adaptor is required. Finger crossed
  8. Slight resurrection of an old post, but what right angled adaptors have you guys used to help with wires please? I am looking at this but wondered if anyone bought from maplins or a store please?
  9. hehe, glad you like yours. Yes, sorry you are right, it does have the winter pack. Tried it this morning and lasted all of a minute before I got too warm and switched it off  First drive in the night and I really like the interior, just a lovely place to be and those lights are such an upgrade from the Octavia, so impressed
  10. Collected it on Saturday, nice 80 mile drive home with it and I am well chuffed. It is a 63 plate, Jan 2014 184fr mk3 Leon. No plans what so ever as it comes with everything I need: Tech pack - uprated sat nav stereo incl DAB and LED lights Convenience Pack - auto lights, wipers and auto dimming mirror Seat Sound - 10 speakers plus sub 18s It seems these days manufacturers are trying to save money so most cars I looked at came with slime, thankfully the first owner ticked the spare wheel box. Only thing I need to do is hard wire the dash cam and put my plates and surrounds on, but that is it. I sold my STS kit with my other car so I won't be re-mapping to 235bhp. Anyway, a couple of pics. Will update with some more when I get out later First shot when I got home. Got the seal of approval from the lad, fast asleep and dribbling on my seat belt  Tried, but on the phone it didn't pick up the LEDs very well. They do look really smart and are soo bright. Looking forward to using it on the back roads at night Drivers side view, the red glow is from the lights in the door cards. Red in sport mode, white in any other mode. At present, I am quite like sport  Dial view, engine off. Has the sweep feature when you start-up and all fully colour display with views for everything you can think of. The sat-nav display was really helpful when coming back from Luton where we collected the car Couple more of the dash in better light
  11. I thought the ride was fine, slightly stiffer than my 10 year old octavia, but nicer. The octavia can wallow a bit now, but understandable really. I really like the interior, on a par with the top end VWs. Was my choice of colour if I could find one with all the toys
  12. My wife works at VW and spec for spec, sooo much more money. TD GT is the same as the FR This will be my interior, but normal seats as the image shows alcantara. Also I will have heated seats not that I need them I also quite like the ST, but they are far newer and well out of my 10k budget
  13. yea, couldn't bring myself to leave VAG. Would have stayed Skoda, but the Fabia or Rapid weren't specced the same as the Leon.
  14. The majority of my skoda ownership, 8.5 years has been spent in the Octavia, just shy of 7 years with the remaining in Fabia VRS. Thankfully the VRS ownership didn't put me off, it was just a dud we bought. The Octavia has been brilliant and sad to see it go. Ownership has been pretty good, Fabia had issues with leaky doors, but that was an easy fix. It was in an accident that we only found out when things went wrong, but you live and learn. The actual car wasn't bad. The Octavia has needed a new turbo and the AC compressor needs changing. Not bad for a car on 124,000 miles and 10 years old. My wife bought a Grand C Max nearly 2 years ago, so my estate was purely for me and a bit overkill. Soo I have been looking on and off for quite some time, accelerated after a test drive a month or so ago reaffirming my decision to change. I had decided to wait another year, but when my wife said it would be a good idea to change before the Octavia was worthless, I jumped at the chance. I put my Octavia on facebook thinking it would take a while, but a good friend of mine was apparently looking for an estate and it was sold within minutes. They looked at it yesterday, test drove and we will be collecting next Sunday. Saturday I will be collecting this 181bhp, tech pack, winter pack, convenience pack on 52k. Get a years warranty with it so pretty happy. No plans to do anything other than fit my metal plates, mobius and some VCDS bits. No plan to leave Briskoda as I still like reading about the cars and my Dad wants an L&K superb when he retires in a couple of years
  15. Big shame. I am not on here as frequently as I have in the past, but he was always very helpful and knowledgable. Thankfully I have kept in contact and will continue to do so as he is a really nice bloke.
  16. I guess they just aren't strong enough for the cars. My wife's golf suffered the same fate. They were replaced with eibachs, wish I had done that now, but the spring only has to last 18 months and then I can get a new car
  17. 13 months after the last one, my OSR spring goes again. This time it went ping and made an awful racket when driving so was a little more obvious. I know have a golf spring instead of the Euros one. Speaking of Euros, awaiting phone call as just over a year or less than 15,000 miles is poor.
  18. That is me. I live miles away so it worked for me. You also get an immobiliser setting where even you with your key cannot start the car
  19. You cant swap the map, the STS will allow you to clear faults on the new car, but you will need to pay for and download a new map for a different car.
  20. My first thought too. I see it all the time, woman don't seem to care.
  21. New turbo fitted at the weekend and no more limp mode which is nice. However, the issue that I had also was that the turbo didn't spool till later, 1.5k changed to 2k. This has not changed. My car was remapped nearly 6 years ago via Shark and their STS box. Do you think I will have to re-do the mapping or am I stuck with this and have to change my driving style?
  22. you could try a straw with tape on the end or something similar to get in through the bulb hole?
  23. The metal clips aren't too close to the surface and they need pushing in for it to come straight out. If you look at the new one, you will see what I mean and where to locate the card(s). Also you will do no harm to the car, but might make a mess of the cards edges slightly so use an old one you aren't too fussed about. Trust me there is no chance you will damage the car, but the vent is crap anyway if you were to
  24. An old store card should help. Stick the card where you know the clips are and pull out. Should work fine. I did this in my old Fabia as I replaced one when the original owner broke a couple.
  25. I like that holder, nice work fella. Same phone as me, too
