Where is the egr valve? 1.4 16v ...I`m lost :(
stemcell replied to stemcell's topic in Skoda Fabia Mk I (1999-2007)
I`ve looked into what engine I have and I believe its the AUB version, my car is a 2001 1.4 16v Fabia, I`ve downloaded all the pdf`s off the mediafire site but none of them are for the AUB engine :( Even a basic drawing in ms paint will do . -
On my Fabia its the plastic underneath the steering column that rattles, it took me a whole year to find the rattle as I thought it sounded like it was coming from higher up in the car. When it starts to rattle I just push or pull the plastic under the steering column either to the left or right and it goes away. .

Just a bump as I am keen to make a start .

Can anyone else comment who have done it themselves, whether you do have to remove the gear linkage?. Thanks. .
-
My starter motor has started sticking for an extra second, I would like to remove and refit so I was wondering if there a specific guide to do this?. I remember seeing one for a VW but don't want to get stuck halfway through....oh and is it an easyish job to do?. .

fabia Steering angle sensor replacement cost?
stemcell replied to stemcell's topic in Skoda Fabia Mk I (1999-2007)
I tried to get one cheaper than the £115 from skoda but nothing, I too saw the eBay one. . Thought I had found a bargain until I noticed it was for a left hand version. I was tempted to pop into my local scrappers but the other half said no. . -
Fabia - Power Steering issues - Again
stemcell replied to splocious's topic in Skoda Fabia Mk I (1999-2007)
I went down the battery route first as it was the cheaper option... I always try the cheapest things first Battery cost me £65 for a Bosch and later £115 for the sensor and fitting on top. . -

fabia Steering angle sensor replacement cost?
stemcell replied to stemcell's topic in Skoda Fabia Mk I (1999-2007)
Thanks for the reply devonutopia, apart from my dealer where can I source the part? Checked the local suppliers and even visited ebay, I will call round my local independents who work on skoda or vw's to get a more realistic labour cost. -
I`ve narrowed down the fault on my fabia 1.4 16v (2001) to the steering angle sensor (thanks to the search function), my dealer wants £120 and another £130 to fit it (DM Keith Huddersfield)....which to me seems alot. I can`t do it myself as I cannot get the car up high enough, what sort of labour cost should I be looking at?. Cheers

I`ve had this problem, took me ages to sort it out, anyhow....(cannot sync baud rate) error, just change the baud rate from 0 to 9600 in the program options of VCDS . I found it better to restart the laptop and turn of the ignition for at least 20 secs after making any changes. If you get poor latency go to the com port in device manager change the latency from 16 (work downwards...ie 12/8/4/2) .

Mine failed because the orange indicator bulb....wait for it.......was not orange enough!. Remember what the insurance companies are like, anything they can find to get out of paying out they will use it...so why give them a reason?. .
-
I am going to clean my throttle body as the car is pinking (recently serviced including plugs & tried higher octane fuel), my question is their a guide on cleaning it?. I have VCDS lite but have no idea on how to use it to reset the throttle body (I only know how to read and clear codes)....so if someone could help here with a basic tut I would be forever grateful. Oh I have a Fabia 1.4 16v .....laugh all you like .

00301 - ABS Return Flow Pump (V39)
stemcell replied to Runner's topic in Skoda Fabia Mk I (1999-2007)
Fuse is really simple to change yourself, I bought mine from my local skoda dealer & it cost about £2.50. . -
Read docdlb (post 7 ) on this thread HERE as fordfan says its a good chance the 40a fuse is cracked, 2 min job to check and there are pics for you to see which one to check.. Mine had gone the other week and it was the same symptons as yours, bought a new fuse for less than £2 from my local dealer and fitted it....lights out immediately.
-
Thread from the dead!......I dont suppose you still have the guide backed up do you ?....I could really do with it .
-
Preferred is 5w30 but sometimes the engine may get a little noisy when hot as I believe it thins out, so I use the alternative 10w40 which copes better with the heat......please correct me if I`m wrong. .

VAG COM (Huddersfield willing to travel) Help!
stemcell replied to stemcell's topic in Diagnostics & VCDS
Me and onintks have just been over to see radioone (chris) in Glosop, he is a credit to the forum, a good laugh and very helpful ..... his dad was cool too . Got both our Fabias read, cleared most of the errors and now know what to do with the ones that remain....oh and mine now bleeps when i lock it -
Hi, just got my fabia back from the accident repair center after a Toyota hilux slammed into the back of me. Problem is the EPC light is now on and they want me to pay ££ to diagnose the problem, even though it has only come on when they have had it for the last 10 days. I have tried saying they should cover it as it may be an electric fault...but its a no go, so i called my insurance who say they will do the test, but if it comes back as a fault from the front of the car I still have to pay the ££ :(. So can someone with a VAG COM please help...I will bring beer tokens and the possibility of more tokens if my brother can bring his fabia too...his air con is faulty + I think his anti hijack door locking is annoying him :P checked brake lights ...good Checked ht leads...good
