  1. All Seat interior is an absolut no-go for me, that was the reason why I chose the Octavia over the Toledo....so for me it would be no difficult decision at all....
  2. OSRAM Nightbreakers definitely do have a shorter life, but they really are a bit brighter. I myself at the moment got myself two sets of H7s and two sets of H1s of those Tesla bulbs off LIDL. At a rate of 4,99 Euros they are a steal and their beam is quite good as well. They come as extra bright and extra blue, my favourite is the bright version....
  3. Guess that Mitsubishi Colt doesnt really bother about that.... @Deer-BMW Boy, he must have hit it at lightspeed...
  4. Yep, definitely it also fits the other models. @Ian2494 Are u really sure it is a good idea to get a car that has got 200000 miles equalling 320000 km's - which is a point at which I would scrap my cars.... If you have financial reasons - wouldn't it be wiser to get a smaller, cheaper car with less mileage instead?
  5. Looks like someone pulled the Oktavia Grille and headlights to length and then constructed a car around it....
  6. phew, that is a lot.....I think at that mechanical age you cant give any general tipps.....maybe except to take someone with you who knows the trade....
  7. Same on mine....I did that job jonnycatbisquit said as well, altho not to that extend....I painted them in one go with the colour coded stick and then once again with the transparent stick.....failed to polish as yet but it looks good if you dont get too close....
  8. Another advantage of the aforementioned expensive Skoda- and Mercedes stuff is that it is not smelling at all.... Mind you, I would never pay 45 Euros for it, I got mine gratis from the friend at Mercedes....
  9. A check on the german Skoda-page reveals that it is packed in 25-bottles-boxes: The stuff is fabulous, I have got a box from it by someone working at a Mercedes-dealer: Although, to be honest, I use it in an way not quite intended: I fill a 5 litre cannister with water and put one of those bottles in it. I have made the experience that if you put one bottle per filling of the octavias water tank the resulting liquid gets a little thick. But it really works absolutely perfect, especially with those "Fächerdüsen" (water nozzles - don't know the correct english word ...) the Octavia is equipped with.
  10. I have a classic too with Stream MP3 and can say that it does not have speakers at rear and also no wires prefabricated. We installed my hands free phone kit yesterday and during that we noticed that there are no RR+, RL+, RR- and RL- wires connected to the quadlock plug. The Stream itself DOES support 4 speakers, it has fader controls. I myself dont really need them anyway, the front systems are ok as they are...
  11. Honestly, how stupid can you get? Indian takeaway on leather seats????? Thats what cars have floor mats for ;-) @Themeopener Sorry, don't want to have a go at your wife but that really is annoying....
  12. I think in the end it always depends on your experiences with previous cars and what you really want / need in your car. 2 years ago I bought a Renault Megane with limited resources of 10000 Euros I had available. As I also wanted a nice plushy trim I went for a luxe privilege top-of-the-range model. To make it fit into my budget I had to stretch to 80000 kms of mileage on the car. This is a thing I had better not done because in the 18 months after that the car took some 4000 Euros in repairs .... mainly on warranty but it didn't look like it would be over once the warranty ended. So, now with the Octavia I made a different approach. I had 14000 Euros to spend and I only went for an example with maximum warranty left, minimum age and mileage and ended up with a classic model. OK, it's got the Climatic AC, remote controlled central locking and the double layered boot floor, but also manual windows and black mirrors and roofrail and stuff like that. But it got a full 2 years of manufacturers warranty left is is from 08/2007 - in my (current) view this weighs more than buying a car with many toys and 80000 kms on the clock. So, what I am trying to say is, don't let yourself be blinded by too much toys if you are limited on cash and try to find a good compromise between mileage and costs and all that.... Elsewhere I agree, Elegance is THE way to go if compare all the versions available... Don't forget to post pictures once you found your car....
  13. I agree with you there ;-) I prefer the more sinister looks of the preFL model to the FL....don't know, I somehow think the Octavia's got more character before the FL. Anyway: @themeopener The white vRS is a fantastic car, hope you have lots of fun with it. And I also don't think it has to be lowered. Cheers from Germany...
  14. Hi folks, first of all, being from Germany I wish to greet all of you staying or working here ;-) To be honest, I didn't know that stuff like flatbeaming was necessary in the first place....even when staying longer I thought that british cars were british cars and the other way round in the UK....I have been over many times and never changed anything on my lights. OK, in earlier times the headlights had those shaped glassfronts where you could use black adhesive tapes, but since these are no longer common I thought nothing had to be changed any more....strange ;-) As for the winter tires, slo007 ist right.....you are not forced to use WT, but once something happens you get problems with your insurance. Cheers from Cologne, Marco
