  1. Hi Bod20 I had found that link but saw that it was the Eu maps - I need the maps that cover NZ. However, by replacing the link with MRM2 I could get to the file I think I need - it's downloading now. There was no 1030 version of this dataset so downloaded the 1010 version. Might all be unnecessary as the car I am yet to pick up is manufactured Nov 2017 so may already have the latest file onboard! Too impatient to wait and see. Alastair
  2. Has anyone else had trouble with the downloader tool for the sat-nav updates that you get from https://updateportal.skoda-auto.com/? It appears the server is down and has been so for a week or more as I always get the following error when I try it
  3. Solved Dealer had a look, found a piece of "debris" inside - and now it works fine - no charge, and they also ran diagnostics and found no problems so all good Alastair
  4. Hi All I have managed to do something to the armrest on the jumbobox on our new car. I forgot that it slides and rested my arm and used it is an anchor to swivel on as I reversed out of the garage and it slid forward suddenly. Now it won't slide back properly and is very stiff - I suspect it's come off a rail or something inside. I swear I didn't use much force! It's going to the service dept at the dealer on Monday for a checkover (it's new but not brand new and I wanted to check the diagnostics and also ask about fitting a towbar), so will ask them to have a look at it then. Has anyone else experienced this and was it easily fixed. If it needs to be repaired do you think I can claim this under warranty - it shouldn't be that easy to break the mechanism surely Alastair
  5. VW has a big profile - as does Audi - there must be hundreds of times more sales of both compared to Skoda. The local VW dealer has VW, Audi but no skoda for sale. They do Skoda services though - hope that's not going to be a problem for servicing - the lack of other skodas to practice on or experience in ordering parts etc.
  6. In my 2009 pre-FL, the manual says "the windscreen washer nozzles are heated* when the ignition is switched on" The dreaded * of course means my car may or may not have it - but the point here is that there is an option to do that - so would be surprised if this isn't an option in the FL models too. Incidentally - my jets are set too high and mostly go over the roof even driving at motorway speed - I assume this is easy to adjust. Only got the car on Sunday and haven't had a chance to look at them yet.
  7. Hi All another New Zealand member - seems like there is at least one other here, but not many Skodas in NZ (yet). That may change as two govt departments have started adding Octavias to their fleets and retail sales are building. We have just picked up our 2009 pre-FL Octavia combi 1.9 PD 6000 km demonstrator in silver in what appears to be almost the elegance spec - 17" Zenith alloys, rear parking aid, cruise control, duo climatronic, auto wipers, passenger seat compartment, but sadly no maxi-dot (though the half-sized screen gives most functions of the maxidot, on toggling through them), no multi-function steer wheel (though it is leather), no light assist. I might consider adding a tow-bar, luggage false floor, and a Bolero, MF steering wheel and maxidot would be nice but not really necessary. Getting things retrofitted here may be difficult and expensive. First impressions - very nice - like the cruise control and the trim, and the fact that we drive a car that almost nobody else has even heard of! Alastair
