  1. Some git reversed into my roomie and drove off. The rear bumper is badly cracked; as far as I can tell nothing metal is bent or busted. The rear door is ok and I pulled out the spare wheel to check the bay it sits in hasn't changed shape. I had look on youtube for howto videos on replacing the rear bumper, but I couldn't find one. I have a few questions I'm hoping someone can help me with; i.) Are there any instructions - preferable as video - on how to change the bumper on a roomster ? ii.) Is it moderately easy DIY ( I've replaced the door lock and door card on a fiesta before, that's about the level / limit of my mechanic abilities ) iii.) Is there anything inside the bumper ( reinforcement, whatever ) that I should be checking for damage ?
  2. Ah, it's a wiring problem :( There's two brown and two red wires that go into the back of the bulb holder for the projector bulb - both brown wires are damaged very near the mounting point. It looks like a bit of solder will sort them out ( they look half-cut, or maybe fatigued, and then they've pulled loose with the projector unit turning ). Does anyone know it ifts possible to unlcip this wire further up the chain so that I can remove it before attempting a repair, as there's not a lot of room to work in ?
  3. It's a fair point, I've got another spare I can try that too
  4. Hi all, I'm hoping someone can offer some suggestions - My driver side ( right side ) headlight unit is not working. Neither the main/low beam nor the sidelight will come on, although the indicator still works. I changed the main beam bulb and no joy ( there was no sign of the previous one being broken ), I swapped the #58 and #57 fuses out, this also didn't help. Next guess is something wrong with the earth point for the unit ? Does this sound likely ? This is a 56 plate roomster, but I'm posting to the fabia II forum because AFAIK the car's the same at the front and more people will read it here The headlight module is the cornering variety. Any help appreciated. Thx
  5. I'm quite tempted by this ... I really like the yellow color that you can get fabias, octavias and rapids in ... but no yellow roomsters :( Mine's a mid blue that I quite like but still, Yellow, y'know, it beckons ...
  6. I thought they made a MkII Sedan in India that everyone was getting muddle up with the rapid ( for obvious reasons ), but I can't find any details. There's a MkI sedan parked outside my office most days; it's an ugly contraption, which has always puzzled me when the Cordoba ( the Ibiza sedan of the same era ) looks completely natural with its boot. They made the Cordoba with anything up to the 130bhp lump; as far as I can tell the Mk1 fabia sedan was only available with an SDI. bah.
  7. As it says Make and not Model, I reckon you're in the clear here. The front half of the Roomster is clearly derived from the Mark II Fabia. The fact that there's a separate Fabia Estate might confuse things ... but it ought to be in your favour that the Roomster has more cargo space than the Fabia Estate. Good Luck. Jobsworth eejits !
  8. My thoughts too ... I went to see a liftback Rapid at a dealers, and asked why the seats didn't fold flat, when I'm used to skoda making clever, practical cars ... he had the decency to look embarrassed. For me, unfortunately, it's a deal-breaker :(
  9. The car finally got rained on properly ... and I can confirm that changing the cabin filter has solved the problem I also notice that the car doesn't steam up, so I don't think I have any leaks to deal with, thankfuly. The Philips X-Treme lights are nice, and neither better nor worse than the osram nightbreakers that I've used in the past ( on a fiesta ) - defo a step up over 'standard' ( e.g Halfords ) H7s.
  10. My 56 plate has cornering lights. This seems to mean two things - first, the headlights swivel, and secondly, it turns on the foglight on the side I'm turning to ( or indicating to, i forget ) at low speeds.
  11. I heard that rumour, but then I can't see it being different enough to the Yeti to be worth keeping. The Touran is pretty wide, isn't it ? I wish they'd put 4x4 on the Roomie scout. That'd be my dream
  12. My guess is that if they make a MkII Roomie - as opposed to a facelift - that it'll be based on the Rapid, with the kind of relationship to the rapid that the ford C-Max used to have to the focus; i.e same car as the sportback but taller with a sqaured off ass-end, only saved by having varifold seats thrown in. It'll look blander too, as there's plenty of precedent for 'awkward' looking cars being toned-down in their second generation. See Fiat Multipla, for example. Or even the yeti, which lost it's cheerful round headlights, didn't it ? :(
  13. I've changed the filter ... now if it rains over the weekend I'll see if it makes any difference. I also put in philips x-treme H7 headlight bulbs, ready to try out for tonight's 170 mile commute. They didn't look that much brighter in the garage, but out on the road is the real test.
  14. *fingers crossed* for you ... but the Roomster is a lovely machine, and with service history you should be fine
  15. Richard and Mozzie, thanks for the suggestions ... if I can't sort if out with the cabin filter, I will try both of those ! The cat-litter is particularly inventive
