  1. hi guys, the unfortunate time has come for me to sell my octavia vrs my little girl (not so little now) has just started her senior school which is a further 10 miles away from where my sons school is and my wife is now having to do 180 miles a week just droping both the children off to school, and both our parents live 60 miles away and we visit them fairly often, and with work being fairly slow at the moment we have decided that it would make sense to sell our car and get an oil burner anyway enough of the sob story i have found BRISKODA to be a great source of information and it helped me to know what to look for when first buying the vrs, and then look after it and hopefully even help to sell it. So i just thought it would be appropriate to say a BIG THANKYOU to all of the briskoda members and organisers who have took the time out to give me their help & advice over the last year which has undoubtably helped me get to the bottom and resolve a few problems that i had with the car, which then led on to me being able to enjoy it. ill be very sad to let it go, its just one of those type of cars i suppose. hopefully my circumstances will change in the future and can return to the site and update my profile with the mk2 octavia vrs but for now THANKS AGAIN regards nick
  2. hi there, i have reluctantly decided to sell my octavia vrs after a painful few weeks of deciding if i should or shouldnt. it is a silver 52 reg with 122000 miles on the clock, fsh and has had loads of money spent on it over the last 9-10 months here is a link http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=290471737426&ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT
  3. hi there, be very carefull if your thinking of buying from euro car parts as i purchased new shocks all round for my octavia vrs and they were not the right ones. I returned them and asked them to check the part numbers and they told me they had supplied the correct ones according to their catalogue, they also physically checked the ones listed for the leon cupra and the r32 shocks (as they are supposed to be the same) and they were all coming up the same part number? the problem is the front shocks, they have a fixing eye missing which connects the little tie bar between the shock absorber and the wishbone ( i think thats correct) however none of the shocks they checked had this fixing eye pressent. in the end i ended up ordering some fk shocks from venom motorsports which were very resonably priced and although they state that they are 20-25% firmer, by retaining the standard springs ive not noticed any real difference to the ride comfort. i hope thats of some help to you, and good luck. whatever you do dont make the mistake i made though, i had the car up in the air in a garage removed all the shocks and then found out that id been supplied the wrong parts and had to re-fit the old ones . here you go matey http://www.venommotorsport.com/manufacturer_product.php?manufacturer=FK&category=suspension&product=HighTechFrontDampers&make=Skoda&model=Octavia best just to call them, i found them really helpfull and seem to know what their talking about.
  4. why dont you pm bowders1 he has a silver vrs which he was about to fit a wrc spoiler to, in fact there is a thread with his car pictured with the wrc spoiler tempary fitted. ill try and find it and add the link. there you go matey :- http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/158593-rear-spoiler-conundrum/page__p__1957737__fromsearch__1entry1957737
  5. hi bowders, id really like to see a couple of pics of your car with the wrc spoiler fitted as i have been contemplating buying one myself
  6. i most definately will, ive been meaning to join for a long time thanks again guys.
  7. thanks guys, youve really opened my eyes to a previously un-educated attitude to engine tuning, i was completely ignorant to the amount of modifications and amount of money that is required to achieve such little gains, a few years back i had a fiat coupe 20vt that was 220bhp standard, i had a replacement ecu chip from a forum member (graham L chips) and a simple air box mod and that achieved 258bhp on a rolling road, and lots of other coupe owners achieved 300bhp with little more than a fmic, and an uprated turbo? i just assumed that all petrol turbo cars were easy to make more powerful  i guess with regards to the coupe, it has a better starting point for performance gains being a 2.0l 5 cylinder engine? i love the car as it is, its plenty powerful for me but as we all know you could always do with more based on the information all of you have given, i thing ill just settle with what i have to save ploughing money into the car for possibly not much return. so thanks guys for opening my eyes into the tuning world i can now see how so many people manage to spend thousands of pounds on their cars, however thats not for me i just thought i could add some extra horses simply by adding an exhaust and an fmic i guess i was wrong then
  8. wow it seems i underestimated exactly how much money would need to be spent just for an extra 10-20bhp. so were looking at turbo back exhaust £550 ish, front mount £250-300, tip £100ish, another remap £400 so total spend = £1,250 roughly for 10-20 bhp i think i may have to give it some thought, that seems like a lot of money for not much return, in fact barely noticeable :(
  9. i read mixed reviews on the tip, does it really make much difference? i assumed fmic would be required and an exhaust, is cat back ok or do i need to have racing cat as well?
  10. hi guys, im just about to order one of these cai kits of ebay and then replace the filter for a decent one, any recommendations for a tried and tested cone filter would be appreciated. also considering spending a little money to increase power, what would you recommend and in what order? the car is at pressent running 210 bhp with an amd remap, and pipecross pannel filter thats about it performance wise. id like to get up to 240-250 bhp as long as it isnt going to cost me a stupid amounts of money. any help and advice would be very much appreciated. thanks nick
  11. wow thats nice and cheap, where did you have them done?
  12. ill have to see what it looks like once they are removed.
  13. they come as a pair matey, im not sure why there are two listed? they also stock and can get hold of more than what is listed on their website so it may well be worth calling them, they might have or be able to get you the bump stops?
  14. thanks for that, it looks like the wifes hairdryer is going to be used for more than hair drying over the weekend
  15. hi there, i bought my top mounts from euro car parts and they are very reasonable. try here http://www.eurocarparts.com/ecp/c/Skoda_Octavia_1.8_2002/p/Car-Parts/Suspension-and-Steering/Suspension/Suspension-Mountings hope thats of some help nick
  16. yes your probably right £300 does seem a bit steep when i think about it. i wonder how much the door bump strips are? i could buy some of them first maybe, or prehaps i should shop around and get a few more quotes. the bumper strips just pop out dont they?
  17. hi guys, has anyone attempted to colour code their black bumper inserts & side strips themselves? i understand that preperation is key and that some sort of flex additive or flexible primer is recomended? i have seen one briskoda members car (oggy if i remember correctly?) in another thread thats had them colour coded and i think it realy lifts the car and looks ive had a quote from a local body shop of £300, which is probably fair but if its possible to do it yourself then i may consider having a crack at it as im a little short of cash at the moment. i have sprayed wing mirrors/ reversing sensors and other small items in the past with pretty good results, but this is a much larger task so i thought id ask you guys for your advice / opinions. if any of you have had a go and can give me some guidance id be gratefull. one other thing, if i decide to give it a go and it doesnt go so well, do any of you know how much i would be looking at for replacement bumper & door strips? thanks nick
  18. i'll have to give them a try then, it seems like robbery paying £25 for one drivers side matt when you can have a full set for a little over £30. cheers dave, much appreciated
  19. nice job mate, did you have to cut the holes out in the front matts as well ? only the ones ive seen on ebay look like the fronts already have the holes cut out, but the rears dont?
  20. yes i expected as much, the front drivers is the one i need. what dealers did you get yours from?
  21. they look quite good, but unless someone can vouch for them ill steer clear. and if u had a full set for sale id be interested, but its the fronts i need. thanks for your feedback though.
  22. hi guys, can someone tell me where i can get some octavia vrs matts other than the dreaded stealers
  23. thanks for that rob, so the sai and the n112 can certainly be removed with no ill effects then? and did you remove them for any reason other than asthetics and does it bring the ecu light up on the dash once removed? my car has the annoying spluttering / missing characteristics from cold for the first 10-20 seconds which seems to be linked to the sai from some of the threads ive read, would removing it cure that problem then? the n249 system sounds a little more important? is there any risk of engine damage by removing this? and again does this bring up the fault code light on the dash? thanks again for your time in explaining it to me rob. regards nick
  24. hi all, ive seen a few threads regarding the removal of the n249,212 & sai, excuse my ignorance but why are people removing them? im quite curious to know what benefits there are and what downsides there are removing the above? an explanation of what these features are and what they do would be greatly appreciated so i can have a better understanding of them, that way i can make my own mind up if i should leave well alone or remove them. ive seen a couple of how to guides on removal of the sai and to be honest its a little shocking just how many parts are removed and thats just the sai part. this leaves me thinking surely there will be some sort of negative after effects? as i say excuse my ignorance, but if anyone can spare the time to explain all or some of it to me id be very gratefull. thanks nick
  25. hi all, im seriously condsidering the milotec bumper grilles as i think they look great, and i was just wondering where would be the best place to get them from? ideally id rather buy from a uk company so i dont have to wait too long, but im open to all suggestions. also i would consider any other alternatives to the milotec ones if there are any? thanks for your help guys nick
