  1. My experience is identical to previous members. Before Christmas, dealership (Rainworth Skoda) at first rejected the possibility of a cable different to the red one, because nothing showed on their system. They blamed the non-connectivity on my 2006 iPod. Last week, armed with a brand new birthday present 160gb Classic I resumed discussions. A day later they contacted me and said that a) there is no alternative cable to the red one on the system, but they had 'made enquiries' and found that there is another cable and which they had ordered. It works a treat. It also works a treat with my 2006 60gb job Here are the details in full. It has a blue band at the Mitsumi end. The lead makes a right handed junction with the insert into the iPod (the red lead is a straight insert). The numbers on the part are: 5E0.051.510 16.02.13 IC40417/RO-39518. Good luck!
  2. I've got tin ears and I find it hard to optimise the sound on the Amunsden in a mk 3 combi. Does have anyone have suggestions/recommendations about the settings of the bass, treble and mid-tone controls, so that the quality of the speech sound is not too much sacrificed at the expense of the music sound?
  3. Thanks for what sounds like a great tip, Neily. My lead is red…I'll check out the blue one next week and post the results up.
  4. I've just taken delivery of a Mk3 combi with Amunsden. I specced it with the Mitsumi connection and dealership supplied cable. My iPod classic (5th gen, I think, c 2006) won't connect. Grrr, but an iPod nano (4th gen. c 2009 will). Good sound. Dealership are puzzled but their audio expert is on hols for another 10 days so I'm waiting for him to check out out. I've just synched a Galaxy S3 through the bluetooth link without any trouble.
  5. I've just collected a denim blue, mk3 combo. It was my fourth choice colour, done from a sampler. It's great - I positively like it rather than 'will just put up with it'. I'll post some pics in a day or so when I've worked out where best to fit the Aga and how to programme the 'Infotainment system' for 'slow simmer'.
  6. I've just picked up my new mk3 combi. Despite the cost we had ordered a dog guard. It wasn't fitted. What we learned was this: 1. (As has been posted) some of the fittings involve drilling into the roof. But the holes need to be drilled by a special-Skoda supplied tool which does not tear up the roof liner in the process. My supplier had done just that 3 weeks ago. Dealer's impression was that because the guard is expensive, few dealers have been asked to fit them and may well not know that a Skoda-supplied tool has to be used. My dealer only found out when they contacted mission control at Skoda to get advice about the damaged roof liner. 2. The guard can remain in place whilst the rear seats are folder down. 3. The guard can be removed by the owner using an 'ordinary' spanner. But my dealer is checking that! 4. Guard, when it is situ doesn't interfere with the boot cover.
  7. I have paddles on my Mk2 elegance 1.4 TSI, DSG and have just ordered them on same Mk3 estate. The DSG is least good on steep Derbyshire downhills: it quickly drops down the gears and over-revs for my taste so the paddles enable me to fully control the shifts so that I'm at the speed I want at revs that are not howling; also, as others have said for extra safe overtaking. I never use the gear lever to shift gears; I like the ability to control the car just by the wheel and the right foot. I get no psycho-kick at all from waggling my left foot and arm about. And the DSG can shift the gears more quickly and efficiently than ever I could
  8. Odd, illogical questions. The second section 'have you received your Occy yet?' seems only interested in 'not yet received' in either September or Scandinavia. Hmmm.
  9. Thanks guys, good advice both. I've never quite trusted the colour samplers after I used them to make a wrong choice of colour on a passat. I thought I'd picked a rather stylish funky yellow, not egg yolk orange. Rainworth (Notts) Skoda this morning confirmed that Grey is about to be unavailable and that so too is petrol blue - which looked good in your pics, Hawkster. Apparently a significant factor in affecting the build dates is whether or not your order includes the panoramic sunroof. My order will include that and so probably push the whole thing to after the deletion of the colours. Dealer thought the reason for the loss of these two popular colours was due to licences on them expiring (I don't dig it, either). Looks like Denim blue.
  10. I'm finding it almost impossible to work out what the Oct. Mk. 3 colours look like. The local dealers have a couple of cars to view, mostly grey (respectable but unexciting (well...boring) ) or racing blue (clearly very popular, but I'm not even a middle aged racer, more an elderly military medium sort of cove with a partner who has views). Silver, beige, rust and brown seem dreary and anonymous (and hard to find in a car park when you've forgotten where you've left it). Over the years I've had reds, whites and a blacks and wearied of them. As a result, I'm left with the other two blues. I don't trust the pics much - too many misleading reflections or deep shade, - nor the little dabs of colour on the configurator or in the brochure. The videos on YouTube and pictures on here seldom mention the colour. So....does anyone have any idea of the RGB values of: denim blue and petrol blue? I can identify those and play with them in different sorts of light and shade. Any help welcome!
  11. Thanks for all the info Yeti_Man. Do you have a date for the build/availability for the 1.4TSI DSG? I have that combo on my saloon and think it's great but I need to move to an Estate. I'm lowish mileage with dodgy left leg so the petrol 1.4 DSG is perfect.
  12. I bought a 1.4TSI with the DSG box, 10 months ago. It's perormance closely matches my old Passat 1.8. though with a far better mpg. It's the best engine/box combination I've driven: quiet and responsive with a lively, but not demented turbo (on 'normal'). It's just effortless except going down v steep hills in the Peak - it tends to engage a very low gear with consequent v high revs. I've now got the hang of using the paddles to over-ride it.
  13. I've this week had the same problem; between ordering in May 09 and delivery in August, Skoda changed the Elegance spec. Dealer either didn't pick it up or, if they did, failed to tell me. I insisted on having the missing spare wheel and they have promised to supply me as soon as they get their hands on one.
