  1. Yeah I have maxi dot and im in glasgow. The car is one of the vrs le models that have the facelift dashboard fitted. Its been so random it wouldn't normally bother me but I'm driving to south of france with it in july and don't relish the thought of it throwing a wobbler over there.
  2. This happened way back in December after 7 months using the car and I thought it was a one off but it happened again yesterday. Basically on starting the car it goes through an auto check on bulbs etc which is normally done and dusted by the time you select gear and pull away. But on both occasions it has gone through every light then settled on saying there was a problem without actually defining the problem. The outcome is that indicators appear to blink quicker on the dashboard although outside they are on solid (not blinking). On both occasions the fix was to turn off the ignition, lock the car and wait for the dashboard display to go out before restarting the car. Any attempt to restart without allowing the dash to time out resulted in the error appearing again. Im guessing the time out of the dash coincides with the CAN system shutting down so its similar to a hard boot in a PC. Anyone got any ideas before I call the dealer (which I have no desire to do as I just dont trust them)
  3. I got no feedback from Watchdog and Skoda refused to accept that the wheels were sub standard. I'll be honest that the attitude of Skoda Customer service and the dealers will stop me buying another. Im going back to Audi later this year. The damage you have is the same as mine. Think only 2 of my wheels are actually any good .. the others are totally wrecked. I have access to 5 cars and none of the other cars have suffered from damage like this so its not just the state of the roads. Good luck but maybe you should start looking into alternative alloys. Either good ol Zeniths or another VW/Audi alloys.
  4. I will do this later tomorrow too! anyone else in same predicament??
  5. Would have preferred these to the Zeniths but too late now :( I have Audi S4 alloys on my fabia estate and not a scratch buckle or dent on them. Get what you pay for.
  6. According to Skoda UK the wheels were fitted at factory. No idea if thats true or not but I had a close look at the Team Dynamics - Monza rim and it certainly looks like the same wheel to me.
  7. Cheers for that mate. Well I contacted Skoda UK this morning and they called back this afternoon. "Take the wheels to a Skoda retailer for inspection." Not sure wether the personal phone call was because they want to portray good service or that they dont want to put anything in writing. Maybe Im just naturally suspicious! Anyway I have a Skoda "Case Number" now to track they claim with. Skoda UK also claimed on the phone that the wheels are OEM Skoda wheels .. hmmmm I think not! So I called my local skoda retailer and the Service Manager says that if the damage is caused by impact then its not a warranty or defect but an insurance claim by me. I made the point that the defect is the lightness of the alloy wheel itself and that its not fit for purpose. There are 3 other cars in the household and none of them have square wheels. So Ive to bring the wheels for inspection on Tuesday then they will take it from there. I could probably write the outcome now but I will give them the benefit of doubt and see what they say. Just as well I bought the 4 zeniths or I would be sitting with a useless car in the driveway until I either claim my insurance or Skoda step in and resolve it .. which could be never! Anyway if anyone else out there is in the same predicament .... how about we all individually contact Watchdog via the website with the details? Doesnt cost us anything and you never know .. they may eventually have to admit the wheels are defective. I reckon I will be doing this after my garage visit on Tuesday.
  8. Another wheel down for me!! thats the 2nd one to go. Big dent on the inside and only found out as the tyre started losing air. Ive just bought 4 18" zeniths from Ebay to replace them as I need the car to be reliable for the wife and I just dont trust these poor quality "limited" alloys. I am going to call Skoda tomorrow and depending on the response I will put the story on the Watchdog website. If anyone else out there is in a similar situation then I reckon we should infividually log the story on the watchdog website. Wont know until we try. Scott
  9. Cheers for the advice lads I'll go have a talk to Skidz to see what they can do as an option. At the moment Ive just plugged the iphone into the AUX socket in the armrest so the sound comes through the speakers. It works although if the volume is turned up too loud there is a little feedback noticed by the other caller. Im going into Skoda next week to complain about the crap alloys that are now peeling and the hoofing big dent in one of them and it got me thinking about waranty. Im assuming fitting the Fiscon or even the Skoda unit would invalidate the warranty unless fitted by Skoda hemselves??
  10. I have a VRS LE which has the Bolero touch screen but no MFSW. Im looking for an integrated handsfree phone kit supplied and possibly fitted too. Does anyone local (Glasgow) offer this as a service? Fiscon/Skoda Bluetooth...not really convinced which to go for but would rather it was seamless or else I would go for a Parrot or Bury but really dont want anything stuck onto the dash. Needing this done in a hurry cos the girlfirend is blagging the car for work and needs the handsfree installed. Cheers in advance. Scott
  11. I have always checked round the car if its parked (even outside the house) just in case I have a puncture or in Asda a shopping trolly is lying against the car!! Anyway .. checked the car this afternoon at the house ..and all cool .. tyres up and round as I expected. Didnt bounce it off any serious potholes on route to Asda. Came out of Asda and I did my usual check for shopping trolley and car door dents and my jaw dropped when I saw the big flat spot on the near side front. WTF!!! I dont even remember doing that so I reckon it finally weakened and caved after the other potholes that Ive been unable to avoid. Going to Skoda tomorrow to see what if anything they can do but I dont fancy shelling out 150 bangers on another poor quality rim. Very tempted to buy a seat of decent VW/SEAT alloys and stick the tyres on and put the LE ones in the shed. Gaaaaaaaaah fuming. Never had this problem with any other OEM alloys.
  12. is the ipod end of the cable not modified to allow the jack to go further into the ipod. I mean it has smaller shoulder so it doesnt stop when the plastic meets the top of the ipod?
  13. Im working in Thailand just now and the first pickup I saw that had these I actually thought they were real. It had quite large discs and was moving at the time. It wasnt until I started looking at other "modified" cars here that I realised that everyone has them fitted ... just for the look! Always heaps of accidents here and many at speed. I dont think many of them are caused by these covers coming off but mainly down to the fact that the driving standards are disgraceful. Maybe the two go together ... crap driving ... poor modifying sense= total disreguard for your own and everyone elses safety. They should be illegal and anyone caught with them on the car should have points or a ban. I dont think the MOT tester would even bother but they should IMO
  14. I didnt think you were mate but your right about the tat on Ebay and such like. There are people out there making easy money from people who are easily parted with theres and Ebay is sure fire way of punting dodgy and sometimes dangerous accessories. I must be getting old
  15. I work in Thailand at the moment and "modifications" like this are common place. Cheap faked alloys.... caliper covers ... cars lit up like xmas trees! Most people secure them with silicone. So when it falls off it jams in your sparkly fake alloy wheel and throws you into the oncoming traffic! niiiice !
