  1. have a LE vrs with the hopeless TD wheels, have manage to scuff one and wanted a quick temp repair - does anyone know what the nearest halfords touch up colour is Thanks
  2. thats good to know as i have had the same thing happening and did think its strange as its been so cold recently.
  3. I ordered the Van style ones for a Estate a few weeks ago, really easy to fit and look good too. They came really quickly - just a few days. Just need some sun now lol
  4. I havent used meadens for full service yet but a few warranty returns and they were ok. Have to admit asked them to investigate a problem with a LE wheel and never got back to me after several emails and calls, to be honest that has pretty much made me rethink using them for any other work, which is a bit of a shame. The after sales has been pretty crap all round. I used Sparshatts for my scooby and would never use them again, a real bunch of useless idiots, curbed alloys and damaged the rear bumper. Looks like i will be heading winchester way if people have had good experiences. Regards J
  5. hi did you have any luck with the customer services route, i tried today and got the round around, now trying through the dealer. I was basically told the best way is to try getting the money out of the local council :( You can me to list
  6. i tow a caterham on a BJT and its really nice, pulls away nicely and braking is fine. I usually get 48mpg and found fully loaded up spare set of tyres, tent and spares/tools with caterham on the tralier i was still getting 38mpg mix of motorway and country roads
  7. i was going to put a bit of sticky foam where it rests against the pillar should deaden the thud. I had a golf hire car and noticed the seatbelts in that have a tab sown on the belt which stops it happening basically hangs over the buckle and stops it hitting the pillar
  8. i have noticed a small ding in one of mine causing a bulge in the tyre only done 5k miles in the car and always been very careful. has any one got a pic of a estate octavia with the rs4 type wheel on it as thinking of swapping
  9. I bought one 6 months ago from Meadens in Sway and have been very pleased. Mine is the TDI estate though. I know meadens had about 6 at the time. Funny i went from Impreza WRX wagon to the Skoda and havent regretted it, although it doesnt have the driving ability of the scooby its better built, more comfortable and affordable to run in the current climate. The Impreza was a stunning car to drive though
  10. I have bought from Meadens and used them for few bits (service department) they have been very good, in fact very different from Sparshatts where i got my Scooby and had all the service work done, in fact sparshatts are pretty badly thought of in scooby circles.
  11. i have just had mine replaced under warrantee, as it was very erratic in operation would work fine then just stop altogether. Was told the motor was failing so they replaced it.
  12. http://www.vehicle-wiring-products.eu/VWP-onlinestore/switches/12vacc.php i think you can get it from halfords etc too, just i was getting some other bits at the same time so added one to my order Jas
  13. i have just bought a 12v socket to mount in the top cubby, for the sat nav. how easy is it to take out the top cubby box and is it possible to run the cables from there to the fuse box you shown above, as that looks like a neat way to get a live connection thanks jas
  14. I changed mine over yesterday and found you had to pull on the aerial whilst unscrewing as it just seemed to turn and not release otherwise. I have noticed the new stuby one was much longer exposed thread so cut of about 3mm of thread it seems to work fine. Also the new one has solid thread, but the one i removed OEM had a hollow end with small prong, just wondering why as the base does seemed to ve any thing else. Also the new stuby one doesnt closed down as flush as the oem aerial, although it now looks much much better. Jas
  15. Hi I have looked at the different options available for the octavia and come across this unit Zenec ZE-NC2010, it seems to fit almost all other VAG cars but the Zenec skoda offerings are all mono display unlike this one. Just wondering if anyone has fitted one - I have the 2009 Limited edition VRS, and was hoping it might be a straight drop in and connect - also does it combine with the maxidot display etc. Any assistance much appreciated Jas
  16. Driving into work today once car heated up noise came back, in slow traffic was much worse, I reckon its to do with the rear drivers brake system as it speeds up as car speeds up and gets louder as you slow down. Dosent seem to stopped when braking. Have booked it into the dealer to have a look on weds, hopefully nothing to serious. Braking power still seems ok and no warning lights, so maybe just something in the caliper/disc - i wouldnt have expected a disc to warped over 3000 miles though. Jason
  17. I had a similar experience today, thought it sounded like metal on metal but more of a whistling type of noise came and went. I thought it might have been stone in brake setup as it had that type of screechy noise. I had a good look round and couldnt find anything. Will see if it happens tomorrow on the wa to work, but interested to see if you get anywhere with this. Mines a 2.o CR TDI with just under 3k on the clock Jason
  18. Hi Just got back from taking the dog out and there is a really strange noise coming from the rear of the car. it seems to be a bit intermitant, bit difficult to describe as it started as a low whistling noise went to almost a screeching (as if brake had stne in it) then on turning left went back to whistling noise. I checked all the doors and windows are secure, it was almost bording on whining, noise and seems to come and go. I have checked under the car and can see nothing wrong. One thing i was wondering could it be the fuel pump, is this in the tank at the rear of the car ? by the way its a limited ed 2009 vrs estate cr tdi. Just wondering if anyone had seen similar issues, just before i try and get the local dealer to check it out. Thanks Jason
  19. couldn't see how to change via the maxidot and also found the second click option when messing about with the maxidot earlier seems strange they code the two fobs that came with the car differently thanks for the help guys at least I know how to get round it now thanks jas
  20. hi have just used my spare remote control fob and for some reason it only unlocks the drivers door the main key fob unlocks them all, is there some sort of coding or reset I need to complete thanks Jas
  21. Hi have VRS LE Estate and bought the front and rear mudflaps for it. I remember seeing a post on here for fitting instructions and someone even posted pictures for the alterations you needed to make. I cant find the post now, even though a few searches have been done, anyone able to point me to the right location Thanks Jas
  22. I have had a witter fixed on my Limited edition, cost fitted including single electrics was £240, used the same company my local dealer would have used. This didnt include the skoda electrics pack, but was including a relay kit to protect the canbus system. The detachable version was £370Jas
  23. Hi I have Bolero headunit in the Octavia and have seen a few people mention you can get a graphic display for reversing sensors. I havent got any reversing sensors fitted at the moment as have the last of the pre face lift LE models. I was just wondering what hardware was required and if it was just plug or play or whether i need the head unit coding completed. Thanks Jas
  24. anyone had any dealings with multims on ebay, they seem to have a few on sale at the moment
  25. I think the last limited ed was the run out of pre face lifted models, with the 170cr engine, in diesel format. I have just had a towbar fitted and cost 250 incl single electrics, number plate and bumper protector. It wasnt the cheapest one around but they seemed to know what they were doing, and this was the firm my local Skoda dealer call in to fit most of thiers. Beware some fitters seem to think its ok to splice straight into the electrics with no relay protection etc.
