  1. VW got caught. But most other brands emit far higher nox in real life driving. Hybrid battery production causes far more damage to the environment than any other car type. At the end of the day, if you drive you will cause pollution . When the press get bored of VW bashing I'm sure they will move into another marque.
  2. Now has got to be the moment to buy an EA189 engine car.. Great cars. Confusion & panic stirred up by the press. I'm sure the opposition don't just emit Chanel or Rose Water. Dealers will give top discount until the headless chickens get bored & move onto the next scandal 'Cars only get quoted MPG when driven by 7st driver wearing slippers shocker' If there is a car tax penalty you can guarantee that VW group will more than make up for any owners losses. EG if my RFL multiples 10X (still less than wife's SAAB petrol!) they are bound to compensate for this & future expense. Happy days I bet VW engineers are all over the oppositions software at the moment trying to figure out how they bend the rules F1 style!
  3. That's interesting. My ex Skoda UK car's plate started with a K. The video camera I found I the underseat storage 6 months after purchase contained some interesting footage ! I destroyed it so no worries ...
  4. I tried one of those... If you want to go this route, I'd recommend you buy via Amazon. So if (when) it doesnt work you can easily return it for a refund!
  5. Does it really need changing @ 4 years, of is it just the dealer drumming up some business? Isn't it 7 years in Europe & we're seen as a soft touch? Mine is 6 years old/60K miles , maybe I should get it done soon!!
  6. Yawn!! 58000 miles now. 1 DIY oil change & pollen filter in the last year. That's it. Still playing 'cambelt roulette' though, will follow the European model & get it done @ 7 years. Blinking good car. Still on the original brakes, maybe I don't drive it as I should Every year I think I should change. But what for? I couldn't justify spending 15K + mine for a new one.. Edit - I did get the aircon recharged @£40, as it was a bit 'tired' icey cold now....
  7. Service plans are free again (with 0% PCP)
  8. The only way to be sure it is right for you is to take a proper test drive. To be honest there are far nicer places to be than a city car on the motorway! Bearable, but a bigger car is likely to be more quiet/comfortable & even my Octavia Vrs diesel will be as economical.
  9. Im glad I held off now - The 0% interest + free servicing has returned for the SE model at least! Despite what local dealers told me...
  10. Most independent compilations or real world MPG, over a large sample, is more like 30 MPG. I wouldn't want anyone to buy a petrol Vrs based upon 45-50 mpg!!!
  11. Just had my 'tired' aircon done at Kwikfit for under £50. As good as new now. It had lost around 30% of its original refrigerant (5 years old) When it does smell I turn the heater on full blast for 10 mins (without me in the car!) That kills the smell & bacteria I guess...
  12. Thanks for the tip, I'll give a call!
