  1. The part number should be printed on the pipe itself.
  2. Think your only option is to cut it off and then weld a nut back in somehow when you re-install.
  3. I've been onto Skoda about this before. The MK1 Octavia vRS does not need XL rated tyres. They should come from the factory with 89V non-XL tyres which are what the car was type approved for. Fitting 93, or even XL rated tyres will have no safety issues, other then increased road noise and potentially more unsprung mass.
  4. What Mankee said. Torque reads absolute pressure, which takes into account atmospheric pressure so will always appear 10-15 PSI above the boost value, depending on weather and altitude.
  5. I just watched mine sit there and get rained and snowed on while I walked to work :-( The old girl doesn't get out much anymore, used to do 60 miles a day but she's semi retired now.
  6. I can't believe this recall is still going after all this time! And they will replace anything other than revision R or D if I remember correctly.
  7. Just after a bit of inspiration really... Got a decent bonus at work and have decided to fix the wheels which have been in a bad state for the last 2 years (They had a 40mph argument with a kerb with the missus driving...) Can people with yellow vRSs put some pics up of their cars so I can pick a wheel colour? They're currently anthracite but I'm thinking of going for a matt black instead. Cheers :-)
  8. Mine was about to pass with flying colours too until the front spring snapped when they lowered it down off the lift :-( For future reference to people, genuine vRS springs are nearly £100 each from TPS in Leeds.
  9. Have you tried bypassing the N75, rather than just unplugging it?
  10. I work at Maplin too, and that one isn't really ideal as it isn't waterproof. The original one has a rubber seal around the switch plunger. To be fair it will probably last quite a while anyway :-)
  11. Was gonna say in the 4 years of owning mine, I've only ever seen the fans go into high speed mode once, and that was on a baking hot day towing a caravan up a long hill. Normally the low speed fans are enough.
  12. Mines is on the original too - It's a 52 plate and was only used for short trips before I got hold of it :-) All i can think of, especially with the 1.8T engine is that the exhaust gases are hotter than usual which clears any moisture out. Got a spare stock one ready to go on if it ever does break, which seems unlikely...
  13. Hi Guys, Just done an oil change on the old girl, but with me doing high mileage now, I've decided to put her back onto variable Longlife servicing again, so I can leave it a bit longer between changes. I've done a bit of research about it, and found an interesting PDF that explains how the variable part works. It seems to be quite a clever system. SSP_224.pdf
  14. Some different ones: *09 *** Black Vauxhall Zafira Elegance DTI 16V *10 *** Yellow Skoda Octavia RS (Mine) *11 *** Blue Jaguar S-Type V6 Auto *** *KV None *** *KW Mine *** *KX None Going on the original reg (Makes more sense): DU** **W Silver Skoda Fabia Silverline DU** **V Yellow Skoda Octavia RS (Mine) DU** **X Silver Skoda Fabia Comfort SDI
  15. Thanks guys. Looks to be worth around what I thought. It has a couple of mods, namely an Whiteline ARB and Compbrake DV. I was thinking of taking them off and selling them separately, but I doubt it will be worth the hassle of taking them off for what I'll get for them. Breaking it isn't really an option, it may get a better return in the end, but is gonna take a long time, and I think it's too nice a car, would be a shame to 'waste' it, especially when there's so many rough abused ones out there. I'll get a couple of pics up and sort a freedom membership.
  16. Hi Guys, Much as I hate it, I think I might have to look at selling my vRS and going for something more economical. Just got a new job with a long commute, and I'm getting fed up of putting petrol in it. :-( It's a MK1 vRS hatch in yellow (The best colour) on an 02 plate with 72k on the clock. Has full service history etc. The interior is practially mint, and the exterior is pretty good for the age. Any ideas what it might be worth? I'm considering selling it privately, but would need it to go pretty quickly as funds are tight as usual. I've had some stupid offers in part exchange, one garage even offered me £900, the cheeky b*stards!!
  17. Balls!!! Oh well, the paint job worked then lol
  18. http://dornob.com/art-of-invisibility-clever-camouflage-car-paint-job/#axzz2fqemyCwm It's certainly different! p.s. I now know it's not an Octavia :-(
  19. I used the fabia vrs ones on the back of mine. They are still voided, so not to harsh, but they're stiffer than the standard ones.
  20. They may have reset it on fixed servicing. Variable can cover anything up to 30k on TDIs
  21. I haven't changed mine, but a lot of people have and apparently non genuine oil can make the box notchy. The proper stuff is cheap anyway so you might as well get that and be done with it.
  22. For fuel trims, it's Group 032, MAF airflow reading are group 002. I presume it's an AGU engine as it has the old style ignition coils?
  23. I work in retail too and agree with Zoidberg. Far too many people say "No I'm just looking pal" when I say hello. Really winds me up that they're not even listening to me, and think I'm trying to sell something.
