  1. Thanks for the vote of confidence! It's been 6 months now so I certainly hope that's the end of it!
  2. I've got a 57 petrol VRS and I had this problem after filling up with fuel. I read the codes using the Shark STS unit and it turns out I didn't have the petrol cap sealed properly. I tightened the cap, reset the codes, and haven't had a problem since.
  3. Had Conti SC3 on the front since December and still got 5mm left. Best tyres i've used so far.
  4. Went a few years back for a daytrip. Have to say it was rather dissapointing. The displays were poor and the aircraft on static display weren't open to view. The only aircraft you could board was the A380 after it finished it's display. Needless to say, a queue of about 10,000 congregated at the steps. I didn't stay too long after that.
  5. He's a good player but unfortunately for him, he has arguably three of the all-time greats in front of him. I think I would have more support for Murray if he didn't make everything look like so much effort. Good luck to him though, it's about time someone else won a major.
  6. These look great. Put me down for the £19 kit please. (Octavia II non facelift) Ta
  7. I went for a pair of Continental Sport Contact 3's at the front. Only a Stage 1 map for me but so far very happy with the tyres. I've never tried Kumho's but i'd rate the Conti's above the Michlin Pilot Sports I had previously.
  8. Is there any offical notice with the details of this recall? Just rang my local dealers and they haven't heard anything from Skoda.

  10. You hear the rattle inside the car but to me it doesn't sound too healthy from the outside either. It sounds a bit limp to be honest. It appears whenever the revs are at idle so either stationary regardless of clutch position or when the clutch is engaged whilst moving. It's obviously a lot clearer whilst the car is stationary. I've had a quick look under the bonnet and nothing obvious appears to be loose. I'm taking it too the dealers this afternoon so hopefully they might be able to spot the problem. I'll keep you posted. Ta
  11. I wasn't sure about the correct idle settings so thanks for the clarification. I'm aware of the gearstick shakes and I sometimes get it when changing up to second when the engines cold. I've never had it in idle though. This however seems to be a completly new drone that appears when the engine is idling at about 750rpm. The rattle fades if I move the throttle slightly to bring the revs to 900rpm? It also appears when driving if I hold the clutch down. Thanks
  12. Just to elaborate further on the matter. When turning the engine on it idles at 1200rpm without any issues. If left for about 5 minutes the engine will lose power and the idle will drop to 750rpm and the rattle starts. I think this issue is with the loss of idle power rather than the rattle itself. Has anybody else had a similar issue?
  13. My 57 plate VRS TFSi has suddenly developed an annoying rattle at about 1300rpm that dissapears when touching the throttle slightly. It's got 25k on the clock and it's recently had a standard service. I can't pinpoint the exact location of the rattle but it sounds loudest around the pedal area. Has anybody else experienced a clear rattle at idle or have any suggestions what the cause might be? I will either be taking it back to the dealers or the garage that carried out the service depending on the probable cause. Thanks in advance for any help.
  14. I had a look at his ebay shop and he's got a Skoda unit available but the price seems a bit high at the moment. But then again sometimes it's best to pay more money if the sellers comes recommended. I noticed the VW unts and having recently sold a Golf I actually prefer the blue lighting, but i want a Skoda unit to keep it original and so it matches the dash.
  15. Cheers Mercurio, I'll keep an eye out for units from 'naviandbmwparts'.
  16. I could do both but it would be at a stretch. I think i'd rather get one up and running first. Whilst on the subject of the Columbus units, can these be purchased and installed directly from the Skoda dealer network without being fleeced for the costs? I haven't purchased much from ebay before so i'm a bit hesitant to send £500 to a geezer in Lithuania. Are there any reliable sellers that can be recommended? Thanks again.
  17. Hi, I've recentlly purchased a 2007 Octavia VRS and my first point of interest is to upgrade the interior electronics by retrofitting both a Maxidot display and a RNS510 Sat Nav unit. From browsing through numerous posts on the subject, I'm looking at purchasing the Maxidot from Skodateile.cz for about £240 and the RNS510 (Refurb/Stolen??) off Ebay for about £500-£550. Firstly, I would like to know if this is a reasonable price to expect to pay and secondly, in what order should I purchase/install the goods? Should I wait until I have both items before installation or can the Maxidot/RNS510 be installed first with the other item being installed at a later date? Any help on this would be gratefully appreciated. Ta
