  1. Ken: Interesting to hear your views on the Karoq. Suppose we all need to move on sometime.... Graham: Great to hear from you again. My Vitara is another diesel with 55mpg fuel consumption and has been fine on the odd occasion I have towed with it. However, my next 4X4 will probably be a self-charging hybrid.
  2. Sold my Yeti in July 2018 after over 80,000 safe miles and lots of happy memories. Bought a 3 year old Suzuki Vitara Allgrip and although it does not feel as well built as the Yeti, it has lots of modern gizmos and has been faultless so far. And much better value than the VAG alternatives imho. However, I still miss my Yeti Tdi 4 x 4 and think Skoda made a mistake switching to SUVs that look like all the rest!
  3. How times have changed since 2009! Just sold my original Yeti after over 80,000 safe miles and lots of happy memories. Have bought a Suzuki Vitara Allgrip. it does not feel as well built but has lots of modern gizmos and is much better value than the VAG alternatives imho. So long, and thanks for all the fish!

  5. For what it's worth, we had a lot of snow in this part of Scotland during the first two winters after I got my Yeti. I found that my Yeti handled the snowy/icy roads effortlessly even with the original Dunlops, particularly with the off-road button pressed. I think the treads often filled with snow. I subsequently got Nokian eNTYRES but never got the chance to try them on snow but found them a bit skittish in the wet. That's why I changed to Michelin Cross Cimates which I have found great on dry, wet, warm and cool road conditions. Never had a chance to try them on serious snow yet which is surprising since many parts of the UK appear to have lots of snow atm, or are just about to get some! Anyway, they are not great on soft fields although I admit that my technique might have been suspect. However, I did get unstuck a couple of times earlier in the same field but when I came back after dark, I managed to blunder into a particulary soft bit and got stuck! Thanks for all the discussion and suggestions.
  6. Ventured into a soft field in my Yeti for the first time since I fitted Michelin Cross Climates and soon got stuck. All four wheels dug in a couple of inches and began to spin in mud despite off road button. Had to get pulled out by a tractor. Not sure if the Haldex is playing up (the oil is due a change) or I need different tyres. Any suggestions?
  7. I had a very similar experience with mine after 4 years/40,000 miles. My friendly independent thought it was caused by oil starvation. It's been fine since though and otherwise virtually faultless. However, I must admit I will seriously consider getting a petrol model when I finally replace it over the next couple of years...
  8. Thanks for the feedback so far. It seems to me that getting the work done will stop further reminders and might help when I finally come to sell my (now) 7 year old Yeti. However, obviously I do not want reduced performance or MPG. So, is their any actual evidence that these are adversely affected by the software modification?
  9. Got the same letter today. Anyone like to outline evidence of why one should not get this (free) work done?
  10. The driver's side doors of my 2009 Yeti are no longer being locked by the central locking. I can lock the driver's door with the key but the rear door remains open even with the child lock on. Aside from activating the emergency lock on the rear door, any suggestions?
  11. Wow Wakev. Almost on your 4th Yeti! I am still on my original from 2009.
  12. Run four Michelin Cross Climates on my 2009 Yeti for a month now (215/60R16 99V). Conditions have been wet and recently very wet and cool since. Apart from being a bit quieter than my previous Nokian eNtyres, handling definitely seems much more secure.
  13. Got four Michelin Cross Climates fitted to my 2009 Yeti yesterday (215/60R16 99V). Cost £427.60 fitted via CarTyres.com Too early to comment on handling but seem a bit quieter than my eNtyres.
  14. Still here and thinking of replacing my Nokian eNtyres 215/60 R16 99Vs with Michelin CCs or Goodyear Vector 4 Seasons Gen 2 (if I can find them locally). Not much snow here since 2010 so wet and dry performance probably more important. Any comments?
