  1. Congrats on the new motor Graham you do realise that being white you will have to clean it at least twice a week and no off roading. Seriously let us know what you think of it when it has a few miles on the clock.
  2. Anyone had any dealings with the BT mobile sim only deals ? The prices don't seem bad but can' find out about reception in our area, other than their own checker which if its similar to other suppliers can' be relied on.
  3. Years ago ran into a herd of cows at Rangeworthy on a steam loco (western hall ) ,killed four but able to carry on after loco inspection dropped down through Manngotsfield and onto Temple Meads which had platforms crowded and we still had signs of blood and gore on front bufferbeam . Some of the flesh and skin was also underneath the boiler and I can tell you it did not smell like steak cooking.
  4. Try Milton the stuff they use for sterilising baby bottles ,obviously dilute first. A friend left a fresh meat joint under my passengers seat forgot it and it leaked over the carpets ,4 hot summer days later the smell surfaced and it was pretty bad but Milton killed it stone dead. A local car dealer who I asked in desperation put me onto it, he said it removed pet smells / kids sickness and mostly everything you get in the car trade.
  5. She must be a wonderful lady, not only cooks that but most probably has to put up with the after affects later.
  6. Auto Glass did my previous 2013 model at home ,took 3 days to book when the guy came he had just started and we had one heck of a thunderstorm which lasted a couple of hours. Because of the lightening he was unable to errect the pull out metal cover on his van ,poor bloke got absolutely soaked ,felt so sorry for him I gave him dry T- shirt. Despite this he did a cracking job and I was well pleased.
  7. I was with NFU as I was attracted by their new car replacement for write offs which are up to 2 years old, this saved me getting GAP insurance but as the car is now 19 months old hardly worth the extra price over other companys. But as you say they do have a good reputation and it was convenient as they had a local office . I'm happy with the £130 saving I made with Ageas and reasonably confident their policy will be adequate should the need arise.
  8. That seems quite good, shows how different areas vary LV quoted me £270 and it seems our situations are very similar.
  9. Mine is due March, I've been with NFU for the last 2 years but they want £365 so considering switching to Ageas at £230. I used to be with Ageas a few years ago when I had a prang, I found them very easy to deal with and everything was handled very well and swiftly. Don't think £230 is too bad considering its a 170 with two named drivers and a policy with all the bells and whistles.
  10. There were none fitted to ours, so I got the garage to fit as part of the deal. I've found they are not all that effective though. Some time ago a member did fit slightly larger flaps, there is a guide somewhere in the archives which he wrote, but this could have been for the old Google eyed Classic model.
  11. We paid £2,300 for a 3 seater settee after 9 months it had sagged badly and the leather had become discoloured. DFS replaced several panels and reupholstered it. 4 months later same problems this time we refused a repair and stated we wanted a replacement, which eventually we got. 6 months down the line we have just had the replacement reupholstered due to sagging. The guy who did the last repair said he had so many calls to expensive purchases it was unbelieveable and the cheaper options seem to wear so much better. To prove this my son paid £400 for a 3 seater settee 4 years ago, his two children have done their worst to destroy it (normal kids things ) and it has withstood everything thrown at it and is still firm and smart looking. Its cetainly the cheaper option for us from now on.
  12. Try a reset, switch ignition to the on position (do not start the engine) hold the the window switches up for ten seconds ,release them ,turn ignition off then turn back on and hopefully fully reset and cured.
  13. Around 250 ml round trip from Forest of Dean to Crouch End (London) on Xmas day A40 -M40 - North circl not a sign of a police car ,plenty of ambulances with blues on though. Realize there have been police cuts but surely a larger presence would be more of a deterrent. The local drink drivers in the Forest of Dean have very little chance of being caught as the few police on duty are asked to cover a huge area, yet I believe Mr Cameron tried to put pressure on his local Cotswold council for his nearest police station to remain open and not be included in the cuts.
  14. Steam locos quite often had problems but in most cases (obviously not all ) could limp on to the nearest loop under there own power, with a Diesel failure in most cases it was wait for a relief engine. The early Hydraulics were really unreliable and it was quite a common occurrence for a nice new shiny Western or Hymek to be rescued by a filthy steam loco. Have a look on u tube at the Jubilee 45690 having a run at the Lickey with no banker ,admittedly the driver must have been showing off a bit but one hell of a sound.
  15. When I was a fireman at Gloucester she came down on a rail tour must have been around 1965 or 1966 ,if my signing on time had been 10 mins earlier I would have dropped for the job as it was a mate Pete Smith claimed it. I did have the pleasure of firing Evening Star and Clun Castle several times ,also several other now preserved locos. These preservation societies do a wonderful job and thanks to them keep my memories alive and also give my grandkids chance to see where Grampy used to work.
  16. They did offer the extra warranty for £13 which I did not entertain as the printer (Canon pixma mx475) was only £45 and I did not consider this a good investment. The wife has just has just dug out the reciept for the old defective Canon pixma MP 600 and it was actually 10 years old cost £120 and did not have as many functions as our new Canon at 1/3 of the price. Just shows how things have progressed, if this lasts half as long I shall be well pleased. All I've got to do now is flog off the new original cartridges we always kept in reserve for the old model.
  17. Nipped into Argos and picked up late this morning, all up and running ok no problems as yet. Print quality seems ok as do photos. Our old Canon had individual cartridges and we found quality suffered if we used non original ones, but as you say there is a big difference in price. Its quite a novelty being able to sit in the armchair with the laptop and have the printing done some distance away. ( Our now defunct Canon was that old it worked on gas ) Thanks for your replies I'll keep my eye on the Black cartridge problem.
  18. Well our 12 year old Canon printer has just given up ,we have been well pleased with it so thinking about replacing it with another Canon the Pixma MX475 which seems cheap and cheerful and the speck seems reasonable for the price. It will be home use only, photos mainly few spread sheets nothing heavy. Anyone got one or had any issues with this model or any other strong recommandations ? Thanks in advance
  19. For gods sake don't post it in Yeti section most of us are of a certain age and it will probably cause palpitations ,heart attacks and goodness knows what else.
  20. Allthough not right on your doorstep "Fix" at Hereford are excellent they used to be "Cavanagh's" they obviously provide courtesy car or pick up and drop off if needed. I've used them several times over the years and been well impressed ,they are also Skoda approved if that is any reccomendation. Don't have any info on Apollo but will PM you about Blade.
  21. I doubt if two ladies can remember "off note" and I don't believe his postings are now accessible . I personally found his postings that stupid they became almost amusing. . In my opinion two ladies is asking the sort of questions a typical female (my wife ) would ask and good luck to her, keep them coming they brighten a dull day. Hope I have not offended to many technical minded female members of which I believe we have quite a few.
  22. Hi Graham This topic has been kicked about quite a bit in the past, as JCP mentions the plumber's guide does indicate that 205/55/16 are the correct ones. I contacted SUK to confirm before fitting them on my 16 winter steels.(this was when I had the 1.2 Yeti)
  23. Why not pop into the Skoda dealer at swindon, should only take a few seconds to reset hopefully.
  24. Hi John Have a look in the Dealer reviews about my experience with them, I suppose things could have changed in 6 months but I was not at all impressed by their attitude. Their prices seem very reasonable but I should make absolutely sure they have the car in stock and available before travelling any distance and don't expect top PX allowance if you are trading in. The only thing I would say is their coffee is quite good.
  25. On my 4th also 2 x 1.2s then a 140 and the present 170 , have been well pleased with all of them, no problems other than a loose roll bar on the 1st 1.2 which was quickly rectified . 1 cracked windscreen and 2 unrepairable tyres in 5 ish years The 1st was in "Steel Grey" then "Cappuccino" followed by "Petrol Blue" and the present " Muscovado" . The 4 x 4 obviously give me reassurance when venturing down the muddy tracks on my way to fishing venues and also a bit more poke when overtaking. The MPG on all the engines has been reasonable , but I will be interested to see what sort of returns owners of the new 150 4 x 4 petrol get when their cars have a few miles on them. Enjoy your 4th wakev
