  1. Tried to get a sofa in mine, was too high , so that got tied to the roof bars instead. The looks as I drove over the erskine bridge were priceless I've had a hotpoint fridge freezer in her too, not sure on the size of that though. It's definately one thing I love about the car, will be sad to loose her next year. But i'm going for a van instead, couldn't possibly have less boot space than I do now lol
  2. I did check that behind the door pillar and where it runs through the gaiter between the hinges and the wiring is sound. When we got the card of it would appear by using the age old technical method of "wiggling it" ;-) that there is something of a dodgy connection at the lock mechanism.
  3. Thanks for that guys. Got the door card off this morning after trying the "hit it" option. Wasn't the lock, it's a faulty / dodgy wiring connection between the loom and the lock mechanism. Back working again now, but I have a feeling the way people seem to slam the doors on my motor probably doesn't help! had her for 5 years and always shout at people not to slam but they do, especially the kids. Will see how long it lasts, need it to last 3 mth as I'm planning on retiring her soon
  4. Hi, After some advice and pointers. Went out to the motor this morning and my rear passenger door won't unlock with the fob. The rest of the car is fine. Tried opening it from the inside handle but still no go, so it's definitely jammed shut somehow. Firstly, any one any ideas what it might be?? and secondly, any ideas how I can get it open to check these things!!! To add more info, it's a 52 plate elegance. If I pull the handle from the inside the lock button raises but the door doesn't open / unlock Cheers
  5. Gotta agree with the consensus, had the same problem with mine a couple of years back and it was the scuttle drains, take the scuttle panel off and make sure it's all totally clear. I found I stopped getting wet feet after I did this ;-)
  6. I've searched the forums but maybe not with the right tag words, I have a '52 plate octy and I have bought and aftermarket HU due to a) my disc changer was fecked from a leak in the roof that we finally found , I want to run my tunes off my phone thru it. I'm assuming I've gonna need a fasica round the edge of the new HU and googling appears to bring up fascia's that also include the cubbly hole under the HU. Question being, will I need to replace all of this or can I just get a surround for the new HU, and also, who has any recommendations as to where to get this from? Also, while I'm wittering on, I mind a couple of years back someone replacing the cubbly hole with a drinks holder, any chance anyones got the link for this, Hubby is fed up holding his coffee in his lap when we are long journeys lol Thanks Shel
  7. Some of you might have seen my earlier post about rewinding the pistons on the rear brakes. Just a tip, don't bother buying the Laser rewinding tool! The one is spent £32 on is going back. The difference in the threads meant it didn't work. An emergency trip to a mechanic mate to borrow a snap on tool and half hour later job done.
  8. hand brake is off, bleed valves open, turning it right and got a pressure plate ................
  9. Hi after some help here please, trying to change my rear discs and pads and even with a rewind tool the pistons wont rewind! I'm on my mobile broadband in the garage at the mo, any advice? Thanks

  11. so what would your opinion be on the guide pins then?
  12. Was fine when I replaced the front pads and discs. Just used a G clamp to wind it back in
  13. I'm about to change the rear brake's on the octy, have been told that I should replace the caliper guide pins when I do it. Would you? I didn't need to on the front, just cleaned and threadlocked em. After some opinions. Ta
  14. Been out to service the beast today and i've decided that the pollen filter needs changing. But can someone please tell me how the hell to get the trim off! the Haynes manual says to remove the LHS wiper which is a battle in itself but I can't work out how to remove the actual plastic trim. Its like its bolted or glued in. Advice appreciated !! Ta Michelle
