  1. Many thanks everyone. Looks like something is not quite right as I suspected.
  2. I've just had my gearstick replaced following a fault with the park release lock, £400 for the parts alone but luckily under warranty! However, the illuminated indicator for neutral on the new unit (ie the N of the PRNDS) goes out when in neutral and only switches on when coming out of neutral? When coming out of neutral the N light often flickers slightly before coming on. Please could someone comfirm the operation of their DSG unit is similar, I don't recall this behaviour before it was replaced. I've had the car for two years and the previous car was DSG but i dont remember seeing this before. In case it makes a difference it's the 7 speed 1.4TSI engine. Thanks
  3. Yes, that's what the manual says but it does not work, which why I contacted Skoda UK. They told me the software was now available and they could be sctivated by a dealer, I'm really interested in people who have done this on an early 2011 car. Once activated I understand you can turn them on or off as you want with the indicator stalk. Personally I think the DRL's are a good idea and as they are fitted it's frustrating that I can't use them. Not too keen on Vag-Com solutions in case it goes wrong!
  4. Skoda UK told me the software was now available to activate the DLR's in the foglights and the master technician at my local dealer may be able to activate. Dealer had my octavia for an hour but couldn't activate the DLR's, they claimed the wiring was missing but I find that unlikely given the bulbs are there and the manual talks about how you turn them on and off? Standard elegance spec, 2011 car without maxidot. What now?
  5. Started to get the same problem here on co drivers door, it does appear to stop when I press the silver inside strip and very dependent on road surface rather than speed it seems. Any more solutions other than the external trim coming away?
  6. My 1.4 DSG has done less than 2,000 miles to date and averaged 35-40 mpg measured brim to brim. Maxidot will read 30mpg on a short round town trip (three miles in traffic) and 48mpg on a longer run. Its actually very close to what I was getting in my previous car a 1.9TDI DSG, but the TSI a whole lot better to drive faster/quieter/less tax. Actually I was really dissapointed with the 1.9 TDI very noisy inside and sudden surges of power, I managed to get 50mpg on long runs a few times but had to drive at 50-60mph not motorway speeds. Maxidot often records 40 mpg on shorter runs if there is no stop start in traffic and reflects brim to brim calculations fairly closely. My only 'issue' is a faint metallic/mechanical tinkling when I am moving off, the old car may have done this but the engine was so noisy I wouldn't have noticed it! I would be interested if you have noticed the same? Overall I think the 1.4 TSI is brilliant.
  7. My new 1.4 TSI also makes this metalic clunk when moving from stationary, my car has DSG and makes the noise when releasing the brakes and the car starts to move. Have you found a fix yet?
  8. Has anyone recently taken delivery of an elegance model which had the DRL in the foglight already activated without having to request it? Is it true the law required all new cars to have DRL's from the 7th Feb 2011?. SUK told me there would be a software update available from dealers once it became law and (a dealer) could then activate them (I took delivery of my car just before the 7th Feb and they aren't activated)but my dealer said 'only the VRS has DRL's' (even thu you can see the DRL bulbs in the fog light housing on my car)so asking if they could activate the DRLs on delivery fell on deaf ears! Anyone had any experience with dealers on this in the last week or so?
  9. Interesting, thanks all. I'm surprised the average MPG for the 1.4DSG is as low as people are reporting. Any comments on how the car drives with the 7 speed DSG compared to the diesels?
  10. I am considering changing my 1.9TDI DSG for the 1.4TSI DSG as we do less than 12k miles a year and I find the TDI a bit noisy and unrefined but at the time I didn't have a choice of a petrol DSG car. My current car is giving 45mpg calculated brim to brim, I am looking for feedback on the economy and drive of the 1.4 DSG from owners of this car. Thanks
  11. Interested to hear what MPG are you getting on this? Thanks
