  1. Mileage is 68000. Noticed the "select forward gears first" on the forums so now always use this, it is 3rd and 5th that seem to work best.
  2. Son just purchased Fabia Mk1 1.4 (8V) petrol to learn to drive. Car was serviced by local dealer, but car has been standing for about 3 months. Starts fine, but seems to lack acceleration. When pulling away seems to misfire / stutter. Misfire also happening at tickover, but random not consistant, (wish it was). Seems to drink fuel at an alarming rate! Can any body offer any help?
  3. Son just purchased Fabia Mk1 1.4 (8V) petrol to learn to drive. Forward gears work fine, but when you stop have great difficulty selecting reverse. Car been standing at dealers for about 3 months. Can take up to 10 attempts to engage, putting the car into 3rd or 5th seems to help, but still have to "slam" it to engage reverse. Spoke to main dealers they say no regular fault on this model, but bring it along and we we investigate (for a kings ransom). Looked on forum, some talk of "the dogbone" needs changing. Is this a gearbox mounting or the selector for the gearbox? Can any body offer any help?
  4. Just bought a 2001 fabia comfort hatchback. Cleaned it over the weekend, then the central locking locking worked randomly. Then tried to unlock the car by key, the front electric windows partly opened. Then they would not close fully, went up about 2 inches kept stopping. Then the remote stopped total. Kept getting rapid clicking from behind dash. Then the car would not start. Tried to re-synchronise the remote, it would not re-syncronise. !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Assumed immobiliser had cut in as could not start car. Then tested the car battery! Read 8.5 volts (not 12 volts). Jumped off another battery, took car for drive battery now reads 13.5 volts, everything working fine. Do not know if it will fix but worth checking the car battery is at full voltage. It might be losing its charge. Appears if voltage drops below a certain level, random things happen. You mention it righted itself 2 miles down the road, the alternator by then would of put more power back into the battery.
