  1. Just bought a 2010 Superb S 1.9 tdi and find the dipped headlight performance not very good. Is this to be expected ? Anyone suggest a bulb upgrade to brighten the road please. my previous superb had Xenon headlights which were brilliant. I'm not expecting xenon brightness but hope to see an improvement.
  2. Hope its ok to post this here. Can anyone recommend good fitting leather look seat covers for the Skoda Superb. I see quite a few listed on eBay but would prefer a satisfied customer to suggest a brand and where to get them. . My existing half leather drivers seat is thew worst for wear.
  3. My 2005 1.9TDI Superb with auto transmission decided not to come out of Park position earlier this afternoon. I was facing uphill so felt there was load on the gearbox and gave it a good tug to release it. Now it drives fine but when I park I can't select P . Move the lever forward and it comes to a hard stop before locating "P". Then of course the ignition key can't be removed until P is selected. Any helpful advice much appreciated. Pressing the brake pedal is operating what sounds like a solenoid as usual and the light alongside P lights and goes out as normal.
  4. Thanks for that Lofty. Can such a mapping job be done easily. What's involved ?
  5. I have the error code advising insufficient flow through EGR vale. I removed and cleaned the whole assembly and found the top diaphragm was leaking when trying to suck and lift the needle valve. If the damaged diaphragm is causing the MIL to light up is there a cure by blocking the vacuum pipe as I see there is an Allard component to replace the original valve with a straight through pipe . There is no power loss. Just the light coming on after around 10 miles following reset. Any advice much appreciated.
  6. Update! managed to remove the door card and inner plate to get access to the door lock assembly . After trying to release the wiring connector without any luck I tried the key fob again and the door unlocked. Maybe it was a connection fault at the connector, but I have sprayed all around any linkage and moving parts with WD 40 to see if it helps. My worry now is that as the car is a taxi and I dread to think of a passenger being unable to get out if the lock should enable itself and get stuck again. So, is there a way to disable the central locking just on the front passenger door without disabling any other feature? There are a number of coloured wires going to the locking unit and someone might know which wire operates the locking mechanism.
  7. My front passenger door has not been unlocking every time recently but a gentle pull on the interior handle would have the lock button jump up and all would be well. However today the door will not unlock at all after many attempts and wondered if there is a magical way to deal with it. Is there constant power to the central locking when locked so that disconnecting the battery will release the mechanism? Not tried it yet. If necessary, is it possible to pull away the door trim inside while the door is locked ? Any advice much appreciated. Cheers. KF>
  8. Thanks for the advice.. I didn't realise the inner pads are handed so will check that first. I did fit Motaquip pads so if they appear sloppy I will try some genuine OE pads. Cheers.
  9. Fitted new front brake pads recently and all has been well until a high pitch clunk sound appeared when applying the brakes as if a pad is loose in its caliper seating, but I wonder if it is more likely a worn bush or joint in the front suspension. Now also I hear a noise like wheel bearing wear but only when travelling in a straight line which disappears when I apply the brake. Anyone suffered a similar problem? Skoda Superb 2005 TDI.
  10. The button on the right of the selector knob has been loose but functioning for a long time but today it popped off and I see there are a couple of broken plastic bits sitting inside the knob cavity. A new knob assembly is around 150 quid, so has anyone been successful in doing a repair to make the button work? Is its function solely to push in the plastic plunger with a steel pin in the end? I have pushed the button back in place and its working but likely to drop out again . Any helpful advice much appreciated. Cheers.. March 2005 Skoda Superb 1.9tdi Auto .
  11. Skoda Superb Auto, 1'9TDI March 2005. Just happened this morning. A noise like a paper bag flapping about somewhere inside the dash near the screen air exit vents. Just happens when driving with wind passing through the grille and then through the cabin filter it seems. Anyone had a similar problem or anyone got any advice on how to gain access into that area?
  12. I need to find a repair manual for my March 2005 Superb Auto, 1.9TDI. Can't see one listed in the Haynes catalogue. And the CD type repair guides found on Ebay only run on Windows and not Mac Computers (mine's a Mac) . Is the Passat manual a close substitute? Any advice most welcome. Thanks in advance. KF.
  13. Recently bought a 2005 Skoda Superb 1.9 TDI Auto and find the fuel consumption to be disappointing compared to my old 2001 Octavia 1.9TDI. Average town and country drive will only see a 34 MPG return . Is there likely to be a fault in the fuel management system ? Any help much appreciated.. KF.
  14. Just bought a Skoda superb with 17" alloys fitted with 225-45-17 tyres. The spare wheel is a 16" steel with a 205-65-16 tyre fitted. Can anyone tell me if the circumference is the same being different profiles? I thought the 17" wheels were standard until I saw the 16" spare.
  15. That sounds perfect. I will have a look and hopefully find the grommet you mention this evening. I intend to use 2 x 5mm cables myself.. Thanks for the advice. KF.
