  1. Hi all, thank you so much for your replies and I apologise for being so delayed getting back on to the forum to catch up. So it transpires we do have wireless android auto in our Karoq. It took a full delete of my phone from the car system (Bluetooth from the Amundsen screen and wireless connection from my phone’s Wi-Fi list) before the car would set up AA again. The car then immediately recognised my phone (Samsung A54) and brought AA up on screen with no cable required. So it appears there may have been some error in the initial setup/connection when we got the car. It’s now effortless with google maps up on screen a few seconds after we get in and start the car. As for the MIB iteration, from what I can deduce (and from experience with our 2021 SEAT Ateca) I believe that USB-C ports in the car denotes a MIB3 system (with the hardware located in the glovebox, no SD or SIM card slots in the front as some of the older MIBs had). And as far as I have read/experienced, MIB3 comes with wireless Android Auto. @kodiaqsportline - great info thanks; our Karoq is a pre-facelift with MIB3 and wireless AA, USB-C ports etc. It appears that at the same time and denoting the same infotainment change, Skoda removed the small ‘Sportline’ badge on the passenger side dashboard facia. @fux- I’m pleased to hear there is a solution for wireless AA in the form of a carsick interface, however interesting to hear about battery drain - having used the OEM setup for a week or so now, I haven’t noticed and additional battery drain so I wonder if that’s a function of how the phone connects to the system via OEM Wi-Fi or via a third party interface. I have also set up wireless AA in our Ateca, however that car has the Columbus screen without physical knobs/buttons and is much trickier to navigate between AA functions and vehicle-based functions (radio, car settings etc). Thanks again for your help and descriptions, and if I can assist in return let me know - now I have it working I’ll be happy to test or check things out for others. Simon
  2. Re-posted here from the Karoq forum to see if I can call on experience from owners of other models... Our 70-plate Karoq Sportline has wireless phone charging and USB C ports in the centre concole ahead of the gear lever. Very handy and an excellent step on from the single, old style USB port in my opinion. However I'm trying to unravel which infotainment unit we have (MIB3?) and, importantly, if this indicates that we should also have wireless Android Auto capability? The numerous different options around infotainment don't appear to make clear what spec and functionality should be available, and all seems to vary by build date, factory options etc. Any help or experience from others would be fantastic. Thanks in advance, Simon

  4. So I've been looking at used Karoqs for a couple on months now, having owned one in the past and needing a newer car for the family. The example that has my attention at the moment is great, but I noticed when inspecting at the dealer the RHR wheelarch sealant is a bit odd. Looks as though it has been applied roughly at the factory then trimmed back, but leaving an open edge to the paint system. The sealant also protrudes a millimetre or so out from under the arch, as though the bead was flattened on application. Hard to see in the photo, but that pic is taken looking upward under the arch lip. It's the forward corner of the arch dead adjacent to where the rear door closes against the body. There are no other signs of a repair having been done. Does this look odd or suspicious to anybody else, or do others see the same on their cars? Perhaps this is the norm from the factory? Obviously the paint needs touching up again, but I'm concerned this might be a weak point in a dirty area, or may need further paint repair to make it right. The car is decent money on the forecourt too, not a cheaper end example. Thanks for any feedback. Simon
  5. Thanks for the info kodiaqsportline. ... I'd love one of those 👍🏻 ... one of those would be great too 👍🏻 ... trying to avoid one of these 👍🏻 Odd approach? Perhaps, yes. But doing a bit of due diligence on here isn't a bad thing and might help guide me towards a reliable car. Excellent advice and answers one of my original questions, thank you 🙂
  6. Sounds as though you have found a great car JFJ, thatnks for sharing your experience. I've heard mixed messages on how effective the software updates are, but only from the VAG forums, not first-hand. I'm pleased you're enjoying your new Karoq and it appears you've got a good one there! Any more thoughts from others on the OP would be very welcome 👍🏻
  7. Thanks for replying Schtum, glad to hear you're pleased with yours. You're absolutely right, there are a number of tdi's around, but travelling the country to see a car is laborious and obviously you can't be certain the condition until you visit the vehicle. There is a white sportline at Simpsons Preston currently (KM19***); we drove the car, pretty much decided we were having it, then walked around and snagged it with the salesperson and found it has had a repair on the LHF wing/bumper/bonnet (also three people at the dealer stood in front of me and swore the corrosion around one of the bonnet stops was not corrosion! They couldn't tell me what it was though 😂 Real corporate/sales toe-the-line stuff. Also uninterested in sorting a tyre with severely cracked sidewall - total farce). My point is, there are many more 1.5s around to get to and take a look at, hence me trying to find out more and see what might be present if I drive an affected car.
  8. So having been a habitual Škoda owner over the years, I’m pursuing the Karoq as our next family car. We’ve had one in the past (a ‘19 plate 1.0 DSG) and the Sportline has caught my eye again as a practical and good looking option. I have a healthy budget and would aim for a 2019 / 2020 car, sub-30k miles, my pick being the 2.0 tdi 4x4, however they’re vastly outnumbered by 1.5 tsi models (regardless of driveline) when searching the classifieds. I’m aware (via the internet…) of the 1.5 tsi kangaroo concerns and don’t want to buy into a problem vehicle. So, from those with the unfortunate experience of having been affected by the 1.5 issues, how safe am I in plumbing for a 1.5? - Would the issue be apparent on your average test drive? (I’m certain I’d detect the issue if it occurred, but by this I mean would the problem show within say 10 miles of driving?) - Are there good cars and bad cars, i.e. are some completely unaffected? - Could the problem develop over time? With 15-30k miles already run in, would the issue be evident or have some had experience with it beginning later? Thanks in advance for any advice you can lend.
