  1. recently changed my plugs and coil packs to NGK at same time as oil/filter service, car running like new (60 plate vRS)
  2. After failed tensioner on my car a local independent engine specialist did all the work and was fantastic, he had a total of 5 2.0tsi engines in his workshop the same week as me and is well aware of the fail. He also ensured the best quality parts were used to replace including the upgraded/revised tensioner, a pleasure to deal with, so I don't necessarily believe that it has to be a Skoda trained tech doing the work, as long as the garage/workshop is familiar with the VAG engine(s) and the known issues.
  3. Appreciate your feedback and advice since posting, I'll continue to pursue this through various channels and hope that there can be a suitable resolution. Car was bought from a non-Skoda dealership less than 12 months ago.
  4. Failed tensioner on my 2010 2.0tsi vRS (CCZA), been at engine specialist for analysis and rebuild work. Car on 71K miles and been serviced as required. Dissapointed that SKODA UK are showing no interest in my issue or my brand loyalty. I was told when purchasing in May 2016, that the chain would 'never have to be replaced'. However I am now aware that there is a very well documented tensioner failure which causes various degrees of engine damage. The online information relating to this failed part is astonishing and its been covered in the press etc, Skoda denied any knowledge of tensioner issues when i contacted them, which i found strange. I've contacted Trading Standards for some info and await an update.
  5. Morning all, my vRS (mark 1) has had problems in the last week, diagnostics shows code: P2138 - THROTTLE PEDAL SENSOR A garage told me that they tried a new accelerator pedal and that this would resolve issue but did not. Their next attempt was to extend the wiring loom behind the pedal, however this ‘fix’ was short lived, 1 hour later the engine cut out. EPC and Engine Management Light came on Car would not rev above 2000rpm Car started shuddering Then Traction Control light also appeared just prior to engine cutting out I was very lucky it cut out on a quiet street and not on a busy road. AA came out and the P2138 code listed above was showing again. He investigated the wiring behind the pedal and checked the switch, cleared the code and got me to drive the 1 mile journey home, this was OK. A few more tests and it appeared that the error had cleared and was not returning immediately. Next morning, went to drive to work, EPC on, Car shuddering like hell, turned around and parked up on drive in case it cut out again. I am keen for advice on the above and I am trying to figure out if I should go to a dealer workshop this time, been let down badly by garage in last week. I have searched forums for EPC light and the error code, however symptoms all seem to be slightly different, thanks in advance for help D
  6. Be very careful. Website (and staff) promise courtesy car, full valet and great service. However, car came out with more problems, long delays, lies and they appeared to be guessing what was wrong and the service was attrocious. I foolishly thought that a nice setting and the name specialist was a good idea, lesson learned. Will never go near this place again. KTF
  7. Mornin' All, I recently posted about a droning sound coming from the car, with no loss of power or performance, however when the car drives above 30mph it sounds like an aeroplane in mid flight. Having asked a few people for advice and let them experience the noise, general feeling is that it's most likely the wheel bearing/plate (excuse my ignorance) !! Can anyone advise what i should be looking to pay an independant garage if it is indeed wheel bearing related? The car is a 2005 with 51K miles and generally in fine order. Cheers D
  8. Hi There, Anyone with Vag Com willing to run doiagnostics on my Octavia vRS? I will repay any kind soul with a case of lager from the supermarket. Thanks in advance D
