  1. PeterGAH, Just wanted to find out whether you found and fixed the cause as I am in a similar situation. Thanks in advance. KSAOctavia
  2. Update: I have cleaned the MAF sensor and the Throttle Body. The initial problems with idling have disappeared and thank God the engine light is now gone. However, the response of the car has not improve much mainly at lower speeds and when idle has white smoke. I might need to clean the Throttle body again as I did not manage to do a perfect job last time.
  3. Thanks both for the response. I have been doing some reading since the post and these two possibilities came up. Other few things that I came up was clean throttle body, issues with catalytic converter and O2 sensor. Guess I will start with what you both have said. Hopefully the engine light will disappear. Thanks once again. Will provide an update as it would help someone else.
  4. Hi all, My engine light has been lit for a while now and I'm in the process of figuring out how to fix it. P0172 and P0101 has been found. Any help on how to fix it would be greatly appreciated. I had a broken breather pipe which I thought was the issue. It has been replaced but the engine light is still on. The codes however has not been reset after the breather pipe was installed. Would that solve the issue? The car has just been serviced. However, it has rough starts and rough idling issues. This has been reduced since the breather pipe has been changed but its still there. Sometimes I can smell petrol while driving. I have seen on a youtube video that a bad fuel cap can result in the engine light being on. Does anyone have any experience of this? MPG has also been reduced. Thanks in advance for any help.
  5. Hi, I had a similar problem but it was more of a clicking noise especially when I turned my wheels. The front lower suspension arm rear support bolt was loose and once it was tightened the noise disappeared. I'm not sure whether this could be the case for you but you could just get it checked. While I was researching on the internet for the cause of my problem, I also came across a faulty CV joint. Hope it helps
  6. Thanks you all for the replies. I've been to the local garage and they figured out what the problem was. The front lower suspension arm rear support bolt was loose. They tightened it and its all good now. Thanks all once again
  7. Yeap both of them are standard Mk1 wheels. The bolts were done by a local garage so I believe that they are done properly.
  8. Hi all, I have an Octavia classic and had steel wheels on them until yesterday when I changed them to factory alloys. It used to be 15" but now they are 16". Since I've changed them the car keeps making a creaking sound when moving off from a standstill and when steering. Does anyone know what the reason could be. I was told that I might need spacers and I have used the bolts from the steel wheels. I am going to take it for diagnostics tomorrow but if someone know what the reason could be I could save some money Thanks in advance for all your suggestions.
  9. Hi all, Could you please let me know if these alloys fit Octavia 2002 model? http://www.ebay.co.u...e#ht_500wt_1287 Thanks in advance
  10. thanks for the suggestion...I had a look on ebay but could not find one for 1.6. I tried contacting the Skoda dealer but they haven't got back to me. Im gona try fixin this myself now.
  11. Hi All, I have searched the topic and found a few answers here. But most of the discussions on this topic was for VRS and the pipe is a bit different for the 1.6 that I own. I have uploaded some picture of the problem I have. 1st of all I want to make sure that it is the breather pipe. 2: Does any one have a part number for this? 3: For the VRS I read that we can use silicon replacements...is that possible for the 1.6 as well and if it is where can I find it? 4: Where does this pipe lead to and Finally How long would it take to change this pipe. Thank you for any suggestions and answers Uploaded with ImageShack.us Uploaded with ImageShack.us Uploaded with ImageShack.us
  12. Hi all, I had my Octavia serviced recently. It was recommended that I change the cambelt. As a fianl year student I am financially tight this year. So I just wanted to know whether it is time that I change my cambelt or can I go on longer using the same belt. The car is 8 years old and have done around 52k. I might only do a max of 5k this year as I am quite busy with my studies. Thanks for all help
