  1. Karoq Sportline 1.5tsi DSG coming in January. Can the traffic sign recognition be activated via VCDS or OBDeleven? Thanks in advance.
  2. I'm done here! Unfortunately I am unable to delete the post or myself from this place.
  3. Seems only you thought it was a "silly question" as the other responses were quite helpful!! I have suddenly remembered why I haven't bothered to come on here for two years!!!
  4. Seems only you thought it was a "silly question" as the other responses were quite helpful!!
  5. When you respond with condescending/patronising comments, don't be be surprised at the response... I will enjoy my day, thanks!
  6. Cheers fella. I think with the nice options like black pack plus, leather, pano roof, Columbus & Canton and the active cruise, for a private buyer doing normal miles, I think mine would be a great car. Got to be a better buy than an ex lease/company car I'd have thought. Even though Cap clean on mine is just under 9k I'd have thought it would be on the forecourt for up to 14k.
  7. Cheers for the feedback guys. For the ones that replied with getting basic valuations - I am well aware of how to do that! With the miles, its trading just under 9k - so if that's all it's actually worth then no I ain't going to get rid as it's way too much of a car to sell it for that! Tyres are probably 60% worn on the front and 50% on the rear. My plan was always to keep it for about 5 years/150k miles and that is what I will probably do as it still goes like the day I had it. With the factory extras it was listing at £35300 plus the grands worth or so of extra bits I put on. I had a good deal on it via a broker but it was still over 28k. Just thought that as this is a place for lovers of the model that here would be the place to ask. Yes the extras don't effectively have a value, but surely as it has so many nice extras then, despite the miles, I'd like to think it's worth a bit more that a basic spec vRS with the same miles. Anyway, again, thanks for the replies.
  8. Do I change the car or not???? April 2016 Octy Combi vRS diesel DSG, 99k, race blue, full dealer history, few stone chips apart, its in excellent condition, I bought it new. Car has a load of factory extras:- Spare wheel; Detachable tow hitch (hardly used); Heated/folding mirrors; Black pack plus; Heated leather (grey stitching); Panoramic roof; Variable boot floor; Columbus sat nav+Canton; Front & rear parking sensors; Adaptive cruise; Light assist; Electric tailgate; Winter pack. Also has:- Front & rear mud flaps, Super Skoda grille, Maxton splitter, black badges, roof wrapped black around the sunroof, front Heko wind deflectors, black bumper protector, light brows, lidded compartments under the seats, bonnet struts. Car has been regularly cleaned and always looks lovely - regularly get comments of approval from total strangers!! Car not had any issues, no DPF problems, everything is great and it still drives spot on. Whats it worth?
  9. Dealer told me that [technicians] "they think its coming from the heater matrix"..... I'm going to ask the service manager to print me off all the dash diagrams off Ekta and take it apart myself! 1st thing I'll be checking is the knee bags area!!
  10. Excellent news Finnster! How much of the dash/panels were removed to locate it? - Didnt know they had knee bags!
  11. lol, always noticed this too! Was really bad when I used to drive vans, think is just air moving around the cabin...
  12. Cheers, yes please keep me posted. I was thinking about removing the stereo screen and/or the clock binnacle - pretty big hole there to put my hand in....
  13. Hi all, my car has a very annoying noise/buzz/rattle from behind the dash, its been there from new, spoke to the dealer at the time and it was basically "we'll need to remove the dash"! Yeah, remove the dash to get rid of one noise and gain two others - no thanks! However, 22 months & 54k miles later, the noise has now gone from being there at 1000rpm to being there around 2000rpm - so basically normal travelling speed. Its wrecking me! Anyone else had similar issues and if so did you get to the bottom of it? TIA.
  14. After using about 5 miles of floss, I gave up on that idea and just warmed then with a head gun and pulled them off with my fingers!!
  15. Thats great, thanks. Is yours manual or DSG? I think its the 'box that numbs it... even though its great day to day doing fairly big miles, it spoils the performance.
  16. Had a Shark STS for my Altea company car, it was great. Ben knows his stuff at Shark. Asked him for something mild (as it was a leased company car) and thats what I had - car did 180k's with no problem and is still going well as it ended up with a friend.
  17. Early 40's generally, can get 50+ if I have a long motorway drive and keep at 70. Didnt expect it to be like the Altea on fuel as its over 50bhp more powerful - even though it has stop/start and 8 years technology on the Altea but I did expect it to be quicker. Was demolished by a 140 Scirocco recently...........
  18. Cheers everyone for replying and your views! As said, my Altea was a 1.9 105pd and really was not very quick at all - I wasnt expecting it to be but it was a company car so I didnt have much option....... I had it flashed over and told the company that did it, that as it was a company/lease car I didnt want loads of poke as I needed it to be reliable - they suggested about 25bhp extra, but it was just right for what it was. I had the opportunity to opt out and have my own car and as I'd always wanted an Octavia vRS thats what I got. The comment about the DSG dulling the performance is bang on, but even overall in 6th and 2k+ revs, it doesnt pull noticeably harder than the old PD tractor... There is a long climb after the end of the M4 which I travel virtually every day, the Altea before flash would struggle to do 70, after flash it would touch 3 figures, I was expecting the Octy to be doing much more but its virtually the same! Doing over 30k miles a year a petrol is not an option and whilst a diesel estate can never be described as a 'sports car', nevertheless, 184bhp is decent power and I feel it should go better than what it does. Wouldnt mind the disappointing performance if it was doing 50+mpg but the economy is crap too! Oh well...... I think a DTUK box is needed....
  19. Doing over 30k per year, I took it out - mine was considerably more than you guys seems to have paid - £220...... Like 'RupertsTrooper' my insurance was "new for old" for the 1st 12 months but its now 15 months old....... However, despite quizzing the adviser deeply about the way it works and being HUGELY pessimistic, I took it out. I still find it hard to believe though.... So, scenario, this time next year the car is written off, AXA (my insurance company) pay me, say, 15k. My Gap policy is "return to invoice" so as I paid £28,425 then Gap will pay me £13,425? For a £220 premium I find this extremely hard to believe!! Does anyone know anyone that has actually claimed on Gap and been paid out as I am very curious!
  20. Okay guys, is it me or what? Had my VRS TDI DSG Combi for 15 months and done 40k miles but the performance - or lack of it, is VERY disappointing...... My previous lightly flashed over Altea BXE 105 was what it was - about 130bhp tops, but my Octy - considering its at least 50bhp more is no quicker! A long climb up a hill near me, the Octy is no quicker than the Altea.... Its been in for service three times and each time I've asked them about the [lack of] performance but they say its fine..... Anyone else think their 184 is more like 124?
  21. Recently bought a mint Fabia 1.4 tdi BNV Sport, 49k miles, one really careful owner, full service history. Removed the engine yesterday and removed the sump - oil pump chain broken & wrapped around the crank sprocket (which seems to be out of shape & very loose). Happened on the motorway, "there was a popping noise then the oil light came on so I coasted to the hard shoulder". Crank is very tight, slackened off the main bearing caps and no difference.... Got to borrow a 12 point bi-hex impact socket for the belt pulley so I can see whats going on there...... More info to follow...... Will be rebuilding the engine with new parts where needed, is there any upgrade for the chain? I.e., can it be converted to gear drive like the 4 cylinder engines? Chain driven balancer shaft, unbelievably poor design.....
  22. Have an opportunity to buy a Fabia 1.4 tdi Sport with a seized engine. Its got a BNV engine code, can any techy's tell me what is specific to this engine compared to BNM, BMS, BHC, etc. Do I need to get a BNV and nothing else? TIA..
  23. Good question actually, I don't think I've tried that in the 22k miles I've had it! Something for tomorrow.... lol
  24. Auto climate control!! Why fuss with it? Had climate for 16 years, I rarely touch it, may go down to 18 in a very hot summer otherwise its between 19 & 21 depending on the weather/time of year but generally just leave it to do its thing, no need to touch it imo - its always on AUTO! Ditto auto lights & wipers and now I've got a DSG I don't touch that either!! lol .
