thats fair comment, never really thought of it like that, probably best explained by me being brain dead in that no-mans land between Christmas & New Year!!

is there a bit of the forum to post goodbye on when you move on from a Skoda? thanks
-
Slightly off topic, but my wife just got a new Fiat and their Blue&Me seems to be a great system, and is very simple to set up and operate, surely with all the R&D resources available to VW they could come up with a similar system? lets hope so before my new car is due next March!! cheers

Help needed - Fitting additional 12v power supplies
briang replied to weyland's topic in Audio, Electronics and Security
Guess you have the saloon? the estate has another in the boot, I have found over the years with two kids and many long trips with many electrical devices that a combination of extensions and adapters ( ie 1 into 4 sockets) seems to work and doesnt involve making any holes etc. But dont do what I did, left a fridge plugged in overnight on a ferry to France, result flat battery, rather irate holiday makers behind us and extrememly red face on my part!! -

Think this is an "undocumented feature" of the MkII Octy, my March 08 VRS estate still mists terribly, had it into dealer and they claim there is nothing wrong. Mine is very bad if I have been driving for a while and stop for around 10 mins, when I start the car it seems to actually blow steam onto the windows, particularly with A/C on. I find directing air to floor for first few minutes lessens this particular one. I have just learned to live with it, the Vrs is such fun I can forgive it !! (tho build quality is not as good as my last MkI Vrs!!) cheers

Seat belt anchors ? is this correct
briang replied to Jules59's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk II (2004 - 2013)
doesnt the passenger seat have a seat belt sensor then? cheers -
I think the build quality in the Octy 2 is not as good, had mine 3 months now and a couple of niggles, bad door buzzing from speaker in passenger door, drove in heavy rain the other day and got water coming in through top of both front doors, I recall seeing something on here before about door seals being a known problem but cant seem to find it using the search, also it mists up when first starting almost like the heater vents are blowing steam on the windscreen, even with air-con on. Would be greatful if someone could direct me to the door seals issue before I go to the dealer. I also think it might be a good idea to have a sticky about known faults, a FIAT forum I go on for ny wifes car has this and its very useful IMHO Cheers

Half a dozen questions about the VRS...
briang replied to birchy's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk II (2004 - 2013)
correct first guess aspman!! re auto/econ, dont have these options on mine only the three big dials and an A/C on/off and a recirc on off and a heated rw on/off Interesting you got your dealer to fit the extras free, did he do all of them for you?, Mr Shark's leasing people have told me i would need to pay to have them fitted, think I might seek Skoda UK advice on this one Thanks -
Half a dozen questions about the VRS...
briang replied to birchy's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk II (2004 - 2013)
Had mine almost a month now and have noticed 2 things I didnt have in the old Mk1 vRS. the exhaust "boom" from the new one is very loud, and I agree the windows mist terribly when its cold outside first thing in the morning, and I have the A/C on all the time and recirc switched off. Also mine is leased and didnt get the free upgrade, Dealer says I should have ordered them even though they are free. Mind you the leasing company are owned by a very well known shark in the Scottish Motor Trade so shouldnt expect much I suppose. Prizes for first correct guess!! cheers -
Tux, you should name and shame the company to ensure none of us ever use them!!! Mine is on a lease, when I compared similar specs of Passats and Mondeos they were going to cost much more over the 3 year period, particularly the Mondeo as thats worth £50 after the first year. To my mind the blue oval is a damn site worse than a Skoda badge!! cheers

Meh meh meh

Had my new Vrs estate for a couple of days, first impression is that is is noisier than the old one, not road noise but what could best be desrcibed as a "boom" from the exhaust, any body else noticed this before i go back to the dealer? Thanks

just replaced my 05 silver Vrs estate with a race blue 08 Vrs estate today, very pleased so far!!

used small amount of Oxiclean or similar laundry additive to some warm water, used a sponge cloth, then dried with some kitchen towel, cleaned the seats a treat, and what my two kids can throw at the seats is way worse than anything mentioned in here so far!! Hope this helps cheers

just waiting on my new Octy Estate on March 3rd, but going to France shortly after, anybody know if the alarm can be turned off, saw many red faces last year with flat battery as alarm had been going off all night with motion of the ferry, wasnt a problem with my mark 1 as its got no alarm, was a problem when I left a fridge plugged in over night 2 years ago, kids have not let me live it down, and we were at the front of the queue!! cheers
