  1. Change the engine oil at least every 10000 miles, and always use premium fuel (such as V power nitro +) is my advice. My 59 plate vRS has clocked up 136k from new in my hands and still runs like a dream. Bob --
  2. Had my 170 CR just coming up 6 years from new - now clocked up 134k and still going strong. New aux water pump and turbo actuator in the past year but I gather they are common failures, and weren't too expensive to get fixed by my local indy. I do mostly motorway miles, and maintenance is key - I have mine on variable servicing but do an oil/filter change mid-way. I expect it to go soldiering on for some time yet (hopefully!). Cheers, Bob --
  3. The pump is about 125 quid but only half an hour labour to fit, so somewhat cheaper than the turbo actuator!
  4. Mine failed back in Feb. I didn't get the DPF light though - that may be a different issue. I had the flashing glow plug light for a couple of days before the check engine light came on (no limp mode though). My local independent VAG specialist fixed it, and it was a bit over 300 quid IIRC, so your quote sounds in the right ball park. It must be a common fault as Skoda hold the part in stock. The rubber had perished on the failed one, so I guess they will all go in time. I'm booked in to get the secondary electric coolant pump replaced next week - another common thing to fail - they are stock parts too! Can't complain too much though as I've racked up 125k from new so far. Cheers, Bob --
  5. I had the same thing happen to me nearly a year ago on my 2.0 CR - turned out to be the sensor. It's the only time in 4 years and 91,000 miles the DPF light has ever come on.
  6. My son's a rozzer and he says his traffic division has a V6 Superb estate and that it's awesome and they all love it. Can't comment on it as a towcar but he says it's certainly got grunt and they've had over 160 out of it
  7. Fear not, nothing will blow up or drop off! I went a couple of hundred miles over before my last service. It will just flash the word "service" at you every time you start up and drive off.
  8. Mine's done 70,000 now and still sweet as a nut - doesn't use any oil. Didn't run it in at all as such - I don't think you have to on modern engines.
  9. My CR vRS is just coming up to 3 years old and 70,000 miles, and never had a squeak out of the DFP, so put it out of your mind!
  10. Just about to reach 70,000 miles from new on a 59 plate CR vRS and apart from a faulty DPF sensor, which does seem to be a common problem on the CR, but was quickly replaced under warranty, never had a squeak from the DPF. I do about 25k miles a year though, mostly motorway. If I only did say 10k a year I'd have bought the petrol version.
  11. I've had to change my dipped beam bulbs several times and never had to readjust the beam as a result. As gsp suggests just shine them against a wall just to check nothing's been disturbed once you've done it. Owners manuals tend to suggest a lot of things that are unecessary, probably for legal reasons.
  12. Yes I've been using showroom shine for a couple of years, and it's great. I was put onto it by a mate of mine who has a couple of lovely old BMWs and is very particular about his paintwork, and neither of us has had any problems.
  13. I have now covered 63,000 miles from new in my CR vRS and I had only ever noticed it doing a regen 3 or 4 times during all those miles. The light had never come on either until about a month ago, when it stayed on and eventually went into limp mode. Turned out to be a faulty sensor - half a day at the dealer's and it's back to normal. I do mostly motorway driving though so would not expect any real DPF issues.
  14. My vRS CR has now clocked up 56k and the consumption throughout that has been pretty much consistent at around 45mpg, mostly motorway driving. Much of the higher fuel consumption is down to the wider lower profile tyres on the vRS. When I put 16" wheels on with narrower higher profile winter tyres I was immediately getting 54 mpg average. Took them off this Spring, back down to mid 40s.
  15. Well there will be a cheap MDI cable on eBay next week :-/
  16. Hi all, I have a MY2011 vRS with the Bolero, and assumed it would have an MDI socket as standard well as the 3.5mm audio jack. But I cannot find it! Is this not the case? Do you only get the MDI interface with some option I don't have? I have scoured the glovebox and jumbo box but no socket. Cheers, Bob --
  17. Just the answer I was looking for - thanks m0bov. Cheers, Bob --
  18. Anyone done this? Noticed one of my front fogs has been cracked by a stone. Is it an easy DIY job or one for the dealer? Anyone got any idea of the cost of a new lens? Cheers, Bob --
  19. Found a MDI - Audio cable on eBay - just bought one
