Can anyone recommend towing mirrors for a Skoda Kodiaq? I need to buy some but concerned they may not be suitable.

Thanks to those who responded. I can understand the need for extra cooling if you’re towing to or near the limit. I can’t I’m too old and I didn’t take up “grandfather’s rights” so I’m limited to 3500kg -towing vehicle and caravan/trailer. My intended use is to carry bikes or tow a an unbraked trailer maximum gross weight 750kg. Again thanks to those who responded.

I’m contemplating having an aftermarket towbar fitted to my Sportline 190 tdi. I’ve been on this site and another and some are saying “oh you need up graded cooling!” I ask why? How many other manufacturers require this? I’ve had towbars fitted on a number of vehicles but never had to upgrade the cooling so why is it I ask are people saying it’s needed. I think it’s probably propaganda from Skoda who are covering their rear ends and hoping customers will get it fixed by factory or by local Skoda dealer - the latter who will probably get it fitted locally and rack up the price to the customer. And I speak from experience! Towbar on an Octavia from dealer £680. From fitter direct who fitted it for dealer £460! I’ve sought independent technical advice from a motoring association and a specialist and they it’s not necessary on my car. I reiterate on my model and make of car. So why are people saying it’s necessary?

Has anyone had a fixed Sean neck toe bar fitted to their Kodiaq. If so does it interfere with the rear sensors?

I’m beginning to wish I’d never asked!! Ive had towbars fitted by main dealers before with no cooling upgrade so why do I need it now? I think Skoda scare people into opting for their over expensive towbars by saying you need an upgraded cooling system. If they’re fitted post factory dealers also rip you off. They get local suppliers to fit them and charge you top whack! I was merely looking for some recommendations as to type if towbars and fitter.!!!!

Thanks When I mean basic I meant simple not detachable or foldable. I’ve had loads of Towbars fitted over the years so I know about can bus and manufacturer matched wiring systems. I’ve had units fitted both by main dealers and aftermarket but never needed cooling system mods. The trailer I’ve got is very light and the bike carrier should not affect cooling Im just looking for someone recommended in my area but thanks for the advice.

I’ve got 20” diamond cut alloys on my Kodiaq. They are prone to kerb damage I’m informed in fact I know they are. Has anyone fitted any rim protectors to this type of wheel eg Rimsavers? Is so are they any good? Are there alternatives and I don’t mean keep away from kerbs? Also is it possible to get a smart repair done to a slight scuff on a wheel? Most repairers want to refurbish the whole wheel for a small superficial scuff less than 2”.

I bought a bootliner from Travelsmart for my Kodiaq. I had ordered a Titan ( same company I think) but they were extremely slow to deliver. The Travelsmart is ok but you don’t have the option to separately fold down the rear seats which I had on a Hatchbag. Having said that it’s half the price and it does the job adequately!

Sorry but this post refers possibly to other models as well! Can anyone explain the rationale whereby if you purchase a car with a list price over £40000 you have to pay a higher rate of tax? As I see it under the new taxation rules buying a new non electric car you have to pay a lump sum upfront dependent on level of emissions. If your car is under £40000 list price you then pay £150 annually Car tax . However if you car has a list price over £40000 you have pay £325 extra a year for the next 5 years. What the hell is all about? For example my car cost £42000 and has CO2 emission level of 185 gm/km so I have to pay £475 tax annually. However if I had bought a more polluting vehicle eg a Ford Ranger with an emission level of 225gm/ km and less than £40000 list price I would pay £500 more upfront then £150 a year car tax . What the hell has list price got to do with emissions. Nothing. Being over £40000 does not mean necessarily it’s more polluting! Why should someone who wants to pay more than £40000 for a car be penalised?( they pay more VAT anyway) It makes no sense whatsoever as I view it! Why didnt motoring manufacturers and organisations challenge the government on this nonsensical way of taxation? Motorhome manufactures did and it now seems you can buy a £75000 motor home and pay the standard £150 a year tax on a vehicle which undoubtedly is more polluting than a car! Sorry if I’ve misinterpreted the rules but it seem that they are penalising anyone buying a car with a list price over the £40000 threshold and there are a few Skodas that exceed that price especially if you go for some nice options.

Just taken delivery of a new 190 tdi Sportline. Very nice but disappointed that it doesn’t have the telephone button on the steering wheel to make calls etc Am I missing something or can calls only be made through the infotainment screen? Have tried voice commands but it doesn’t recognise a Welsh accent!

I’m looking for a tailored rubber boot liner for my 7 seat Kodiaq. Just for the floor area not the complete boot space. Anyone got any suggestions or recommendations please?

Just taken delivery of a 190 Tsi DSG. How can I disable the stop/start system? It seems to have a mind of its own. Comes on sometimes but then again it doesn’t. Really irritating and can’t be doing engine any good!

I’ve been offered a Kodiaq Sportline 190tdi DSG at a very attractive discount. Not being familiar with this engine and transmission I’m wonder what the mpg is likely to be? Anyone got any experience of a Kodiaq with this engine and what mpg is achievable?
