  1. Yep, bonded, and bonded well tbh. I masked the area up and sprayed it in situ......
  2. Its a fair point, I did do some breif searching, but theres loads of topics on this subject and none that i scanned thru really gave a definaitive answer hence this topic. While I fully agree with the upgrade to cupra bushes is the probably the best for most, my issue with going to harder bushes is that i dont want to over stiffen the car as its my daily drive and sporty / comfortable enough as it is. couple this with the fact that its got 67K and is a 2004 model, its survived quite well to this point, im guessing its the poor state of roads that have developed over the cold weather reacently is why the console bushes are naffed as my in-laws fiesta has got naffed shocks on the rear and a few friends have had various suspension issues also. If the revised designed bushes offer a decent ride and can last a good time, then il fit them but with a lot of people saying the cupra bushes arent that much louder, then il have to consider them also, but truthfully, they wont be my first choice on paper, unless i can see the both in person and see the advantages over the revised bush item.....
  3. OK thanks, il keep that in mind. Will start enquiring about it next week once ive checked the car over for any more areas that may need attention.
  4. Brake cleaner is a solvent and should evaporate quickly if used in moderation.....
  5. OK guys, thanks for the inputs, il look and see what TPS have in stock when I call them and the first one they suggest, wins
  6. Kind of, but what makes the standard ones a bit easier is they use a nylon outter sleve rather than ally, which should make them a bit slippier to get in with basic tools. Its no means a night and day difference in how easy they are to fit as both will require some effort BUT I dont want to make the car too tight to use everyday.
  7. Normal bushes Are these the updated standard items? Cant really tell on the design but they look slightly different........
  8. Fair comments guys, i will consider them still but im also looking for ease of fitting too as il be doing this myself, if i cant get no joy with the normal / revised items and part numbers then il look into the cupra ones
  9. Il be using a trade parts specialist outlet as my local skoda dealership is as usefull as blown engine. Should it be the same case with TPS as they use OE parts also?
  10. Thanks dude but im based in South Wales Wouls love the answer still tho as ive yet to see it here, theres a reference to something about it but no part numbers......
  11. OK before you all scream "search" let me just explain, I know the prefered upgrade is seat cupra bushes and powerflex items BUT ive also read about increased harshness in the ride and noise levels with using these bushes. So what im going to ask is..... I thought I read here that theres a standard bush thats a better design from the original fabia items, that comes off the octavia prehaps?? If this is the case, whats the part number and price for this item as i think our potholed roads as seen off my console bushes...... Thanks for the help Steve
  12. Just tell her its a good family car, thats what I did with mine, altho launch and anti lag kinda ruined that veiw not long after! lol
  13. Indigo-GT in Merthyr Tydfil could also help and is a bit closer. My timing belt and water pump was changed there and has been great since.
  14. Thanks Gray, il look into the colour match idea first then if hammerite is close enough as Euro car parts can supply one for my car but un-painted... Are there any other types of green colour close to the VRS caliper green incase hammerite isnt readily availiable?
  15. Hi all, im aware that the rear calipers can be sticky and sorted with springs however i think one of them is naffed so just so im prepared, wheres best to get a replacement caliper, painted in green and what kind of costs are involved? Im guessing TPS would be the first choice but with the caliper being green, its not going to be cheap :(
  16. Read the manual recently and found the aircon system does indeed NOT WORK if the outside temperture is less than +5C. The light on mine does come on if you select it with position 1 but tnothing happens. Bit of a stupid system really becuase every other car I use, the aircon does operate in cold temperatures on warm setting which helps no end to defrost the car. Makes me laugh when it says in the manual that we shouldnt leave the air con unused for long periods of time, but with the recent winter, ive yet to even get the bloody thing going ever since my test drive back in October
  17. could be the rear screen bonding has failed?
  18. Just a word of caution, I found the Halfords front wipers didnt fit at all and dont tend to last all that long. Ive now opted for the Bosch OE spec ones from Eurocarparts. Cost about £12 in total
  19. Just a note, opie oils has motul 505.01 on clearance offer at the mo if anyones needing some....
  20. Check around the radiator and pipes area and see if theres any build up of crystalised coolant. failing this, its possible that your expansion tank is leaking as ive seen reports of one or two cracking or have had leaking caps.
  21. In the case of the fabia ive used a pressure bleed kit however, ive yet to come across any car that has a good service record to start with where the 2 man method has damaged any seals and the only reason for me to warrent using a pressure kit is for simplicity and convience of only needing one person to change the brake fluid and being able to monitor for any leaks on the brake system, but if it fails (which it did 10 seconds into using it) Id revert back to 2 person method as the car is an everyday car that I cant afford to have off the road.
  22. Factory fill is 40% mix but as above, do 50% mix with deionized for added protection.
  23. 1 litre will be enough to sufficiently flush and fill the system. Empty the resivoir by bleeding it off the drivers side front brake, refill resivoir and bleed accordinly. Worth asking however, are you planning on track using the car regualr to warrent DOT 5.1 fluid? If its just fast road and occasional track, you could use something like Motul RBF 660 fluid which is DOT 4 but with better boiling points.
  24. Just did mine this week, indeed the Haynes tip of opening bleed vavles when winding the rear brake piston back was the big pain in the bum as it allowed air into the system. To wind back the rear calipers, i used a pair of bent nose circlip pliers which works fine if your carefull. As for bleeding, I used a pressure bleed kit by gunson and it worked well, all be it the tyre valve connection snapping which meant i had to borrow a valve off my foot pump. Beware on the bleeding however, the bleed nipples seem to be very tight when being undone so keep the pressure of the spanner flat so as not to snap the nipple off. I bleed in this sequence 1. Rear passenger 2. Rear driver 3. Front passenger 4. Front driver.
