  1. Off to look at/drive the Mk3 tomorrow - not doing the miles and need the estate practicality so thinking of swapping the Mk2 TDi for a Mk3 Petrol. BIL having the Mk2 so no px, and have seen the reputable brokers offering ~2k off the VRS already - it may be mentioned in an earlier post but I'm too lazy to wade through 54 pages - but anyone got a decent discount direct from the dealer yet?
  2. Have you installed a Parrot kit (or similar) too? I'm having something similar with my kit at the mo, think it might be the additional wiring harness as I have fading speakers using either the iPod or headunit which sorts itself out when i increase the volume, and the wiring harness is the only common denominator - think I'll be having a look at it next weekend - getting good at taking the trim off now
  3. Great fan of the Parrot MKi9200 - especially as it also provides additional media input too - USB/ipod etc - good sound quality/mic quality Can pick the unit up for around £150 - and wiring it in is pretty straight forward (or have had quotes of £99 to do it) Was plug and play of the Fabia - need a harness for the Octavia - and an additional feed run to the fuse box Will post pics when i put mine in - hopefully next weekend now the fuse holder has been delivered If you don't need all the media stuff their more basic untits, or the Motorola ones, are really good too
  4. Thanks - thought this was a perm live, as the switched live is seemed to be already connected as part of the harness (that said as long as i get one of each the harness provides the ability to switch the connections in-line) - it's quite strange that only this one wire is left to DIY whereas all the others are nicely in the connectors Anyway will check the other two that are already wired to ensure that I end up with a perm live, switched live and an earth Understand the CANBUS issue so will run to the fuse box
  5. Thanks guys - permanent live it is then. Now in my wiring ignorance why has this been left separate - there's already a permanent live feed through to the head unit - why couldn't they have drawn off that? What could I muck up if I just used a scotch lock to splice into the live feed already supported by the harness. When installing it into the Fabia a separate feed wasn't needed.... Anyway, will order the piggyback fuse device - that's next weekend sorted then
  6. Also posted in the ICE section, but as specific to Octavia Mk2 hope you guys don't mind the double post... "OK, fitted one of these Parrot kits to the Fabia - pretty straight forward as it was plug and play into that head unit. Now fast forward to the Octavia, and needed to buy the wiring harness. All wired up (plug and play), but no power to the Parrot, even swapping the switched/permanent wiring. On closer inspection looks like the 'loose' red wire, on the additional harness, should perhaps be connected to a permanent live Anyone familiar with this - and if so where should I get the perm live from - scotch lock to the straight through red wire in the existing harness?" Thanks.....
  7. hi, interested in these, but Thule site specifies the 754 foot pack for the Octavia Mk2 - did these cause you any issues Based just outside Reading so can solve your fear of posting
  8. OK, fitted one of these Parrot kits to the Fabia - pretty straight forward as it was plug and play into that head unit. Now fast forward to the Octavia, and needed to buy the wiring harness. All wired up (plug and play), but no power to the Parrot, even swapping the switched/permanent wiring. On closer inspection looks like the 'loose' red wire, on the additional harness, should perhaps be connected to a permanent live Anyone familiar with this - and if so where should I get the perm live from - scotch lock to the straight through red wire in the existing harness? All advice gratefully received
  9. Richie, Like this - probably where I'll mount mine - is it pretty straight forward to lift the surround of the vents/storage box? Also, where did you mount the box of bits - in the Fabia I did it behind the glovebox, but reading a number of posts on here sounds like it may fit behind the a/c controls?or under the storage box? Or have I got the wrong end of the stick. Finally, where have you run the iPod connection to? Will order the bits this week so hopefully delivered when i return from this weeks travels - be able to fit it next w/e then Thanks in advance. Rich.
  10. thanks - also answers my question of 'can you run the wire out ok between the silver surround and the black stuff' - cheers - awating delivery then taking the car apart will commence
  11. OK, rather than the cost of retro fitting all the OEM gubbins I'm going to put a Parrot kit in the Octavia (Balero head unit), probably the MKi9200 again Anyone here installed anything similar? If so do you have pics of where you mounted the screen and the remote? Cheers.
  12. Sorry guys - car's sold, hopefully to a good home
  13. @mr ree - cheers matey - a VRS barn find would be nice in a few years for sure! The people last night have decided to go for a golf, someone driving down from Northampton to look at it tonight, but who knows - does look like I've pitched it right though as they are coming from far and wide @seb - you never know; with my work travel it's sometimes difficult to organise viewings (just fortunate I'm in the country this week) so it may still be about when you're ready - will keep you guys posted
  14. @sebdangerfield Selling so soon as company rules now state we must have a car that is less than 6 years old, does better than 40mpg and emits less than 200g co2/km if we take the company car allowance - if it wasn't for this I'd keep on running it as it's a great car - but as I'm one of the directors I best be seen conforming to the rules (Funnily enough it wouldn't fly when I mentioned the Porsche meets one of the rules and the Fabia the other two ) @mr ree Thanks - only advertised it 'in anger' on Thursday and then ended up being away for the weekend - doh! Have come back to a couple of emails, phone messages, and someone driving over from Crawley (60miles) to see it this afternoon. Much prefer to price sensible rather than day dream, has helped on every car I've ever sold. Agree with you about an unmolested car - no problem with folks who want to do that - but when buying want a car that I can work with rather than something someone else has done - partly my decision not to do a cheap refurb on the wheels - could perhaps of asked a little more but prefer selling an 'honest' car. I'm sure that many interested buyers would prefer to save a few quid on the purchase price and then decide themselves whether to refurb or change the alloys as taste/funds allow.
  15. Will be selling them seperately once I've had a chance to give them a good clean and take some pics Though if someone wants to make a strong offer to include them they are OEM Skoda alloys with Khuma's on them that have only seen about 3000 miles of use
