  1. I know SFA about wheel offsets etc so am seeking help. Car is 2009 Octavia estate in elegance trim. Current wheels are slightly battered 16' x 6.5 Lyras ET 50. I am looking at a set of Pallas 17 x 7 ET 54 These wheels are listed in some Skoda brochures as options but they always state with sports suspension pack (which of course, I dont have. Will they fit my car? Will the difference in ET, i.e. 54 instead of 50 make for any problem? Thanks in advance. Onyertod
  2. Black Roomster: http://www.vwwaterco...html#post551162
  3. Metallic Pearl BLACK is cool! Pics here http://www.vwwatercooled.org.au/f35/black-white-skoda-album-48456.html#post551162
  4. Looks like they have no more stock. When I bought mine I seem to remember stock was limited. This lot have them: http://www.vanstyle.co.uk/shop/index.php/cPath/2729_3662_3663_3664 cheers, Max
  5. Welcome. I envy your diesel engine. The asthmatic petrol donk is OK in city traffic but you really need to floor the pedal if you want to go up a real hill. I do hope you will keep us informed as you tweak the new Roomie.
  6. Many thanks for the info. My car is also a 2007 with a Dance audio unit. Never hear as much as a peep out of the reverse sensors so I will get the dealer to look at it. cheers, Max
  7. Hi Scottie, Sorry cant help you but maybe you can help me. My rear parking sensors dont make any sound.. The graphic appears on the radio screen but no audible warning. Where does the warning sound come from?? BTW - Where are you from in Scotland? (I grew up in Hamilton) Thanks Max
  8. Thanks to those who replied. The positive feedback prompted me to order some and my shades arrived today. Bought from http://www.motormec.co.uk/ Good product and fitted just in time for the Aussie summer heat.
  9. Congrats on your new car. After 3 months and 3,000 miles I like Roomster more than I ever thought I would. They are just such a practical vehicle. And the roof rails come in handy when you need something to grab on to step up onto the back wheel to wash the roof! : - )
  10. Hi Branners, I got the same deal as you and now with 3,000k on my auto Roomster it's returning 7.7 l/100 klms which is exactly what the book says I should expect. All on 95 RON fuel which is what is required according to p230 in the manual and the inside of the filler flap. No mention of 98. Cheers, Max.
  11. Perhaps not a classic, my prediction is that the Roomster will hold its value on the second hand market, (at least here in Australia) because owners will hold onto them. It is one of those cars which will be spoken about in years to come with much fondness: Sometime in 2050: " Roomster? My Grandad had one of those. I used to borrow it. If you took out the seats it was amazing what you could get up to in the back of one. He had it for years and would not part with it, even after they took his licence off him! ." : - ) Roomsters are like your first microwave oven. You have to own one to realise how useful they are.
  12. Snap -- except no roof rails, I passed on a black one (anthracite grey) and I have to get Vic rego. When I told my bruvver, he of the Octavia TSI, the price, his jaw hit the deck and he asked if there were any left. His daughter wants a car, and he would prefer one with Stability and Traction control, ABS, six bags and 5 Star ANCAP. She missed out but I am grinning like a sheep. Great car, fantastic deal. Congrats on being one of the lucky few! They look good in grey. Enjoy it. We also have an Octavia, which is my missus's daily drive. Both Skoda so both quality, but two very different vehicles. Although the deal is finished there are still Roomsters for sale in Australia, demos and second hand at very good prices. I mean $17k is just silly cheap. Having now put 2,000 klms on mine I would recommend the car to anyone looking. And I would happily have paid a lot more than I did for mine..
  13. Sure did get the runout deal. Pearl black, 1.6l, tiptronic auto box, parking sensors, wind deflectors on 4 windows, rear parking sensors, roof rails, roomster carpet mats, rubber boot mat, 3 nets. 6 months on roads. $17K AUD. Sale of the century! I am still laughing. See it here. http://www.vwwatercooled.org.au/f35/black-white-skoda-album-48456.html And regarding the interior bike rack, the Roomster has lots of tie down points so I have gone for the elastic solution, i.e. ten bucks worth of elastic occy straps. Bikes are secure as! Even with two bikes in the back I sill got two outer seats, (folded forward) in the car. Max
  14. Thanks. That makes sense. Unlike not including the triangle when you have already gone to the trouble of manufacturing and supplying a device to retain it
  15. Hi Folks, Had the Roomster just three weeks now and have put 1,000 miles / 1600 klms miles on it so its run in. I am really enjoying this versatile and practical beast. This weekend i will be loading it with two mountain bikes. I looked at the interior bike rack and while I am sure it is good gear, here in Australia Skoda want over $750 AUD for it. That's about 440 pounds sterling! So I have gone looking at other ways to secure the bikes upright in the Roomster. Whilst looking for tie down points I came across two straps with buckles which are just inside the lip of the boot.. They correspond with two arrow marks which are either side of the boot catch. Anyone know what they are for? cheers, Max.
  16. Still getting to know my new to me 2007 build Roomster. I prolly missed the bit, but I have read the book and cant find out if I can dim or brighten the dash lighting. Is it dead obvious?
  17. Anyone recommend these UV shades from vanstyle aka palmautomotive? Am thinking of ordering a set.
  18. Thanks Moley. What you say makes sense. Will have a good look on the weekend.
  19. Here in Australia Skoda are running out old stock of Roomsters. I bought a black one - company for the Octy which the missus drives. Car is 2007 build but is not used. It came with some nice surprises including rear parking sensors. I am very happy with the Roomster so far. As you reverse the car, if you approach an obstacle, a graphic appears on the radio screen showing you a basic readout of info which is coming from the sensors. This indicates to me that the sensors are working. But there is no audible signal and I cant find any setting for the (Dance?) ICE unit where you can control the warning signal. Can anyone help? I know the dealer will fix it under the guarantee but the dealer is a two hour drive away on the north side of Sydney Harbour and I was not planning on going back before the first service. cheers, Max.
  20. I would love to see this video but it seems to be missing from the topgear website. Can anyone tell me what series and episode number it was in?
  21. With only 300 miles up I suspect the engine has yet to loosen up. The book says to go easy for the first 1000 miles or so. Then you can give it some to see if the Ooomph improves! I am really enjoying my 1.8 TSI / DSG wagon now that it has over 3000miles up. But then I dont really push it much. I have a motorcycle for when I feel the need...
  22. Hi from Sydney Australia. Got the estate 1.8tsi with the 7 speed DSG 5,000 klms, 2 months, 7 litres / 100klms. Engine and DSG box are a great combination. The car has plenty go. Sure the vrs has more but the 1.8 has more than I can use on public roads while still keeping my licence.
  23. Maybe if you can drive like late great Colin McRae then there would be times when you would want ESP off, but for the rest of us it should prolly be on. In fact the Aussie dealer who sold me my FL Octavia told me that ESP was now so good that for MY 2010 Skoda was going to remove the option to switch it off. The Skoda Australia youtube channel has a vid which shows how good it works.
