  1. Hi, I was getting tired of my blues radio, so I started to look at what I could install instead. The original units are to expensive for my taste. I then looked at china android "will fit right in" radios, but I did´nt trust them to work or their build quality. The pioneer unit that will fit right in is also a bit pricy I think. So I started lookking for a Fascia kit. Not easy to find, connects2 makes one, but it includes buttons on the sides, which I decided I don´t need, and it is a bit pricy. The blues radio does not control alot, and the clock can still be set with the reset button. And some of it can be controlled through VCDS. But then I found CARAV that makes a kit with a basic frame and then a frame that fits the octavia MK3. http://carav-parts.com/index.php?option=com_virtuemart&page=shop.browse&category_id=98&category_id2=653&year=2014&Itemid=58 Part no 11-462, that should fit in. Well it looks good and fits, but I had to make my own mount with two pieces of 5mm think metal, so I would be able to bolt the basic frame to the car. Also because I did not wan´t to cut or drill in the dash. With the frame mounted I could install a standard double DIN radio, I bought wiring loom that goes from quadlock to iso and an antenna adapter thats goes from the two plugs in the car to a standard antenna plug. The wiring loom I got at the store where I bought the radio, cost about 15 euro, and the antenna adaptor from CARAV, though ebay, where I also bougth the frame for the radio. The radio I installed is a Macrom M-DL5000 with navigation included. It was a very tight fit because of the depth of the radio, so if you do this, be sure to measure before you buy There is about 150mm of depth, but remember room for the wires out the back of the radio. I only (so far) have the original speakers in front, but what an improvement! Much better sound. I have attached pictures of the installation. Thought someone else could use this. Regards Thomas
  2. I can´t remember the number, it is simply new pins with cable, that can be used to repair damaged wires. I just asked the dealer and they got them for me. Thomas
  3. I needed to install speakers in the rear doors, because, when I ordered the car a year ago, I was not aware that is was not standard, and the dealer did´nt tell me, even though we have kids on the rear seat. Well **** happens, but I really missed those speakers. After some googling I found out that you can buy replacement pins for the multiplugs that connects the doors wiringloom to the B-pillars plug. Those pins comes with wire on, so you can solder on som cables, but don´t have to crimp the small pins on a cable. So I got those, and with help for a car electric tech guy We use at the company, We removed the door cards, and the speakers are standard 6,5" We then installed the pins in the original multiplug and connected it to the radio with the pins that fits in the multiplug there. The rear speaker output on the headunit was active, we tested that before anything else :-) Now the sound is much better, and we don´t have to turn it up to loud for the kids to hear :-) No new holes was drilled, and the original wiringloom in the car is untouched. I thought this could be helpfull to others :-) Video of door card removal: The duct tape is not orginal Skoda :-) it was just there to hold the speakerhole cover in place, after We had removed it to see speakersize the first time :-) I have attached a picture of the pins I got from Skoda. Regards Thomas
  4. I had the battery checked, and it showed no error, however, the VAG COM showed some errors related to the battery. So I changed the battery and no errors since then. Regards Thomas
  5. Hello again, there were no problems with the fuses. But the central locking system is also acting weird. It will not always close at the first time, but I can get locked by pushing a couple of times. Like it does not have the power to lock it the first time. I am still thinking about the battery, I have never had these problems and I have driven the car for 30000km, it has now turned 90000km. I am driven 100km each day. But the last 14 days I have been on vacation, and have rarely used the car, so I am thinking the battery have not been charged well enough, and when it is almost 4 years old.... I will see if I can get the battery checked before spending money on a new one. Regards Thomas
  6. Thank you for answers. I will check the fuses tomorrow, the connections to battery are ok. I am considering the battery itself. The car is about 3,5 years old, so maybee it is time for a new battery.... Regards Thomas
  7. Hello, the last two days I have experienced that when I stop the car, the cabinlight does not come on, and if I turn the key not ligts comes up on the display. But I can start the car. Then the ligths come on the display, but the clock is reset til 00:00. The radio behaves like is has been disconnected, comes up with the "SAFE" message. Like the battery has been disconnected. It does not happen every time. Any ideas ? regards Thomas
  8. hello, got a 2007 fabia last week and it has a rattle like this. Not when driven strait, but when turned or when there is some bumps on the road. Does anyone have a picture of where to apply the fix ? regards Thomas Never mind, I found out the noise came from the engine bonnet, where the to small rubbers needed some grease, then it all got quiet :-)
