  1. I used my brolly this morning, still got a bit wet even though the steering wheel is on the wrong (left) side..... 2 seconds as opposed to 5 seconds once you get out of the car isn't really making much difference! Not sure what the first aid kit rules are in the UK, but here in CZ it needs to be replaced each year, it's the law....
  2. What's the difference in performance then? The Czech Police here in Prague use an R36 on the main motorways.... I was wondering if the performance was much different, as the CZ Police normally go local in their choice of cars....
  3. Oops! Yes, it is the 170bhp engine, I got confused with kw/ps/bhp mix... :-(
  4. Out of interest, I just checked the stats on my 125Kw 2009 Superb Elegance 2.0 TDI Auto, and it says 0-100 in 10.2 and top speed of 205kmh, but when I've had it on the autobahn, I've easily reached 220kmh! The speedo can't be that far out, surely?
  5. I've got a pair of these in mine; http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/L0201M-2x-7-Car-Headrest-DVD-Game-FM-IR-Player-USB-SD-/110574712668?pt=UK_Audio_TV_Electronics_In_Car_Entertainment_GPS_In_Car_Audio_Players_PP&hash=item19bec4375c Cost 130 GBP and came with wireless headphones, wireless game controllers and remote controls. The actual dvd players are Sony, and great quality picture and sound. They were relatively easy to fit, and routing the wires through the seat was a doddle, just needed a thin pole to attache the wires to, and route them through. The only thing I found was the actual headrest stems, whilst adjustable, were about a millimeter less in diameter than the recess hole in the seat, so on bumpy rides had a tendency to rattle a bit. That was temporarily solved by wedging a bit of material under the headrest, and more permanently by getting a local machine shop to make some sleeeves.... The only downside for me is that the headrests are leather, whilst I have cloth seats, but it doesn't really ahow that much, as the leather is somewhat matt in appearance....
  6. Nice one, enjoyed reading that post, makes me think again why I left the UK.....
  7. I often go from D to N inadvertently when driving, all that happens is a serious increase in revs due to my foot being heavy....
  8. Well, there are loads of them where I live....... but as this is the Czech Republic, that's to be expected!
  9. Mine doesn't fit 3 child seats in, which is a shame, although the Wife's Picasso does.....
  10. My Elegance does indeed have the adaptive lights, a great feature which allowed me to drive across to the UK a few months back, and it also has the kmh/mph change feature, you can change the digital readout to read in either. Regarding the variance in revs through gear change, the auto box 'adapts' to your driving style, if you drive moderately on one trip it will change gears lower down the rev range. If you take it out the next day and drive hard, it will adapt to the driving style and change gears higher up the range.
  11. Well, it only occurs at 2000 revs, and is a tad annoying if I'm in traffic (I have the auto DSG, on the Tdi). I should add that I am a perfectionist, so what is annoying to me may not be heard by others.... I don't know what piece of plastic was loose the frist time round (I didn't bother asking the garage as I didn't think it would come back), but I know they definitely told my fleet manager it was a 'loose bit of plastic'...... I will ask my FM to contact the garage and see if they can point us in the right direction.
  12. Just wondering, at low revs the engine bay 'growls' slightly, nothing much, just annoying. I was told that it is something plastic working itself loose in the engine bay (by Skoda here in CZ) and they fixed it a while back, but perhaps my imagination is working overtime, but I think it is back......
  13. I dunno, I think the Passat CC is a beautiful piece of work, and if I could have one, I would......
  14. Expat in the Czech Republic

  15. That's my one fault, I'm a 'superb' driver, but often forget to check whether anyone is foolish enough to be faster than me, before i overtake.... one day that will bite me in the a**
  16. I can't understand why no-one has pointed out the parking assistance! It works well, but I've only used it once (to show someone who didn't believe me that it did it). TBH, I normally just drive straight into a slot (parallel) as I don't see the need to drive past an available slot so that the onboard computer can map out its path, and here in Prague, if you drive past a slot, then the git behind will normally nick it while you wait for the parking system to tell you that its ready....
  17. It does take some time to react to headlights in the rear vision, and isn't that great at daylight change over neither, but if you do a lot of night driving, I would recommend it.
  18. Yep, happened to me too, and definitely because of the snow it was whacking down on, changed the sweep arc of the wipers... it was fixed under warranty here in Prague.....
  19. Yep, storm blue is a lovely colour, very classy. For me, silver talks to being a rep, and black (here in the Czech Republic anyway) a politician.... I have plain black interior, as I have two small kids, otherwise Ivory would have been the preferred option... :'(
  20. Sorry Bryan, were you responding to my post? If so, I was refering to aftermarket Headrest DVD Players, with optional tuner..... from eBay.
  21. I bought two headrests from eBay with built-in Sony DVD Players in each, with wireless headphones and games controllers, for 170 GBP. Had them fitted a month ago, and they are great! I do recall that the TV Tuner was optional, but didn't take it, as I couldn't (then) afford the extra 40 Quid.... :S If anyone is interested, I can post some pics, or provide the link to the seller.... Sorry, forgot to add that I am a Brit based in the Czech Republic....
  22. I've got Michelin 225 45 R17 Winter tyres on my 2 litre TDi, and have to say that we have a bit more snow here in the Czech Republic, and the car deals superbly with the conditions. The only slight issue I have is that it is fun steering down my street in the tram lines....
