  1. I've used a guy called Craig from Camelectric in Huddersfield to fault find on my Parrot kit - not the same product I know, but he was one of those guys that just seems right on top of their job in terms of skills and knowledge. I was impressed with the service. Check out his website http://www.camelectric.com/ and give him a call if you're interested and I'm sure he will be honest on whether it is something he can do. Depending on where you are in Manchester, it could be that he could make it to you, or at least it would be a shorter trip.
  2. Mine has about 30,000 on the clock and I look for 500 miles per tank but don't always get it. On my usual commute of 1 mile local roads either side of a 30 mile motorway journey I get about 48 mpg on average, and if this is all I do, I get the 500 miles out. If I do more round town driving it drops off a bit, but not too badly. It takes a bad journey (or a really good one!) to get it below 40mpg.
  3. Most of my driving is a long motorway commute, on which I get about 51 - 53 mpg. Try as I might, I can't get it to deliver less than 40 mpg even when being...er...enthusiastic.
  4. Very similar to my experience - I'm up to about 5500 and only a couple of mm from the wear indicators - I'll be lucky to see 7500 at this rate. Most of my driving is motorway, with an occasional burst of enthusiasm, so I'm not sure if consistent 70 mph (ish) driving results in more wear, but this is really poor. I used to have Pirellis on my previous car (A3 2.0 TDI sport), which you would think as a similar spec VAG group car would ride like the Vrs, and I routinely got 20k from them, so I won't be putting the Dunlops on come change time. I have heard good things about Michelin life, so I might give them a try. Has anyone got poor wear issues with other brands? Just wondering if it may be an issue with tracking or setup.
  5. I drive my Black Magic FL vRS hatch from Leeds to Manchester and back most days, so should be easily seen on the M62 given that the average speed is around 50mph or less (much less on the M60), and now I've got it run in should be seen hooning around Leeds on a weekend. Seen a few non-vRS FL Octys, but no other vRSs as yet. For those guys waiting, mine took 16 weeks from order to collection, and it seemed like an age, but I've pretty much forgotten about it now, as will you when you get your hands on yours. Cheers. TC
  6. Hi Riggs. I'm a newbie too. I went for the DSG and after a month of use I think it's great - a much more relaxed style of driving if you want it to be, or you can play at F1 with the paddles. I do a lot of motorway travel, so stop/start traffic is inevitable and DSG is a real boon in those conditions. I thought about leather but decided I liked the standard seats enough to get by. One thing I miss from my old A3 is the autodimming mirror - I'm kicking myself a bit for not having ordered that for the relatively low option cost that it represents. I hope this helps, and whichever route you choose I'm sure you'll enjoy what is a cracking car. Cheers. TC
  7. Got mine 3 weeks ago and it has a charcoal grey headlining - some might say black, but pedantry is in the eye of the beholder.
  8. Sounds like the DMF to me - had just the same thing on my old A3 (about 2 months before part exing against my Vrs - Grrrrr), and from first noticing the clunks I reckon I got about 1200 miles - but I would say get it seen to before it goes, as when mine went I got stranded at a busy intersection and it is fair to say that my fellow road users were not very understanding, which cheered me up no end in addition to the 2 hour wait for the RAC and the £900 bill. Hope it works out OK for you. TC
  9. Well, I know I'm not a terrorist, so.... :S
  10. Pretty similar timing to PowerMalc - I ordered my Vrs on 30 September and I'm due to pick it up next Wednesday (20th), so it will have been 16 weeks and has felt longer. From other responses on the long delivery thread mentioned above, my guess is that a spike of orders occurred in September once people heard about the price increase on 1 October, and this led to long order times, but things seem to be returning to a previous level of about 12 weeks now. I'm pretty sure the wait will be worth it.
