  1. As well as the top or bottom first debate there seems to be mixed answers on whether to foam a dry car or rinse first. What are peoples views on this?
  2. After three great years of ownership (and 6 weeks of messing about waiting for VWFS to remove my personal plate) my Superb was collected by BCA yesterday. I'm told its headed off to their auction in Brighouse, so if anyone is looking for a 3 years old / 55k miles Skoda Superb 2.0 TDi 190 Sportline Hatch DSG Auto 5dr then have a look. Driven sensibly (at least most of the time) and regularly detailed by me, I'd say this is one of the best out there for its age and mileage. Could be a bargain if anyone on here is currently looking.
  3. Thanks everyone for the advice. With regard to engine choice I do 15-20K miles per year so need to stay with diesel really. Its a lease deal so at least I won't need to worry about residuals if the government make changes that destroy the used values of diesel vehicles. For options.... Rear wipe - agree its needed so its on the list Traffic sign assist - was on my list and certainly if it opens up other possibilities I think I will go for it. Temp spare wheel - can I buy a temp spare wheel from the dealer at the same price as speccing it as an option? At least then its mine and I can sell it on at the end of the three years. Front parking sensors - would love them but I nearly always reverse park. £10 a month just to save me getting out and having a look occasionally is harder to justify. Finally I think the colour is going to be Quartz Grey metallic. Would love Dragon Green but its in lieu of a company car so don't think I can get away with it.
  4. Hi all, I'm just about to go ahead and order a Superb Sportline 2.0TDi 190PS DSG Hatch. It will be on a PCH deal so I'm trying to avoid additional options as they get expensive (in effect they need to be paid for over the period of the lease) but would welcome any thoughts on must-haves, or low cost items that will allow additional functionality via VCDS etc. I think I will go for the rear wiper (no cost option) but should anything else should be on my shopping list?
  5. I have some diamond cut alloys on my Octy vRS that will need a bit of improvement before my PCH lease car goes back if I am to avoid charges. Do any of the Smart repair type places offer a quick fix for this sort of wheel, or am I looking at some big bills to get them sorted?
  6. I think your efforts to save water should be commended Sarah - well done!!
  7. Dave the dog has been mentioned. Did he have a Colin the cat as well, or have I dreamt that one?
  8. Very sad news - a true Briskoda legend. Graham helped me plan and lead the driving route when I organised the first Burrs Camping meet (back in 2006 I think). The stop off point on this was the Turnpike Inn (overlooking the dam near Ripponden) and from there we started the monthly Lancs / Yorks meet which later moved to the The Malt House just down the road in Rishworth. Great memories and as others have said he was anything but grumpy once you got to know him. He wasn't backward at saying what he thought though, and I seem to remember him getting a Brisky ban on more than one occasion. Condolences to the WO and the HC (as he fondly called them). RIP Graham
  9. Hi all, Apologies if this has been answered before - I did try a quick search but couldn't find anything. I need to replace the rear light on my 15 plate Octy III vRS hatch. The dealer has quoted £138, but I've seen them at Euro Car Parts for £88.99 http://www.eurocarparts.com/ecp/c/Skoda_Octavia_2.0_2015/p/car-parts/lighting1/car-electrics-and-car-lighting/rear-light/?478783450&1&5a26cc43f3c5369865245f5f941bedd3c7f1dc8a&000269 Is there much difference? Should I pay the extra and go to the dealer, or will the cheaper ones be near enough the same? Thanks in advance, Andy
  10. Managed to get a sneak preview of mine while I was there...
  11. Sorry Steveo - only just seen this but it sounds like you are sorted. I have been dealing with Denis and he has been fantastic throughout. I called on to see him at the fleet centre in Bamber Bridge yesterday as we had agreed they would see if they were interested in my existing Merc C220 C Class Estate as a part ex. I also used it as an opportunity to sort the paperwork out. Purely by chance he said they had had around 30 cars arrive from Grimsby earlier in the day so it sounds like yours was one of those.
  12. Any thoughts on how the metal grey colour looks in between washes? My previous Octy was black and looked amazing when cleaned but it didn't last long. From my experience silver cars are the best at not showing the muck. In this respect is Metal Grey more like silver or more like black?
  13. I was told its possible and as a rule of thumb each £100 of extra adds £4 per month to the price
  14. Afternoon all - I've not been around for a while but may be returning to the Skoda fold, having just seen this offer at Simpsons Skoda which ends tomorrow.... http://www.simpsonsskoda.co.uk/new-car-offers/octavia-vrs-pch/ I'm happy that PCH would suit my circumstances, and the PCP on my current Merc C220 C Class Estate ends on 30th June so it should tie in nicely with a quoted 12 week delivery on this. I may add DSG and increase the mileage, but what are your thought on the base deal? I can probably live without leather now the kids are older (and in theory less messy) and I believe Sat Nav may get specified automatically. Any other options I should seriously consider? Your comments would be welcome - I've only just seen this and need to make a decision tonight! PS Apologies if this is posted elsewhere - I did do a quick search first!
  15. Replied with the link which gives more details of my Connects2 iPod adaptor install.... http://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/120399-connects2-ipod-adaptor-for-fabia-vrs-pics/page__hl__+connects2#entry1711071
  16. Hmmm - other than buy an estate I'm not sure what else to suggest. I very much doubt that rails could be fitted to a standard hatch - its just not designed for them.
  17. Estate cars come with longitudinal rails that you can attach cross bars to, but on a standard hatch you need roof bars and the right foot pack which is specially designed to suit the fixing point on the Fabia. If you look at the black strip that runs front to back along the edge of the roof you can see a section that slides back to reveal the attachment point - one over each door
  18. These are original Skoda ones - is that what you can get for £60? I appreciate style is important, but roof bars are one thing I wouldn't cut corners on IMHO. OEM or Thule for me
  19. I've only got them with a roof box on as well.... And to show how much a Fabia can hold.....
  20. It's about 6 years since I sold the Felicia but here's a picture showing the front wheel with the centre cap on in case that helps....
  21. Can you try again please - I've not received a PM from you. Cheers Andy
  22. Thread updated to show sold items. Price drops on some of the other items.
  23. I've also had a PM from another member about the alloys (asking about price and weight) so I'll give you the same info I sent to him.... The wheels weight around 9.3 kg each on their own. By the time I've added centre caps and bolts and packaging it will be around 10-11kg each as a delivery weight. Cost new with Skoda centre badges was around £400. They haven't had much use and there is no kerbing or marks so I feel £250 is a good price. If you can let me know your postcode my other half might be able to get a good delivery price through the couriers they use where she works. I'll get back to you when I know where they are going.
