  1. Update... everything is sorted. The Golf was a total loss 😥 and then spent 2 weeks negotiating with the insurance company about the payout. Ended up getting back what I paid for it minus my excess. I'm sure it will be back on the road in a few months! As for the number plate Copart called me and asked if I wanted it, which I did so again simply hop onto DVLA and take it off then send paper work to Copart. Just picked up the new motor...moved to the dark side...a 19-plate BMW 430i Grand Coupe M Sport with 19" M Star spoke alloy wheels 403M and rear sun set glass oh and in Estoril Blue. Lovely car so far! thanks everyone for the advice!! Dave
  2. Hey all, Not really Skoda related more general query... So unfortunately I was involved in an accident on Saturday in my mk7.5 Golf GTi where we had a front drivers side to front drivers side collision (I was only doing 20-25 mph) 😪 all air bags deployed (dash, wheel, footwell, curtain etc...) Fire service also cut the key blade off the key as it was stuck in the barrel! Fairly sure it will be written off? But main question, I have a private plate on it..should I be removing it now or when the claims department contact me? (Registered accident but it's a bank holiday so they were closed) First accident in 15 years of driving so not really sure on the overall process and timescales! If it is written off I may well be back on here with an Octaiva or Superb! We shall see! Any help or words of wisdom welcomed! Cheers. Dave
  3. Hey, I sold it now but this was it when it was fitted... Though I'm back in VAG now with a Golf GTI 😬 Cheers, Dave
  4. I had a similar issue, open the glove box and I would get a warning the boot was open. This turned out to be an issue with led I had put in the glove box. Switched that over and it was fine?!
  5. Well I thought I would update... I swapped, in the end I sold the vRS for £14500 to we buy any car and got the Mercedes off my Dad for £13500... the Mercedes had only done 24k as well...few pics below...I will still be around though! I know the wheels look a little pants so I managed to grab these OEM 18" staggered Alloys for £400 which will be going on when the weather improves! As for speed, 0-60 near enough the same as the vRS but It in no way has a sporty feel, but it is very smooth and a lovely drive! Plus at the moment with the crappy tyres it does enjoy spinning up the rears without mush bother lol
  6. Great, thank you all for your responses! I have booked in with them to collect some wheels from Northamptonshire and deliver them to me in Gloucester on Tuesday! Fingers crossed it all goes without a hitch! and if it does it will be £40 well spent
  7. Thanks - That is the company I found to. I think I will give them a try! (best buy their insurance too i guess)
  8. Hey, I'm looking to buy some alloys off eBay and was wondering if anyone here had any recommendations on good/reliable couriers? Cheers, Dave
  9. Luckily no (or not that I can see) it was removed once the finance was cleared. my credit rating was effected for about a month then returned to what it was previously...
  10. The exact same thing happened to me when I traded my Fabia in. The Skoda dealer forgot to pay the car off... Little worse for me as I canceled the direct debit so I technically defaulted ..... Got a free service as a sorry lol
  11. First thing I would do though is swap the alloys to something like these.... https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.co.uk%2Fulk%2Fitm%2F283223668595 Or something else OEM style. Which would make it look much better!
  12. I know what you mean about the inside, but that doesn't bother me pertically much. The boot is a little bit of an issue as the dog won't be able to go in anymore but that just means she will have to sit inside somewhere... Indeed I'm more looking to the future and the Merc might be a better bet for resale/value!?
  13. Thanks for your comments, yes both cars are within £100 of each other on trade in values at the moment! Indeed the running costs will be slightly more but that's not really a problem. Indeed, my Dad has lost quite a bit on it has he got it from new! But he isn't bothered if I have it or not lol As you say It will be interesting to see what I think after a few days!
  14. It's a nice spec but I would be changing the wheels asap! And maybe black out the chrome bits! When I have been in it I haven't noticed it being anymore noicey than the Octavia, TBH I have always thought the vRS was quite rough! All fair points! I think I will borrow it for a few days and see how it goes!
