  1. Well, to tell you the truth, your car has been a great inspiration
  2. "not the best" meaning i've heard better sounding 1.8T's, but i love it nonetheless, and definitely an improvement over stock. And here are a couple of pictures with the custom front grill on the car:
  3. Yes, OTT, but it is ok on a show car It is definitely a wrap, the car used to be red. It has certain fluorescent accents:
  4. Maybe some of you know this car. It is not mine but i like it a lot. The car is wrapped and it sits on 8.5x20 ET 45 alloys. Something different for a change:
  5. Cool, I can't wait to install my fmic which is about the same size, and of course, the mandatory remap after that In the meantime, my custom debadged, milotec looking, front grill arrived. I am very happy with the result.
  6. I also found that spring laying in the footwell about 6 months ago. I didn't find any changes to the seat since it fell. However, for 3 months now, it developed a squeaky sound.. don't know if it is related, but it is annoying.
  7. Finally i managed to install my custom decat downpipe and a custom non-resonated catback. I still have the original backbox. Inside the car it is unbelievably quiet. i was expecting much more noise. From the outside, not the best sound, but that is not a big surprise. Enjoy:
  8. Been thinking of doing this for a long time. Lately, the paint lacquer started peeling off the rear spoiler and the skoda emblem looks like #%&$, so i repainted the boot lid and rear spoiler and i removed the emblem. Love the new clean look. before: after: No pics with the number plate on, but you get the point.
  9. I'm your #1 fan Always loved the look of a stripped out track car for daily use and was planing on doing mine. But in the end, i went down the sensible route and kept it as a normal daily car and bought a 1990 BMW E30 which will have to "suffer" just like yours I have the exact same steering wheel for my bmw. Now, every time i see your car, i think of how mine might have looked. Love the bonnet with the vents and everything! One thing i would suggest, you could cut the rear bumper and integrate the diffuser in the bumper, rather than beneath it. Something along the lines of this CLICK. I think it would look better. Anyway, good luck with the project!
  10. You can just pull off the side strips and then use a heat gun and thinner for the glue left on the car... ooh and a lot of rubbing That's how i did it, but probably, using a heat gun before, could help..
  11. Yes, nothing special about the paint. I did mine more than 2 years ago and it still looks good.
  12. I changed the cambelt and water pump for the first time since i bought it in september 2009. Also, i changed the cabin air filter which was quite dirty after about 8k miles. And i changed the looks of the car a bit: i used black plasti dip for the roof of the car, mirrors and for the exhaust tip. I think it looks good with the anthracite wheels.
  13. At 1), definitely change the thermostat, i had the same problem, and when the car is not warmed up, the ecu doesn't let the car make full boost. After you change it, you will see a improvement in power. And, of course, after you resolve the "boost pressure drop..." also.
  14. My new setup: Team Dynamics Pro Race 1.2 7.5Jx17'' ET35 with 225/45-17 GY Eagle F1 Asymmetric2
  15. I recommend the following, standard rears and for the fronts: OE disks + DS2500 or Brembo Max Disks + DS2500 or ATE Power Disk + ATE Ceramic pads. I am not saying Pagid or Mintex don't work, but, DO NOT USE EBC ! As for the brake fluid, definitely change. I upgraded to Motul RBF 600, you can also use Castrol SRF, or ATE Super blue. They are DOT4 but with a much higher boiling point. You need less than 1L of fluid if the change is done correctly. You can use any combinations of disk+pad, but if you thrash it a bit and your fluid is boiled, your brakes will not work.
  16. Small misunderstanding, i own the old model, my mate has the new vRS. Both cars are stock, power wise. He is waiting for Revo or Superchips for a remap
  17. Yeah, it is private, near an abandoned wharehouse, but it is only about 1/5 mile long, so, not really suited for drag-race. Mostly bmws use it for burnouts and spins My car is stock. We did try on a different road and if i get off the line perfect and he does not use launch control, i start with a half a car in front, but by the end of 2nd gear he already passes me and from 3rd and on he leaves me behind good.
  18. I didn't see any silver arrows , so i thought i post a couple of pics of my mates car, as he is not a member here. TSI+DSG: first day winter mode with Audi A8 18in wheels and comparing new with old
  19. @andy68: they have a little under 7.9kg each, but i must say that i didn't use a verry accurate scale... But as far as i know, these are advertised to have 7.9kg. So i am happy.
  20. If you wait another 2 months, i will put mine on ) Anthracite 7.5x17 ET35:
  21. @meaty101: where can i find center wheel caps like yours? Thanx
  22. Some very nice examples on here. I am also thinking of a big mouth bumper and i will decide in the spring after FMIC installation. Anyway, here is my baby:
  23. I live in a town with about 150.000 people and from 2005 a yellow vRS was my favorite car:). There was a black one for a couple of years but it was sold. So, from 2009, when i bought mine, there are only 2, my silver and the yellow one. So pretty rare, but, there are a lot(15-20) Octavia mk1 with the vrs kit, front bumper and rear wing, including wheels.. I will probably keep it forever as it's not worth selling with all the parts that went in it..
  24. Gleemin & smokeygoose ,congratulations ! 4 pictures are not enough... Could you please post more pictures, opinions, etc? My friend is getting ready to order one and he would love some first impressions... And lots of pics! :p
