For sale on a V750 Certificate of Entitlement aka a retention certificate (please note that this is due for renewal 3rd July 2013 but if anyone is interested in purchasing I will renew and pay the renewal fee to extend it until 2014, so there is no need to panic!) I've seen some really silly convaluted Skoda related number plates on the web but this looks like the real deal. This plate has never been on a car, but for fun I had a show plate (i.e. illegal for highway use) made up and this can be seen in the attached photos. I even blu-tacked it to the front of a vRS for effect which you can see. Clearly if you do buy this for a car, please bear in mind the spacing needs to be legal and the plate made up in an authorised retailer. Type Skoda into most search engines and the top choice is Skoda UK. I think the name of the rally arm on Twitter etc is Skoda UK so this would look pretty good on a race or rally replica or even a team transporter. I know I'm droning on a bit here but please check the DVLA rules yourself before you buy but I think the situation is that you can make a car look older than it actually is, not newer. So it could go on a car registered in 2012 for example, but not one registered in 2005. If it doesn't sell on here I'll be putting it on eBay as soon as the renewed V750 comes through but wanted to let Skoda enthusiasts have the first opportunity. So after all the waffle how much is it? Yours for £1995. No offers please as I'll chance my arm on eBay if it don't sell on here. Obviously the funds will need to clear before I send the document off, whatever you choose to pay by. Hi What seemed like a nice idea at the time i.e cream coloured seats which gave the car a roomy (no pun intended) feel, with hindsight it was a bit of a mistake with two young kids and a dog! Is anyone aware of any decent looking seat covers that fit the Roomster - ideally to fit each rear seat individually as we often remove one to get a wheelchair in the boot as well as the dog. Any help gratefully received

Hey that's great. Thanks for taking the time to respond. I did do a check for a thread first, honest! I think I'm going so say that I'll only buy the car if they throw them in. I agree the load space is superb (no pun intended) but there are 4 of us, a big black labrador and a wheelchair plus whatever camping/holiday gear we are lugging around, so the flexibility to throw a box on for the bulky light stuff like sleeping bags would be good. I take it everyone likes the Roomster?

Am considering used Roomster and found a nice suitable example but unfortunately there are no roof rails fitted. The brochure says £103 and contact your dealer for fitting. They've quote £168 plus VAT just for the fitting as apparently they have to take the roof lining etc out. Has anyone tried to do this themselves or have any advice on the topic? Many thanks

Thanks again for great feedback and comments. One or two people (and the garage itself) have mentioned that they're charging that price because they don't sell much of it - but surely they won't sell much of it at that price if they displayed it clearly? When petrol prices were sky high a while ago, I accepted that because that was the rate and everyone was in the same boat, as it were, but I'm just annoyed by the fact I paid 20% over the odds in these circumstances. Thanks for all the feedback. I went into the garage this morning and confronted them and they confirmed that 115.9p is the price they charge. As Wardy says, their excuse was that they hardly sell any of the Ultimate - hence the price. I asked for the phone number of the head office and rang up the customer relations unit. Although they are a franchised dealer ( and yes Mannyo, you're right, the fuel company have no control over what these people charge ) she got them on the phone whilst i was on the line and they confirmed to her thats the price at their station. The customer services person confirmed that yesterday the average price for Ultimate countrywide was 97.9p so the tankful cost me a tenner too much. The fact the "dials" on the pump show the correct price is all that matters legally. If this guy hadn't have come across i'd have been watching the dials and would have seen the price and just put enough in to get me to the next place. I've told them to try and get the CCTV footage. As i said at the start I wasn't sure the thing was a scam but what they and the fuel company have confirmed is that I ended up paying almost 20p a litre too much and the rest is pure speculation. Their normal unleaded is very cheap and right at the bottom of the "lowest price in this area" scale so it shows they can sell cheap fuel if they like. I've got their franchise address but I think i'll just drop it now - it's hardly worth the effort for a tenner

Thanks Burnsey thats a really useful site. Searching by postcode it says the highest price for super plus unleaded in that area is 103.9p average 96.9p and lowest 91.9p so i've definitely been "had". I'm going straight to the fuel company. Thanks again for your help

Like all the best scams I'm not sure if it was or wasn't! I needed fuel and pulled into a filling station I've never used before - the roadside board showed unleaded c 90p. I pulled up to a 97 octane pump but there were no prices on the pump handles. I noticed a guy leaning on the kiosk wall staring in my direction and he comes walking over quite briskly. "Hi mate, how do you find the vRS? I work here and I see these coming in from time to time and really fancy one" , blah blah blah. So I pick up the pump and start to fill up whilst having a natter about how good the RS is. So he says I'll leave you to it and i put the pump back in to see that it's 115.9p a litre! Usually it's I think less than 10p a litre different. Clearly I couldn't say anything in the kiosk because thats whats on the pump underneath the number of litres dispensed and the price. I'm going to contact the fuel company (no phone no on website, tho) and trading standards but I'm sure theres something odd going on here. In 30 years I've never been approached in this way by a filling station employee - never mind with such amazing timing. I think I paid far too much for that tank full - easy money. I guess they know which cars used super plus unleaded. Any views please?

I've had Mk1 and Mk2 vrs's and whilst clearly the second is an "improvement" I enjoyed the mk1 much, much more.

The good news is that having taken off the bars having had them on for a while now is that there':thumbup:s absolutely no bodywork damage or scratching. When they were on there was no creaking as reported elsewhere. The alarm problem stopped once the heavy rain of a couple of weeks ago got a bit lighter. They came off as easily as they went on and I found them really good.

Since the post on 6th August, I've now had the bars on for nearly 2 weeks and something really strange has started happening. The car alarm keeps going off! If i press the button near the drivers seat before locking the doors, it doesn't happen. I've had a couple of drips of water in the car where the roof rack fits in the door rubbers but nothing major. Any ideas, please? In answer to James' question, I didn't clean the roof first when i fitted them and I'm just about to take them off so if there are any horrors to report - watch this space!

Just bought some genuine Skoda LAS610001B's new from dealer. When I ordered them he said "ah, the one's with the revised torque wrench!" - which seems to indicate people were overtightening the previous versions. They came within a couple of days, went on like a dream in minutes and were cheaper than the Thule's. I guess they are rebranded Thules as really nice quality aero design. So far, so good. Not taken 'em off yet, so the roof may be ruined but doubt it as no problems with fitting!

It's slightly ironic you picking up on someone elses bad spelling don't you think?? (I was goin' to put dontcha but thought better of it) I've just booked a test drive in a Roomster but having read this post, I don't think I'll bother.

In fact it's so odd I'm kind of embarrassed to post this. I reversed into a parking spot today jumped out of the car went to get some stuff out of the hatchback. Shut the hatch walked round the side of the car to find all four windows fully down. No i hadn't been drinking, the rain was so bad if for whatever reason I had forgotten I'd put them all down and driven along, the seats would have been soaked, which they weren't. Any ideas or similar experiences please? It's a 2007 vrs tfsi.

Firstly, an observation. Coming home from work in the dark I followed a MK2 vrs (i've got one too) and was amazed how bright the rear lights and reflectors were - there's not much chance of anybody running in the back of one of these babies and claiming they didn't see it! I can't think of another car on the road that comes close. I then followed a mk2 tdi. I had the misfortune to sit at traffic lights behind both cars separately whilst the drivers sat with their feet on the foot brakes instead of using the handbrakes. It was b***y agony they were so bright.

Hi I've had the mk2 vrs Octy with 18" alloys car since March with no issues, but yesterday and today I've touched something down going over speed humps really slowly. Yesterday I had two adults in the car and this afternoon two of my kids. Does any one elses do this, could there be a reason it's just started and does anyone know what tends to touch down first and if so is it a big problem? Any help gratefully received. Thanks
