Have tried with both keys - thought that might be it at first as my wife was driving and using "her" key. But when she got home and told me about it I tried with my key and the same problems.

Help ! All of a sudden my door mirrors will not fold when holding the fob button. They fold perfectly using the mirror control switch. At the same time the drivers window also will not drop or raise when holding the fob button (all others are OK). If I use the key all drop and raise OK, linked to this the window will not drop automatically when using the window switches inside - CONFUSED ? I know I am !!

Rob - I have been trying to get hold of the wood trim for my new Elegance 2.0 having had it on the previous Octy L&K. Can you tell me where you got if from and an idea on price (plus did you fit yourself and was it easy ?) many thanks Barry

I appreciate this is a late post to this subject but I have just gone from an Octy L&K to Yeti Elegance. When I picked up the Octy I was asked if I wanted just the front DRL's on or Front and Rear (which I chose). Having followed my wife when she was driving the Octy there was no doubt that having the rear DRL's active made it more noticeable (especially at the time of day when the auto light has not yet turned on). I know I could just as easily turn on the sidelights but what is the point of having auto lights and DRL's only to have to manually overcome shortcomings in the setup of the car. So, when I collected the Yeti I asked to have both front and rear active and was told "sorry, can only do the front". Considering the Yeti is 2 years newer than the Octy this seems very stange and a retrograde step. If I read the previous posts properly is it possible I could find a friendly dealer (or someone with the right software) and ask them to set the car up as if it were in Ireland ?

Dont know if you are able to join Costco or if there is one near you but if you are then well worth checking them out. I recently put a complete set of Michelin PS3 onto my 2.0 TDI L&K Estate for just a shade over £300 ! That was tyres, tracking and Nitrogen filling. Even considering the membership of £30 for Costco I still saved megabucks on what I was being quoted by all the normal places ! Only downside ? Has to be a set of 4 to get such a good price as they apply a further discount for the full set. You can get them singly or in pairs and even then the price bettered the local comp. Fitted them just before going from South London to Wales and very pleased with them on the M25/M4 - very little noise and great feedback. Then took them around the narrow roads of Carmarthenshire and always felt very safe and secure in wet ( VERY WET !) and dry.

Typical mpg going from Chessington to Portsmouth on the A3 at a steady 65 to 75 (oops sorry officer !) Old '07 L&K tdi (PD engine) - around 45 mpg, never much better than 48 mpg New '11 L&K tdi (CR engine) - so far, average around 52 mpg and on one homeward run where not so much in a hurry ( but still around 65 mph) I pulled into the drive showing 58.2 mpg !!! AND it still only has 650 miles since new !

That's a fair point ! I had not considered it from that view. I think the LED's look good when in a row like the Audi etc etc but when used to replace a normal filament bulb they don't have the same effect. Thanks everyone who has taken the time to post and give me ideas - just proves what a useful site this is and how helpful some people can be :thumbup:

Help ! Hs anyone fitted a reversing camera to their Octy ? I have seen a nice compact looking item on ebay which replaces one of the number plate lights. I have a Columbus Sat Nav and, after reading the book. it looks like, in some options it can show T.V. My theory is that therefore there could be an input I could use for the camera. Any comments or ideas gratefully received !

Have just picked up my new L&K. Got the DRL's in the foglight housing turned on when I picked it up but have noticed they tend to look a bit "yellow" particularly when compared to the pure white of the main headlights. Has anyone tried putting new "whiter" bulbs in place. Alternatively does anyone know if there are LED based bulbs which could be used in place (guess they would have to have ballast resistors so as not to get the warning system activate). Thanks !

Now had my new L&K TDI Est DSG for a week and boy what a car it is ! Traded in an 07 L&K and after ordering the new one just before Xmas and being told to expect to have to wait until May I was pleased to get an email telling me it was on its way and should be ready for 1st week of April. The colour is fantastic (Rosso Brunello Metallic) although I can't claim the credit - it was my wife's choice. Light leather interior with black. Columbus sat nav finishes it off nicely and gets rid of the annoying tom Tom cables etc. I drive about 130 miles Mon to Thur (Live in Surrey, Work In Hampshire, up and down the A3) and the improvement in fuel economy from the new CR TDI engine is absolutely brilliant ! The new DSG gearbox is MUCH better and changes are so smooth you have to look at the display to check what gear you are in. Also own a Smart Cabriolet and like many Smart owners have modded that a bit ! Was going to tweak the L&K once I got it but honestly cannot see anything I would want to do with such a brilliant machine !

LOVE ! my DSG ! Until last Friday I was driving an 07 L&K tdi (early model L&K so basically an Elegance with some "tweaks") Am now driving an 11 "true" L&K which is an MY11 version i.e. CR diesel and much improved noise reduction. The new DSG in this car is FANTASTIC ! much smoother than the 07 (and I thought that was good !) Would say to anyone considering which to go for to go "auto"

Unless I really am going mad (it's me age you know !) - I don't believe there is a false floor option for the hatch, the drop from the bumper to the floor is greater than that of the estate from my best recollection. That is not to say you could not manufacture one but guess you would have to make some custom sides to offest the height difference.

Please forgive if I have not seen something or mis-read this thread. I have JUST ordered a new L and K Octavia which I am awaiting the delivery date for. I have opted for the Columbus navigation, am I going to have the same problem connecting my iPhone 3GS as it appears others have had. Does the iPhone 4 solve this ? IF I was to read one of the postings correctly do I need to ask the dealer to ensure certain options (I think its the BT module and Ae module) are fitted to ensure I get compatibility ? In one of the posts it mentioned that after week 22 the problem may be solved - is week 22 counted from 1st Jan ? If it is then I may not have a problem as I think I am looking around that time to get the car anyway ! Thanks Barry

Help ! I have just ordered my new L&K Octavia and when compiling the list of goodies the dealer tried to add the option for heated washer nozzles (using the Superb code). The factory have rejected this as a non-UK option. Discussing with others it has been suggested that the wiring etc may already be in place and it might be possible to simply order the Superb bits and fit them following receipt of the car. Has anyone experience of this (or better knowledge) Thanks Barry
