  1. Hi all, Thanks for all your replies! After a bit of digging; it does seem that the same engine is used in the Ibiza! So huge thanks to Fabia00! The 1.2TS Ibiza has all the correct power / torque figures that I have in my engine specs; the only thing that doesn't match is that elsewhere I have the same figures that match to a 6 valve; not to the 12V in the Ibiza. (Strangely my engine specs; albeit all in German, don't tell me how many valves are in there.. I'll need to chase that up later today) And I have 10.3:1 rather than 10.5:1 compression ratio. I'm not 100% that they're the same; but it doesn't NEED to be; so this should give me a good enough result - Given that I'll be cross examining pure fuel vs ethanol data using the same tests. I just wanted to be able to also check against Skoda's actual figures to see any similar results.
  2. Thanks for your reply. I'm studying Automotive Engineering and my dissertation is on the performance and emissions benefits of ethanol on IC engines So I'm creating a mock NEDC drive and recording the data. (Pure fuel, ethanol with basemap & ethanol with a remap) I've got the full wheel diameter/weights etc so I've been able to get the total force acting on the car at each speed; but I need to know the RPM for each gear! :P
  3. Hi all, I'm doing my dissertation at university and using a Fabia 2 1.2 HTP engine on a test-bed; but I need the gear ratio's so I can create a test that mimicks a real drive. Skoda UK customer service had no clue, and sent me to Erwin - But before I shell out a fiver (Cheap student! ) I thought that maybe someone here could know! So; does anyone know the gear ratio's of a Fabia 2 1.2 HTP (3 cyl) with a 5 speed manual? Thanks!
  4. Hey, I have a W Reg 1.4 MPI and in the last few weeks the drivers seats come a little loose. It stops when I raise the seat to maximum, but I'm not comfy at all so driving like that isn't an option ;p I had a look underneath and it seems that some sort of connection seems to be wobbly. Theres no screw, bolt or anything though - as its just flat both sides. Everywhere else I've looked says that people get them replaced under warranty, but obviously I can't do it. Is there a home fix I can do? Or is it a garage job? Its nothing massive, just slightly annoying.. Cheers
  5. Thanks again for the replies. Yeah, afaik it does need insurance etc It's handy to know in whatever circumstances they come to hand.. I wouldn't drive anyone else car regularly. Maybe the rare spin when accompanied, but never anything serious :p
  6. Thanks for your replies, Yeah.. It's with quinn. Just rang them up and she confirmed that I'm legally insured to drive any car for 3rd Party insurance, providing I have permission and it's taxed etc. How odd..
  7. Hey, I was looking through my insurance details early, when I re-read my certificiate. I noticed that on it, was a nice little paragraph under the 'Persons or classes of Persons entitled to drive' bit: "The policyholder if they have a full EU licence, may also drive, with the permission of the owner, any Private Motor Car that they do not own and have not hired or leased subject to the terms and conditions of this policy" Now, does this mean I can drive any car under TPF&T? Now here's the thing - I have a TPF&T cover myself, I'm the policy holder. But i'm 17. Surely this doesn't mean I can go driving around in my mum's TT or a friends Clio 182? Any advice from anyone? :S
  8. My revs go down if I accelerate lightly and can stall when the engine is cold. I need to rev up to about 3k or so to avoid it all.. But never when braking or downhill at all :S Sorry, I really didn't help at all there.. :'(
  9. Bloody good quality for what it is!
  10. Looks superb! I love mine, great detail and gives the car a genuine unique look
  11. Its at the back of the engine bay at the middle. The guides on the website show it as being horizontal, but 1.4 is vertical - at least mine was. It still looks the same so take the cover off and you should be able to see it back there ;p EDIT: Added picture
  12. I did think the tyres looked a bit big. Shame really, but ah well.. I wouldn't have thought they'd look that bad. But they would be going onto a somewhat old, banged up 1.4; so I'm not intending to spend a fortune. I just need something to replace the horrible halfords 'alloy look' hubs that are on there now :(:( Thanks for your answers though :p
  13. Hey, I've been after some alloys for a while now and came across some 16" Seat Leon Cupra Sport alloys for a good price. But would it be a straight fit? Alloys in question Thanks
  14. Try cleaning the throttle body Very easy 20 minute job, and made my 1.4 stall and judder free when pulling off/at low throttle There is a guide on the forums somewhere...
  15. I wouldn't mind coming down for this one.. But what is it that you get up to? I don't know a single person and I'd only be in a piddly 1.4 :( :'(
