  1. I am back in the game, happy to meet up if the Romford boys are still on the scene. 1/2 a lager and a chat would be good, Rabbits works for me. Might be good once the weather breaks eh? My 53 fabia vrs is at 115k a few small niggles, using it for camping etc with the kids, what a rock and roll life eh?!?!?!
  2. Thanks for the info. I'll keep and eye on fleebay any other suggestions on my VRS problems ?
  3. Hi, I have a pretty long commute about 100 miles each way to work, mainly motorway driving. have had a few issues with my 53 reg VRS mainly suspension related, only a clunking now when turning and sometimes when starting off... could be CV's ? Also appears to have an oil leak around the turbo, hoping the best on that, but suspecting the worst at some stage.!!! However just the end of last week drove home all ok, got within 100 yards of home and was waiting at a junction. Selected 1st gear rev'd up but with no movement, tried in second.. then same, tried 3rd and car pulled away as if I was in third. I have taken it to a garage with what I thought would be a linkage problem... however I am being told that its gearbox.... OMG. I have asked for a quote to fix, waiting for that tomorrow, I assume arms and legs are involved !!!!! Car is off the road. What other options do I have and 1. should I get a second opinion. 2 DIY it ? 3. I read about a rebuild is that viable ? 4 anything else ? Please help as its driving me mad. Thanks
  4. Thanks getting the job done today... around £150 + vat... Thanks for the advice
  5. Hi, I have got a 53 reg Fabia VRS. Got to work today with a lot of clunking going on!!! sounded like a big tin full of screws rattling around from the o/s wheel. appears to be diagnosed as a wheen bearing. Got car home from work, 90 miles away on back of low loader... booooooooo!!!!! What next...? appears that the bearing cannot be changed DIY is that true? I know you can get just the bearings, but can also get the whole hub... what is better ? Whats the expected time to do this job and what else can anyone recommend. my nearest garage is about 15 -20 miles away ! I don't think it can be driven. Please can I have some suggestions. I live in Romford, Havering Cheers
  6. Thanks for the reply's. I will jack it up to see if I can spot anything tomorrow. The wheel moves more backwards and forwards rather than side to side though. and this is with it still on the deck ! Faboka vrs this seems spot on !, no obvious tyre wear though as yet. Is a consol bush a DIY jobby or not ? whats the going rate if not. Thanks again for all the responses.
  7. Hi, Have a Fabia VRS 53 reg... The NSF wheel has been pulling on acceleration over the last week or so. Today it started making some noise and when I got home tonight I notice that if I kick it it sort of wobbles whereas the other wheels do no move. Any suggestions ? Thanks
  8. I am in Romford and am a newbie VRS owner... just getting a feel of my car. Doing alot of miles a week, working. Always looking for news about common faults etc so I can see / hear the warning signs, prior to any serious problems.
  9. Another postive one from me too. Just purchased a 53 VRS recently. before doing lots of miles decided to put it in for a service / look over. Was pleased with the way Prestons treated me and fed back about issues, will be putting some business their way again.
  10. I am interested to get some stories of owning a VRS !
