  1. Had the same thing happen to me with my previous car (1.9TDi Fabia) on the first day of ownership. Dealer gave me a similar load of cobblers as an excuse - bottom line is they forgot to tighten the sump plug during its pre-delivery service. I was a bit concerned about long term damage to the engine, but was fine 4.5 years later when I sold it. Fortunately, it happened whilst slowing down on a motorway slip road, so engine speed was low and I managed to switch off immediately after seeing the oil pressure light illuminate.
  2. My first full tankfull lasted 450 miles (very close to empty) @ 37.5mpg which was 15% city, 15% A road with the remainder motorway at 70mph.
  3. My very limited experience (only had it a few days) of the 1.4TSi L&K suggests that an average of 40mpg is probably as good as you will ever see. I'm expecting about 37/38mpg in my normal mix of driving and that is assuming the computer figures are accurate - they have always been a few mpg optimistic in my other Skodas. That said it might improve a bit with miles and when it gets a bit warmer. I'll be doing my first long trip in it at the weekend, will be interesting to see what figures you get at motorway speeds. Suspect the Yeti mpg may temper my right foot somewhat...
  4. I just don't like voice control much - feels odd talking to machines, don't like talking to answering machines either. I accept it has its uses in some situations but for me I just can't get Siri to anything reliably and once it does the wrong thing it becomes even more frustrating to try and correct it. May just be me though, my voice is pretty weak and gravelly as a result of several operations on the vocal chords when I was young, so probably gives problems for Siri.
  5. Have to say I'm pretty underwhelmed by Car Play also. First annoyance was being forced to turn on Siri which I suppose makes sense for in car use but I'd rather not have it enabled when not in the car, so now have to remember to turn on/off. Second was the disappointment at the lack of car play apps, pretty much Apple Maps, Phone & Messages and Music if you use your phone for that (I dislike iTunes, so don't). Third strike against was finding that Siri is utterly useless for me, I couldn't get it to perform any function reliably at all. Far quicker and more accurate to use the touchscreen even if that means pulling over. I found the voice function of the Amundsen to be better than Siri but still pretty poor - really don't know how people can be bothered, would need to improve massively before I'd consider it useable nevermind useful. Don't have any Android devices, so not sure if Android Auto has more apps/is any better.
  6. Congrats on the new toy. I picked up mine yesterday and really like the xenons too - its one of the very few vehicles I've ever owned that has both good dip & main beam lights, the others being an MX5 and my motorbike - Honda Africa Twin (LED lights). My mk2 Octavia had OK main beam but rubbish dip and the Fabia was rubbish on both, probably the worst lights of any car built since the 80's
  7. That was one of the reasons for ordering the jungle green in the first place... I think the Mag Brown looks great but its a very dark colour and I suspect it would be almost as bad as black to keep clean. Oddly enough though, when the dealer looked round at what alternatives were available in a reasonabe time frame, the most plentiful colour was Jungle Green!
  8. Agreed, really not too concerned about the economy as don't do many miles but 40mpg would have been nice. Agree about the lease deals, mine came in under £200pm on a 3+23 deal - damn sure it would cost me way more than that in depreciation had I bought it.
  9. I finally picked up my Yeti 1.4 TSi L&K today, and very nice it is too. I like the ride and handling, seems much tauter than my old Fabia, doesn't roll as much and the ride seems fine too despite the 17" wheels. Also loving the toys, in particular the heated seats and xenon lights - first Skoda I've had that with decent lights (Fabia's may as well have been candles)! Only downside is it seems much thirstier than the Fabia, the computer showing about 35mpg so far, hopefully that will improve as it loosens up and it was snowing today... There was a bit of a hiccup with the colour - I originally ordered it in Jungle Green but later changed to Mag Brown, but it seems the change request didn't get actioned so it arrived in Jungle Green. After selling the Fabia, I've been without a car for the last month so didn't want to wait 4/5 weeks for a Mag Brown one...
  10. Thanks, sounds like it may not be worth it for me as I don't.use Nav very often or use spotify. Does the standard skoda voice control work ok for answering calls?
  11. Is their any benefit to getting Smartlink on a Yeti with the Amundsen? I'd definately add it if I didn't have the built in Nav, but does it add any real benefit over the Amundsen, or are there any notable carplay apps that make it worth while?

    New order in

Well you got a better deal than me by £15!

    New order in

Congrats - sounds very much like mine, also a 1.4TSi L&K on 2yr lease from local dealer. Originally went for Jungle Green but since changed to Mag Brown... No options though. Due end Jan.
  14. That is how you would hope it would work but in my case the only option I enquired about (Smartlink) resulted in you paying 100% of the cost over the lease period. Before deciding on the Yeti, on most of the other vehicles I considered the cost of metallic paint also seemed to result in a 100% charge over the lease period.
  15. Not saying its always the case but as far I can tell you generally pay the full price for options, which makes them pretty poor value for money especially on a shorter lease.
