I have already driven a 1000 miles with the light on and there doesnt seem to be a problem with braking..if it is a mot fail then what can be done to sort the problem Thanks

  5. Dear members, I own a skoda fabia elegance 2002. Today i have noticed warning lights for Anti brake system (ABS) and transaction control system (TCS). Usually this lights do come on when the ignition is switched on and it disappears when the car is started. Today this lights seem to be constantly on. I tried switching off and on the switch for ABS but that didnt seem to be working either. Any ideas why would it do that and how can i fix it? I would like to avoid going to the dealer, obvious reason being the amount of monie they normally charge. Please if anyone can help me it would be a great help. Cheers, ta

  9. i asked the shop assistant for anti freeze for skoda fabia 2002 and he asked me if it was red or blue in colour, i said red and he gave me a bottle for 5 quid...does it sound like it would be a right type? thanks for ur advice cheers.
  10. hi guys, i was doing some normal checks on my skoda fabia today and noticed a sharp drop in coolant level (just below min mark when the engine was cold), which was at the desired level just a week ago. So i topped it up with some more coolant and in a hurry i did not mix water, which i realised later and so i topped it up with some water, so now the coolant level is just a bit above max.....now my questions are as follows: 1) is it ok for the coolant level to be a bit above maximum 2) why would it drop down in a weeks time when everything else seems to be normal and fine, even the car is running nice and smooth 3) the temperature gauge stays right at the middle( or just a fraction over middle), it reaches to that level in just 5 minutes after i start driving- is this normal? would appreciate if i can get some advice, thanks guys. ps: i have posted the same topic in fabia II forum by mistake

  12. hello all, i have bought a used skoda fabia 2 weeks ago from a dealer. At that time there was a problem with the locking system as the doors wont lock with the remote. The dealer then assured me that he will get it fixed, later on he called up and said that the skoda dealer said that there is a lot of work as they have to remove the dashboard to fix the problem and it will be after christmas but he gave me an option to fit an alternative alarm immobiliser which he said will work. Now i have got the car and he has fitted viper alarm and it doesnt seems to be working..the issues i face are 1) unable to open passenger doors and need to keep trying many times before they finally open 2) the alarm will go off even while i am inside the car 3) not really sure if the alarm immobiliser fitted even does the job or is it just some kind of keyless entry system to the car that he has installed. I raised this issues with the dealer but it seems that he is not bothered anymore, having SOLD the car to me. Also, if i want to get rid of this new system that he has fitted and want the original key and factory fitted alarm immobiliser to work what should i do, also bearing in mind the monetary aspect. any advise and help regarding this would be appreciated. thanks.
  13. thanks for the reply mate..ill surely try that..my car has done around 59k miles..what is the typical age for a head gasket to blow off?
  14. hi all, before buying my skoda fabia recently from a dealer i spotted white oil residue around the oil cap..asking the dealer about it he said it is because of the car not being driven for a long time and since it is left outside in cold. As my mate who came with me also agreed to it, i ignored the issue and thought that it is not something to worry about. Today after reading few posts about white oil residue, it made me worried and i am thinking could there be a head gasket problem? :( any advise welcome..cheers.
  15. hello mate, m back with my questions..as u said in ur last post about checking oil levels..can u also tell me how do i check them :( i know thats a dumb question but still if you could help that would be great. ps: u do make sense in what u say
