  5. Phil.B - have fitted these yet? I'm seriously considering ordering a set so any feedback would be useful....
  6. I've softmodded 2 original xboxes, both of which are still running. A great resource is http://www.xbmc4xbox.org which gives you all the information you could ever need. I've still got my softmod kit somewhere if you want to borrow it...
  7. Thanks for all the useful replies. It was indeed someting to do with the electrics on the left hand side of the boot. Not entirely sure how I cured the problem as there was no evidence of the washer fluid leaking. I just fiddled with the various connectors and this seems to have sorted it - maybe just a loose connections somewhere. As mentioned elsewhere, the biggest problem was removing the interior trim - why do they make this so difficult!
  8. Thanks for all the speedy replies. Whereabouts in the boot (estate) are the electrical connectors which it seems likely have been corroded? Is this something I can tackle myself (I am most definitely NOT mechanically minded) or should I just take it to my local trusted indie to sort?
  9. Got a strange problem and was wondering if someone could shed any light on it.... The high level brake light on my Octy II Estate seems to be on all the time. Its quite dim and not nearly as bright as you would get when braking - its actually quite hard to see that it is on during the day, but more obvious at night. It remains on whether the car is running or not. The only time it goes off is if the boot is opened, but comes back on as soon as it is shut. It doesn't seem to be draining the battery too much as the car has been stood for 36 hours and still started this morning. Anyone any ideas on what is causing this, and how I can fix it?

  12. Same thing happened to me last year - see this thread for how I resolved it: http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/152953-help-me-my-boot-wont-open/page__p__1900222__hl__help%20boot%20won%27t%20open__fromsearch__1entry1900222 Fortunately my boot was empty when the problem occured. To get to the boot release mechanism I'm afraid you are going to have to get all your holiday gear out of your boot somehow!
  13. They will probably try and get out of it as there is no way of knowing when these units will fail. I'd have thought the warranty company should be your first port of call - if they turn you down then try the dealer you bought it from, armed with as much info as you can find regarding the Sale of Goods Act.
  14. Before you let him do anymore work on your car, get in touch with your warranty company and check it is covered / get authority from them to do the work. If its not covered then it may be worth taking it back to the dealer you bought it from and see what they will do. As others have said, its the Teves ABS unit which has failed, which as I understand has the ESP sensor incorporated within it. The thread linked to earlier has all the info you need. Just keep your fingers crossed you don't end up paying for this yourself - you'll be looking at a very hefty bill (at least £800 perhaps at lot more).
  15. I think you need to get the boot open and try and see what the problem is - as you'll see from the thread I linked to above, all I had to do was spray some WD40 into the catch and wiggle it a round a bit to loosen it up. More than a month on and I've had no further problems with the boot opening.
