  1. This is exactly what I was thinking, thanks for confirming i'm not going mad. After a little deeper digging I found the one i linked too (CTSSK003.2) did not have the CAN-bus decoder in it so would have needed to find a switched live from somewhere, the CTSSK002.2 actually has the CAN-bus decoder built into the steering control box so gone for that one!
  2. So, after picking up my superb last week I have found the Bluetooth module under the seat is the Nokia one so doesn't support anything. Looking at the modules I would need to upgrade the module to give me music streaming they are asking £££ I have been given a pioneer head unit which has Android auto and found a lot of the parts are cheep to get it fitted (compared to the BMW I have just got rid of) https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/CTSSK003-2-Skoda-Fabia-2007-onwards-Stalk-Steering-Control-Adaptor-/261650433160?_trksid=p2349624.m46890.l49286 That's the adaptor I'm looking at but I thought when your installing in a CAN bus system you need a constant live tapped in? This doesn't seem to have any way to tap in a constant?! Or is the Superb different and it's all pretty much plug and play? Any helps mucho appreciated
  3. After trying different cars I'm yet again back in a skod. So bit of background. 2x MK1 Octavia VRs 1x MK1 Octavia estate TDI 2x MK1 fabia VRs I'm now in a 2008 Superb PD DSG. Think I got a bargain for the barge, few niggles that I need to sort but that's why I'm back. Questions questions questions to prepare me for the work
  4. One Modified/supported hanger.... Just need to wait for the above hanger replacement part to turn up then im busy sunday afternoon
  5. Like i say its a suttle drop, nothing major but the car handles soo much better. Don't look to bad with 181K on the clock
  6. anyone having the same issue as me just done some digging a found these https://www.bestpartstore.co.uk/7643604 i could upgrade but there is nothing actually wrong with my exhaust so this will fix the issue until I decide if i'm going to upgrade.
  7. Stage 1 to strengthen the replacement hanger by the rear beam is here. sadly the replacement hangers hasn't arrived yet. Metal Cable ties, they are SS so should not rust! will hopefully last longer than the old plastic cable-tie idea people use.
  8. Just a bit of an update. My Credit Score stopped that idea dead... so i opted to go for the H&R springs (20mm Setup designed for the Vrs) Paid about £170 for the full spring set of the bay of E, booked into my mates to fit them annnnnnnd they didnt arrive in time so had to fit myself. Only issue i had was bolting the ball joint back up which meant track-rod end needed changing in the process on one side but OMG! Why didn't they fit these from Standard, they have made the car 10x more driveable! Highly recommended upgrade if you don't want to go LOW!
  9. I was thinking mabie something like this but with arms on both sides and re install the hangers should solve my problem?? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/281097400645
  10. Has anyone got a photo of what the center hanger should look like? Got some ideas from the diagram but they are normally very loose examples
  11. Evening all! got an quick question, my 03 Vrs seems to be missing some exhaust brackets... All started with a banging noise I have been chasing the last few weeks, Plus side i found a snapped spring on the front so was a good excuse to go for the H&R -20mm set (which are amazing and should have been fit from standard) The one by the rear beam has been on less than a yr and it looks like this: now i was doing some digging on the bracket front and ways to up-rate them and came across this on the workshop manual: (No 2) Been out to my car and look whats missing! No centre mount! No sign of the arms to mount them too, No sign of the arms being removed in the past. Did they add them at a later date?? is there any way to retrofit or am I off to the local powerspeed shop when my bonus comes in at end of month?
  12. Yea. Just been on the Facebook chat with someone and deamon tweaks do the koni kit with HR springs on 0% which better suits my situation.
  13. https://www.dpmperformance.co.uk/car-parts/skoda/octavia/ap-35mm-lowering-springs-shocks-suspension-kitoctavia-1u-14-16-vrs-18t-19sdi-20-fwd-0297 Anyone fitted these to their Octy? Needed rear shocks doing recently, just found a broken front coil. So why the hell not? Don't want coilovers but wanna upgrade. Anyone fitted these?
  14. Same as above, when i got mine i had a stat handy as they always need doing. with it sitting low is stat. If it flickers off and on then its the switch
  15. or even one of these? http://www.screwfix.com/p/hilka-pro-craft-reversible-gear-puller-4-100mm/12510 That would pull the hub and any parts left behind wouldn't it?
  16. Never was a boyscout but do like to be prepared. One of the rear wheel bearings has started to rumble so ordered a replacement, i know the ins and outs of replacing but have a few questions if i come acrop?? Whats the chance of the inner race being left behind on the stub axel? - If it does then whats the best advise for removal? Cut carefully / any tools i could have to hand? What if the new Hub/Bearing doesn't 'slip' on? - I have read you can tap it on with a socket which fits the inner race? is this safe? Hub pullers.... a nessassary tool? Something like this? Thanks in advanced guys and girls.
  17. The clamps have the same shape with space for the protruding part of the Bush. Boy do they sit snug in the clamps. Wondering how they will fit to the car.
  18. I can't see a sleeve..... Pic attached.. I think the sleeve has already been removed cos there where jubilee clips either side of the Bush. Have removed the outer ones and the knocking has reduced by 90% I'm guessing the bushes will be a very tight fit then?? Still need to get that bolt sorted
  19. Evening all, went to change the ARB bushes this morning but got stumbled by a rounded bolt... 8h later i realised i have Erwin extractors..... idiot There is a lot of discussion on the site about bush size vRS 17mm/19mm Sleeve/No Sleeve got me worried... have i bought the correct bushes?? I have the 17mm SuperPro bushes With new clamps and Bolts (also longer bolts to help). When I was under the car this morning I coulden't see any sleeves... but the bar looks bigger than 17mm.. Whats the crack with this then? the 17mm will fit but with a Squeeze? Sorry to ask an already asked quesion (going back on it tuesday and hate not having everything prepared..
  20. iv just had an inner CV issue on mine. If your garage is just replacing the joint/boot then kick them in the boot. for Cost you might as well just replace the whole shaft, we looked at my inner boot issue and the job would go. Remove shaft - remove boot - inspect joint - replace boot and joint - refill with grease - replace shaft to car. What we did: Remove shaft - Throw in bin - Fit new shaft - Enjoy car. Yes parts costs will be a little higher but labor cost will be A LOT lower.
  21. Agreed, the cost involved to swap the engines over will be more than the cost of getting a car with the desired engine in it. I picked my oct VRS up for pennys. to engine swap, will be 2K starting before you take any other 'Issues' into account.
  22. Well I have a friendly mot testerbut I hear on a standard engine a decat can reduce power output
  23. Well while having the wishbones and top mounts changed the the vrs we noticed the flexi pipe on the downpipe/cat has split. Explained the drop in consumption. Littke advice. Been looking for a replacement cat online and im struggling to find one for it, spoken to local powerspeed and the price to fix the flexi is coming in at 140+ Anyone know where to get a new cat at a reasonable price? Fitting isnt an issue as my mate has a garage who lets me use the ramp for cheep.
  24. Legend... now to figure out which length i need for the main cover.... and the little metal parts they clip into as the current ones look fubard from the screws.
